Anyone think they are going make a big move one way or the other?
I'm hoping I drop back below 875! :)
I think I'll be up three points on light pre-holiday trading. :icon_rendeer: :icon_rendeer:
I wasn't really paying close attention but it seems like Kelsey should be going up some. She had some good rounds at Women's Nationals, IOS #6 and Terry's Turkey Thing. Now would be a good time to go down to Men's Rec because I think kelsey is getting booted up to intermediate.
if ya can't beat the girl, run & hide in another division! :)
I just want to stay over 800. I only played in one sanctioned tournament since the last update, and the results never showed the unofficial ratings (this year's Homie), so I don't know what to expect for ratings from that tournament! I don't know if the 2005 ratings are close enough to what we did for 2006. Was it 21 holes each round for 2006? I can't remember lol. If it's comparible, I guess I threw about 811 for round 1 and 874 for round 2. not that bad at all for me! I will just have to wait and see what the official ratings are.
Hey Bruce,
How much "power boost" do we get from our unofficial ratings once they become official? is it roughly 3-5 points, or do they pretty much stay the same?
I think I'm falling a few points...Had some poopy "rated" rounds in the two tournaments I've played since the last ratings update. I don't feel the rounds were that bad. They were just bad compared to others which makes the rating poopy.
I know I'm going to drop, I had my first BOB tournament at Cold Turkey, at least I got 5 points. I might have stayed static if Channohan was in the update, but since it's not, Down I go. It felt so good to be above 900 for the first time. Guess that's a resolution for next year.
Unofficial ratings should be almost exactly the same as official ratings now. I thought Chuck posted on pdga.com that the boost and the juice were both done, and the unofficial ratings generator was dropping the same deviant rounds and using the same gators as the official generator. I think the only area where there might be a difference is in rounding. If you were to calculate your rating by hand off unofficial ratings and past official ratings, you'd be calculating from truncated data whereas your official rating is calculated from the raw data and then truncated. But that will only make a difference of one point about half the time.
Unless Krupika corrects me. ;D
Don't forget to double weight your last 25% if you are doing your rating by hand.
I'm in one a personal ratings-are-irrelevant zone right now. My rating is not going down so much as to put me out of advanced. It is not going up enough to win me a trip to USADGC, USDGC or Disney World. I'm done playing Advanced Master until my next injury anyway, [unless I'm playing in deep baggerland, like anywhere in Michigan] and my rating is not high enough to make me a bagger in any other division.
last update you could see a 10-24 pt boost in the official numbers. The juice is gone and numbers should be pretty much right on. Do the calculations as Bruce outlined above. If you really want to be anal about the calculations you can do linear regression and get those missing decimal points. Once the officials are out, I'll take a look to see what the delta is, but I'm pretty sure it will be minimal. The only one that may change more is IOS #6. Depending on when Jon upload the scores, the unofficial ratings could have been calculated pre-Sept update and the officials will be calculated based on the Sept ratings.
By this same reasoning, whenever IL states is finally entered, the ratings for it may be slightly juiced if the ratings of the gators has risen over the time from the tournament to the time official ratings are calculated.
I submitted IOS #6 and #7 at the same time one week after IOS #7 (I had asked the PDGA office for an extension on IOS #6 for personal reasons).
I gained 2 points. Good thing too. Diana would have caught me.
The IOS#6 official ratings went up around 10 points over unofficial. IOS#7 1st round was dead on, but second round gained close to 20 points.
Oh yeah, Kelsey's now an int bagger. :D
went down 3 points just enough to give me 899. SWEET!!! (sarcasm)
wooo up 8 points!
Hmmm...where did the Channahon tournament go?
Channahon is right there with the IL States. :-[
well, dropped 3.... now if I can drop another 10 I can return to rec! :)
Well, I stopped the ratings bleed. I didn't move at all. At least my 2nd round at Homie was above 900.
Which Club Member increased their rating the most?
???
Maybe my worst tournament year ever but I only dropped 2 pts since last Dec. Of course, there wasn't much there to begin with... if Mokena and Channahon ever show up they should pretty much balance out to my inconsistently consistent standard of mediocrity.
I started to type that I've now got incentive to chase after Kelsey but that looks extremely inappropriate in print... :P
This is from Chuck Kennedy of the PDGA. If you want your results in get on the phone.

These are close to the yearend ratings but we still have about 40 more events to process from December and old reports that are LATE. Check over these results and let us know if there are any corrections that need to be made. Contact the TDs to get reports filed with the PDGA by early January so we can get everything processed by the end of January. We had 100% of 2005 reports last year and want to keep that positive record.
up 6 points to 901... A little more consistency and I'm moving up a good amount more. I shot a 983 round and an 823 round in April. Shot a 965 and an 878 during one weekend in October. Thats terrible.

I think the most impressive jump was Tom Schodtler who went from 966 to 981.
I'm hiding from Kelsey via my rating. Hello Rec Division? I'm Back!!!!!

And up from 937 this time last year, that a fast trip up!
Sam Ruderman went from 856 to 906.
yay, i went back up to 811 from 800. I need to play at another tournament at Madison Meadows so that I can get the rating up even more ;) lol.
I'm up 2 points....that make 3 ratings updates with me in the 700's :)
Welcome to the Advanced Division Mr. Tom McManus!

Welcome to the Advanced Division Mr. Tom McManus!
Yeah, Advanced
Grandmasters.
David Gentry replied to me regarding IL States & Channahon results. He said they're working on it & he actually talked to Gary today, so hopefully they'll be in soon.
