Points documents will be attached to this thread after every event.
SERIES POINTS
This series is set up for fun and competition. Overall champions win a trophy and bragging rights. If you play any day of the 2007 Illinois Open Series you are automatically entered into the series. It costs no extra fee to enter the series. There will be no deductions from tournament payouts to pay for overall series champion trophies.
Points only count in the division in which they are earned. For example, if Bruce plays Advanced at the first event and receives 12 points then plays advanced masters at the next event and earns 12 points, he does not have a total of 24 points. He would have 12 points in advanced and 12 points in advanced masters.
Participants will be awarded one point for each tournament entered and one point for each player they beat in their division.
A player who DNFs (Does Not Finish), will receive 0 (zero) points for that tournament.
Overall points will be calculated from best 4 of 6 events.
Any ties for first place at the end of the series will result in a sudden death playoff at the Fairfield Fairwell. A player who is tied for first but is not present automatically loses the playoff.

If Bruce only earns 12 points in Advanced at the first one, he probably will drop back to Advanced Master for the second one! :D I sucked today. Kimball Pines is a brutal course if you're off the fairway. I was first loser to a 962 rated player and tied another 942 rated player.
Points are attached after IOS #1. Ties for positions are being treated a little different this year.
Thanks Tyler!
Are Recreational and AM IV going to be grouped together as one division for the series, or should they have been split apart?
They should be split apart.
Hmmm. Did anyone update the series points after Lombard?
I sent them to Brett shortly after Jon posted the results.
Sorry, I thought I had posted them. Now attached.
The AM3 and AM4 still need to be split apart somehow.
Ok I see the separate tab. I guess Its a work in progress as there are a bunch listed in the AMIV tab that were not playing AMIV.
Here is the list. I e-mailed it to Tyler also. Bruce, if I play on Sunday you will need to teach Mike (the IOS Information Officer (we couldn't afford to pay him so I gave him a title)) how to capture this info to send to Tyler.
I don't know if I can teach him how to capture any information but I can show him how to tell the Am IVs from the Am IIIs by looking at the leaderboard, providing you and Becky are black cornering their cards.
black cornered cards are the cards the player that got in on the preregistration price. AM IV are marked AM IV on the left side of the card.
I see Rory Holms marked as AM IV for IOS #2 but not for IOS #1, is this correct? I thought that Rory was AM IV for the first IOS.
There were a handful of AMIV eligible players that did not get into AMIV at IOS1. I'm fairly sure there were only two cards worth of AMIV at IOS1.
Jon, thanks for pulling the info. I'll make sure I note the AMIV's on Sunday to feed to Tyler. Someone else will have to do it at Rockford as I can't make it this year :'( (my sister's getting married that weekend).

That someone HAS to be Bruce whether he likes it or not. This is how our conversation about AMIV went when he proposed last year or during the winter. Bruce: "Blah blah blah AMIV blah blah blah Rec blah blah side bet blah pdga blah blah." To which I responded: "Does this mean any more work for me?" Bruce: "None." Jon: "OK, go for it!"
Anyway, I'm only half kidding...if I'm the one that needs to get this to Tyler then I will. But it is Bruce's day so he should really be getting this info together.
After tommorow could you make a series point standings with all three in ?

Were points ever added for IOS 3? No big deal either way as it's about to change for IOS #4 but I can't be there this weekend so I was hoping to see where I was at after 3.
Taylor- your in 5th, 25 points behind the leader
Who updates this list?
Tyler who then passes it to Brett to post.
Speaking of points. Updated thru IOS #4.
THANKS TYLER!!!

Some interesting races shaping up there. You do a really good job with that Tyler, thanks!
Thanks Tyler and Brett!!
I'm ordering overall trophy discs and Jon is ordering other overall awards. We're going with what was published on brasscash.com except,
(a) the following divisions don't really have anyone playing the series for points so they are not getting overall trophies:
(i) Advanced Women
(ii) Intermediate Women
(iii) Pro Grand Masters
(b) we will be doing an overall trophy disc for Am IV.
First place in Open, Advnced, Intermediate and Rec will get the nice trophies Jon is ordering and the other promised trophy spots will get a trophy disc you cannot buy.
I was wondering how you open the attached document that has the curent standings
Click on it. You need Excel to open it. If you don't have Excel we could probably also post it as a pdf.
If you don't have Excel, you can download the Excel viewer free here. This is only for Windows, but hopefully that works for you.

Openoffice.org makes a good Office like program that is free. It may be Linux or Mac compatible, I'm not sure.
OpenOffice certainly runs on Linux. I think for Mac you have to run it thru the X11 environment.
I'm sorry but were can I find the document on the page?

I want to clarify that Am IV will have an overall trophy disc for the #1 person, and that will be the only spot that will receive something, correct? Not that I need another disc, but 4 points out from the overall spot is good incentive for me to change my schedule and play Sunday this weekend instead of Saturday.
I'm encouraging everyone to bail on AMIV at this point. There's too many people that can pass me (including you Mr. Pitner) if a lot of people show up. >:D
lol, you at least have the advantage that it's only the best 4 out of 6 scores. So for me that means that I really need to beat my own bad scores of 5 each. Barish could be in for good fortune because he has a score of 2 that can drop off.
Should be a fun finish! I just hope that I can make it to both days!
No problem Mike. My bike club's annual event, the North Shore Century is this Sunday. I cannot play. Also, it looks like I will be out of town the weekend of Fairfield. I plan to tear the crap out of Homie and Bloomington so you can say, "Dave, Thanks for bailing on the IOS so I can get the trophy." My bad day at IOS 1 will stand up. Enjoy! However, you know I will miss our afternoons together. :love3: Of course, you will still have Mr. Pitner to keep you company and perhaps to break your heart.
correct, scott, am iv gets a trophy for overall points
btw Guests cannot see the document, they have to be logged in.
sorry to be impatient but.. do we have a current update around anywhere?
POINTS AFTER IOS #5

As usual, THANKS TYLER!!!
sweet thanks guys
some tight races!
the Overhand Assassin leading Intermediate. If Marcos shows up though he'll win it easily.
4 with a shot at advanced still. I need 40 points at Fairfield to win it which should be possible since we usually get 50 advanced up there.
Guther needs to make up 9 points on Jack to become the cinderella story of 2008 :)
only one problem i was told the ios moved marcos up because his rating is to high.

But, all Marcos has to do is join the PDGA and he can play any division he would like.
Yes i suspose he could do that.... That would be fun

Thank you for the stats, Tyler!!!
Tyler, It won't make much of a difference for the final standing but on the Standings tab, you mixed up my (Mike Wagner) IOS#5 points with Mark Onstad's. They are correct on the AMIV tab.
Lots of tight races. Marie could come down from cheese land and have a shot at taking the series from Barrett for the Open Women. Masters depends on who shows up. I need a third place finish to lock it in for AMIV.
Marie has no shot. She's on the DL.
Have the final standings ever been posted?
I don't think so. At the Fairfield IOS they were figuring points for the leaders but not the whole field.
FINAL STANDINGS FOR 2007
Thanks for getting this out for all to see. Excellent job done by all IOS staff this year.
