This course is sweet! Has length and elevation with some very tough birdies to get and a few tough 3 holes. Water comes into play on a few holes. There are also severl shots with drastic drop off by the pins. Also has a good mix of short holes thru the woods.
I thought this was one of the better courses I've played. Very fun with some long holes that you play for par and some decent midrange deuce holes. Alot of elevation change as well.
2 new holes have been added to this course making it a 20 hole course. Both are cut into the woods and are very tricky. They play after hole #15.
This course is still in my top 5 of Illinois courses. It has a wide variety and test your entire game.
Agree with the assessment of top 5 in illinois!
After reflection, 21 holes (1 temp) - only 4 holes were out of deuce range. Hole 1, 4, 6, and 12?
12 (if I got the # right) is a solid 4 in my book.
Someone tells me that 6 was deuced by nikko in both rounds. Unreal!
I absolutely loved the blend of short, far, topographical elements, and especially the risk when misfiring off the tee to induce a critical upshot.
The only knock I could bring up is #13-#15 - wide open and favors those who cud throw 400+ hyzers for easy deuces.
Quite a few holes could be the "signature hole"
my top three would be 1, 4, and 7.
The time and effort to put in those bridges to cross hill to hill were much appreciated.
Provided a neat feature to watch those down in the valley/gulley/whatnot as they tried their critical upshots.
I played with Mike Robinson round #1. He threw a huge shot over the trees on #1. He hit the putt for a 2. SICK!
Nikko did birdie hole #6 both rounds with a roller. He was directly left of the pin barely in the rough the 2nd round. 15 ftr.
I would love to see a 2nd pin placement on hole #4 on the edge of that drop off that slopes towards the water. It would make the upshot tougher and what a fast green that would be.
Another good addition would be a long tee on #6. There is room along the creek to push it way back to the south. That would make it a really tough 3 (birdie) to get.
This course has potential to become the best course in Illinois but as is it's right up there. There is plenty of room to add more holes as well. I would love to have this course as my home course.
Thanks to everyone that played. We had a great turnout and tons of fun.
I did have e few players that would like to see #15 pin pulled out and use the 15A basket for the pin placement.
We do have more room in the woods behind 15A & 15B for extra woods shots. It will be alot of work.
We are pleased with the Jr turn out 11 played on the small course and another 5 played rec.
Thanks again
See ya Next year

All changes are subject to park approval
Rand park in Keokuk is laid out and the signs are on the way. The course plays several strokes tougher on the new layout.
I am very excited to see the change to hole 4 with the pin near the creek and tee on the hill. That sounds like a super sick hole!
Can't wait to see the other changes.
