Title: Playing Lombard on 9/7
Post by: tacimala on September 06, 2006, 08:48:33 PM
Per the advice given I am going to check out Lombard tomorrow for my first disc golf experience in Chicago. Probably will be heading there between 1 and 2, but that is still up in the air a bit. Anyone planning on playing there tomorrow or interested in doing so? I'm flexible on the time.

Lombard is like Firefighters on steroids.  Or Riverside with less river and more side.  It has a lot of cut grass, almost no schule; it is very parklike.  Chicago disc golf is much more like that.  Chicago disc golf does not have much wildness like Oshtemo or Kimble.  So you aren't playing Am Nats?  I'm leaving for the Tobbogan right now.  Eliot and the Adrians are supposed to be there.  I'm not playing the tourney, just the doubles.

I'm jealous, but a MI road trip is WAY overdue for this disc addict.....        :dontknow:

I've played Firefighters, but not Riverside. If it's about like that I'll enjoy it, but if it's more park like then we'll have to see! I'm just spoiled coming from Michigan I guess.

As for Am Nats, I did not even know the dates until about a month ago and being that I just got down here on Tuesday I decided to spend my first weekend here instead of driving back to Michigan. I already passed up Labor Day weekend here for the Michigan State Championships and I'm hitting up the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Series Finals next weekend, so I just need to take the one weekend off. My girlfriend will be much happier. :)

Enjoy Toboggan, the guys I stayed with up in Ludington this past weekend have been out there everyday practicing. They both say it's a very hard, but very fun course.

a group of 6 of us are going to be there around 12:20-12:30 or so, but we don't play the full course since it's on our lunch break.  We're playing the "back half" today starting at 9 and playing to 13, then moving to 4 and playing back to 8.  On our "front half" days we'll do 1-4, and then 13-19.

Maybe we'll be hitting hole #4 around the time you are there.  Be sure to say hi if you see us ;)  You may already be prepping to leave though and might not see the message.  I'm a big guy, hard to miss haha.  Green shirt, tan innova hat, blue innova diamond deluxe bag with green quad shocks.  Oh yeah, and a leather bag tag :)

Well, I woke up today with a headache worse than a hangover so I skipped out on everything I had to do today so far including the disc golf. I may head out that way around 5:30 though, we shall see. Anyone going to be out there after work today?

bummer!  I didn't get to go either lol.  I was walking out the doors with my co-workers today heading towards one of their cars.  I realized I didn't have my knee brace and went to go get it.  After waiting a million years for the elevator I got to my desk only to realize that I had left my brace at home.  I didn't have to have it, but it's nice security to make sure I don't have my knee buckle like it did at the Streamwood tournament.  I go to hop in my wife's car to drive out there, and the thing wouldn't start. UGH! Something wrong with the starter, and my dad will be out this evening to help me try to get the thing running again.  What a weird change of events.  The rest of the group was too far away to turn around and get me.  *sigh*

Sounds like we both had some interesting events going on today. Yesterday my laptop power supply died and today I was sick. Man I hope tomorrow is better!
