Title: Year long IL series?
Post by: smyith on September 18, 2006, 04:23:29 PM
I don't know much about weather in southern il but if it is warm enough (imo 40 & ^) would it be possible to have a IL open series evry month of the year all around the state?

I can only think of 2 "hang-ups"
1. A GOOD staff to run the tournaments
2. resources

#1 isn't to hard to hurddle but idk about #2 since i don't really know what it takes resource wise to run a tourn.

I doubt you'll get the tournout to make it worthwhile...

Michigan has had a winter series.  You only draw about half as many players in the winter.  You don't get many women or juniors.  I play one or two winter tournaments every year.

Aurora would be a good venue for an ice bowl with that fireplace!

An Icebowl for Aurora is in the works, and will most likely take place.

We did a year long "Safari" tournament a couple of years back-we went all over the place :) It was well attended, at first.....then attendance dropped.  I missed the first 5 events but still had 7 scores and came in 3rd place, just because I complete the required 7 events.

From the experience I can tell you that running an event every month gets old after the first 3-4 months.

I like the idea of a roaring fire in that fireplace at Aurora for an Ice Bowl :)

I remember that Safari Series.  Did I win it?  That was the year Brett got better than me.
