Rockford was one of the largest events in the country with 224 players last year. There will be $500 added cash to the event in 2007. It will be a USDGC (www.usdgc.com) qualifier for the best finishing Illinois player in the MPO division. This is for 1 spot only.
Wed-Sat, Oct 3-6, 2007
This spot is guranteed through August 1, 2007. The entry fee must be paid in full by July 29th or you may lose this spot.

i hope we have someone from IL playing this year!
One way to ensure that the winner uses it is to have the people vying for it pay a small upcharge, $5 or $10, and then the winner gets that money IF he shows up at Winthrop U.
The reason why Jon did it at Edgebrook was so that the winner would have to jump through a few hoops to get it. That process ensured that whoever won it wanted it, but Edgebrook got to keep the upcharge.
When I gave one away by a tournament I decided that if the winner did not use it, the next year I'd auction it. The winner used it, and the next year I was PDGA [Secret] Oversight Director rather than Michigan State Coordinator.

So, let's say that an am player doing the trophy-only thing wins this event; obviously money can't be accepted, but does the player still earn the invite to USDGC?
So long as that is trophy-only MPO, there's no reason why the am wouldn't win it if the am won in Open.

I think you dont even need to win IOS#4 just be the top finishing Illinois player to get the invite
I'll definately be playing trophy only MPO! As mentioned, a 3rd or 4th place could quite possibly get the invite!

That is correct. The top finishing IL MPO at Rockford will get the invite. Last year it would have been Kris Hutter who finished 5th place.

Have you guys thought about having a 50-50 hole where half of the money would go to the person who wins (and accepts) the USDGC spot?
John Knudson and I had a playoff for the IL spot, I ended up edging him out on the 2nd hole. I got to start making plans for USDGC soon. I hope to represent discontinuum and IL at the biggest disc golf tourney on this planet.

Keep it between the ropes!
Congrats to John Knudson. He will be representing Illinois this year. He's officially paid and his name should be on the USDGC site soon.
