IOS #1 was great.  Thanks to all involved.

Now on to the next one.

Do you know yet what the tee configurations will be for Pro/Adv and for Int/Rec?  I want to get out there and start practicing as I've never played anything but the concrete tees at Lombard.

I am not Brett, but you can be fairly sure that the lower day will play concrete tees both rounds. The red tees (shorts) will not be used.

btw The Lombard Park District trimmed the base of a few evergreens (holes 1 & 4) and took out one by the basket on 3. The course plays a couple strokes easier because of it.

I thought Lombard has a set of long tees (white?).  We don't use those for the lower divisions?  How about the upper divisions (In addition to playing Int, I'm going to play Adv trophy only because my ego needs a good thrashing).

There are Red/White/Blue tees at lombard.  They are color coded on the tee signs.  All of the concrete tees are the white tees, and sometimes the concrete is the same as the blue and sometimes the concrete tee is the same as all 3 tees.

Last year I believe Pro/Am day they played blue tees 1st round and white tees second round (and they had a modified tee on hole 16 to make a long tee).  Int/Rec day we played both rounds from the concretes (including the full length #19 660 ft).  There was a 20th hole that played from a barbecue pit area near the pavilion out towards a bunch of evergreens near the parking lot.

I can't say for sure that this year it will be the same, but I expect it to be similar.

I *thought* hole 3 played a lot easier for some reason this past weekend, now realizing that it was missing one by the basket I can agree, it does feel a bit easier.

Jon wants to play the same set up as last year, including the same temp holes.  That way all he has to do is change Hotrags to Fivetone.com on the scorecards and he is ready to go!   ;D

The name of this tournament will be officially changing as soon as Dave gentry gets a moment, or Addie, or whoever does that sort of thing at the PDGA.  www.Fivetone.com is donating seven $20 gift certificates for divisional CTPs each day at IOS #2 and IOS #3.  We're going to divide them up one per division but it will depend on how many play in your division.  A division of just a few players might get combined with another small division that plays at a similar skill level.  Then if there are extras, those will go to the bigger divisions.  Basically, we have one for every 12 to 15 players, depending on how many players we have, and we're going to spread them out that way, more or less.

i think that pro/adv should play the blue tees both rounds, especially since its the qualifier is in lombard the added challenge would be cool

Generally, yes, and absolutely yes if you want us to B-tier the pros.  But we're also willing to go with the best offer when there is nothing else on the table.  We might also get a little more in the deal, which would make it worth a lot more, but he is still pursuing that.

You don't have to wait on the weather report before pre-registering for a late May tournament.  I can tell you right now what the weather will be: sunny and warm with a chance of pop-up thunderstorms in the late afternoon, like any other day in late May in Illinois.  So save the full $5 and send Brett or Mirth a check today.

If I qualify, I'm going to Am Nationals this year.  I should play it once before I die.

I have 18 trophy discs under dye.  I have three full cubes of new Innova stuff all priced to make the Discraft look cheap.  I'm going to try to get a bunch of innova dyed, too.  I'm getting ready early on this one so I can be ready early on Crystal Lake so the short interval between Crystal lake and Rockford does not catch me flat footed.

I saw your discs yesterday at Loco at the Mills Bruce, good stuff. I almost had one on my 4th to last hole but apparently Pete Wyngaard can put his disc closer than 4 feet on a 360 foot hole to end the round. One potential USADGC may have opened up at Lombard if I were to finish in the top 20% as I got my berth yesterday!

Peter can bomb.  He probably threw a Roc.

Congrats on qualifying.

Thanks for the compliments on the CTP discs.  Those were paid for by casual players at Baycourt.   ;D

The Lombard trophy discs are looking excellent.  I found a solution for heat setting the dye in a way that does not burn the hotstamp.  Some of the gold foil stamps turned silver but none of them are burned or badly degraded.  So the colors are bold and the hotstamps are mostly intact.

$500 [estimated] ace pool for IOS #2.  Really I'm just guessing here.  Jon, how much rolled over from IOS #1?  $280?  If it is $280 we'll have close to $500 on Saturday.

I'm surprised that there aren't more people getting excited about THIS WEEKEND :)  Lombard is one of the best stops for the IOS, and I'm really looking forward to it!  I shot a new personal best when I was out there last week, and I'm hoping that I can keep that up when it comes to this weekend and not blow up like I did at kenosha!

A lot of day-of registration just means that the payouts get bigger and there is a little bit to set aside for overalls.

I picked up the Discraft today.  That turned out to be an ordeal.  The route to Discraft from here is a 25 mile drive through residential parts of our suburban lake district with very few gas stations.  I was going to get gas in Union Lake or Walled Lake but then a road construction detour sent us out around Cedar Lake where there are no gas stations.  So two miles short of Discraft we ran out of gas and had to walk .6 miles to a gas station and .6 back.  In the rain.  Uphill, both ways.

I really like the way the custom stamps turned out for IOS 2 & 3.  I might post the artwork later, when I'm at that computer.  The fine details came out pretty good on the plate but some of the areas filled.  That's o.k.  It filled symetrically and evenly, as if it was supposed to be that way.

So I figured out my Discraft pricing tonight.  After pricing the FLX, ESP, and Z so low I cannot mention it in public, I still had enough left over to have 93 more Throw Discraft/DGA Player Packs.  That is the 20 Brass optional player pack you cannot spend on Innova, but I'll let you spend it on Discraft and an IOS towel or Discraft and a Birdie Bag.

Remind me to do the Throw Discraft CTP on hole 1 each day.

I'll get the hotstamp art posted when I get home.

Scanning isn't about the inches it's all about the pixels and those babies are 1244x1244 pixels. The message board isn't "blowing" them up, you did.

The purpose of the hotstamp is to get the really good pricing in a way that does not decrease the value of the disc.  Occasionally, the hotstamp increases the value of the disc, but you never know a winner from a loser until its too late.  If I was selling discs casually at Anna Page Park, those words would be a plus.  Since I sell discs casually Cass Benton and Baycourt, it is just information that distracts from the sale!   ;D  If you buy the disc, make a note where you bought it!

On the warbirds, some of the fine detail filled in with solid hotstamp even though the details made it to the the plate.  That's just the nature of hotstamping.  Z does better with fine details than ESP.  I'm not certain what all discs have which Warbird view on them, but my notes say the side view discs should be the Surges, Buzzzes and Flashes, and the top view would be the Pulses, Meteors, XLs, and Bangers, but I can only confirm the Buzzzes and Pulses.

I've also got some stock Z-Reapers and stock Z-Talons for those of you who were asking, some X-Strati, Drones, Rattlers, 150 Z Storms, and maybe even some 150 Z Talons unless Kelsey hogs them all.  I have hats and t-shirts at below-market prices, Discraft towels and a few rapid dry t-shirts.

Don't forget:  If you want the Throw Discraft bonus brass player pack, you gotta get it when you register or check-in.  I got enough free stuff to pay for 93 of these.

What the Rockford stamp winds up on depends on what sells, but I'm guessing Tsunamis, Rogues, Hurricanes, and something they can sell me in white plastic for trophy discs.

Wikipedia has all the answers!

The warbird designs I'm using are "fanon," as a serious Star Trek geek would say, and although they look familiar, I don't know what series or episode they appeared in.

There are Romulan ships known as birds of prey, however most nerds associate bird of prey with Klingon. Personally, I think the stamp design is reminiscent of a Vor'cha class Klingon ship...

This is what i was referring to:

"Trivia
No Romulan ship has ever been identified on live-action screen as a "Bird of Prey." Lieutenant Stiles stated in TOS episode Balance of Terror that the ship was "painted like a large bird-of-prey." The terms "Romulan Bird of Prey" is therefore a fanon term, as the ships have not been canonically referred to as such by Paramount."

It is at the end of the document after they refer to several ships as birds of prey.

The course is flagged. Adv/Pro will be playing from the cement tees the first round. The 2nd round will be played from the blue tees. Some of them don't have blue tees so the blue flags are by the cement tee pads.

I was out playing some of the holes tonight.. course is in GREAT shape.  I tried to fix a couple of the flags where they were already bent over (just from people hitting them after they tee, not done on purpose).  hole 20 plays nice just like last year.  I like how that was all marked out.

NOTE: if you are coming NORTHBOUND on Meyers Rd, there is road construction at the intersection of Meyers & Madison St. and a sign that says no left turn.  I didn't get a ticket, but I had one really angry driver because I didn't see the sign until after I was sitting to make my left turn.  I would recommend that if you're coming from the south along Westmore-Meyers rd, turn left at Wilson Ave, go past the course (you'll see 8 and 9), turn right on Fairfield Ave, turn right onto Madison, turn right into parking lot.  You can also go north past madison and work your way back, but use mapquest or google maps for those directions.

Who were the divisional winners today?
Any Aces?
It had to be one of the nicest days ever for a tournament.

I don't remember hearing about any aces. It was really nice out, but the wind was swirling and made it a guessing game on a lot of shots as to where the disc was going to end up halfway there. Dana Vicich won AM1 with a 4 down on the day. That's all I got right now!

Good time today, despite my continual up & down play. If only the rain had held off for a bit.
Thanks to the Brakels, Brett, Mike Krupicka, Mike Clark, and everyone else who made the event happen & go as smooth as it does.

At lunch when I wanted to listen to my own music it was a little annoying.  However, when it was pouring and we all came off the course because of lightening, they were very cool allowing us golfers to take cover and stand at the perimeter of the pavillion while they were all boogeying to some kind of balkan music.  I will admit my legs started to twitch as I caught on to the rhythms.  They were all in crazy time signatures. I'm not sure if it was an Albanian Bar Mitzvah or what it was but they looked like they were having fun. So were we!

it was such a bizarre range of music that was playing.  I know the guys in the pickup truck when loading up their stuff was sharing Latino music with the whole world.  I understood some of the spanish lyrics.  When the music first started up it sounded very much like the music I've heard when I went to an Indian food restaurant.

Did many of them speak english?  I know when they were moving a picnic table they stopped right in the middle of the fairway on hole 20 for a good couple of minutes while just standing there to rest I guess before taking it the rest of the way.  They were very unresponsive when we tried to call out to them and say that where they were at was not a very good place to be!

Upper day results are posted.  We believe that all Advanced players who beat or tied me qualified for Am Nationals, and that's who we gave invites to.  Congratulations to Marie Schwinn on her first win in Open Women.  She played trophy-only and is still eligible for Am Worlds.

Lower day results should be up in the next day or two.  When pre-reg is weak, there is not time to do same-day scoring.

The only lower day division I remember isn't even a division: Am IV.  Scott Pitner, Dave Barrish, Jenny Haug, Diana Brakel, and Mike Krupika finished 1-5 of the top eleven.  Three of the eleven were trophy-only.  Kira was 7th or 8th.  Huge turn out for Am IV.

Many thanks to fivetone.com for the gift certificates.

Thanks to the Brakels and all the volunteers!  Had a blast at the tournament...even though there were some bizarre moments.  People with pointy ears and tails, old ladies walking a cockatoo, and a glittery egg behind a tree.   Before anyone asks, I am 100% illegal substance free.

I would've like to shot better the second round, but after I threw my first run spider in the pond, I lost all focus.  I think that was the closest I have ever come to crying in a tournament.  Talk about no mental toughness!  I gave up 6 strokes after my baby sunk.  It has been with me since I started playing disc golf!  As soon as the round was over, I dove in the pond and found it.  What a relief.  I still have a star eagle in the pond, but I'm not attached to that disc. It sunk after I hit a duck on hole 3.  It'll make some rec player happy.  Amazingly, I have not developed any parasite, fungal, viral, or bacterial infections from swimming in the pond.  I'm a little concerned about Greg G.  He actually dipped his head under the water!

Two things.

1.  It was originally the Lombard Pandimensionals.  Things came to that tournament from all known eleven dimensions, including those people who get by on our planet by pretending they like to wear long furry fake tails.  That glittery egg was an n-dimensional field generator that allows some of those folks to wedge their way into our four dimensional time space.  That cockatiel was actually walking the woman.  The owner-pet relationship is the other way around where they come from.  They think humans make a wonderfully trainable pet.  And on Altus 4, accordian music is the highest form of art, so lay off on those guys, too.

2.  We all worry about Greg Guther.  He's like #3 on my list of ten good reasons to buy the insurance for every event.

My pre-reg was in Brett's hand Sunday morning.  :)

Becky has her hand's full at day-of registration, so I don't think this should fall on her, but if there was someone "officially" taking pre-registrations for a tournament at the previous tournament it might help. I'm not sure how this would look. Maybe someone sitting the next table down from Becky and she could send them over, or a sign at the merch table that pre-registrations would be accepted.

Becky will take pre-reg for any of our tournaments pretty much any other time during the day other than registration. Starting with Crystal Lake I will keep a pre-reg folder with me at the leader board. Anyone that wants to register for Rockford during registration at Crystal Lake should see me at the leader board. I'll try to make a sign for that also.

You save $5 if you pre-register. You're charged $3 to register online. So, you're actually only saving $2 by pre-registering (if  you do so online).

If I pay the day of the event, do I pay the advertised price on the flyer or do I pay the advertised price + $5? For example, the flyer says advanced is $40. If I pay earlier, online, I pay $38. If I pay the day of the event is it $45? Or $40 because I didn't get the discount?

Maybe the day of needs to be $10, especially if they're being discounted $5 right away.

Lunch hour might be a good time.  It might be a good idea to make an announcement at Crystal to prereg for Rockford and that once the morning chaos is over that Becky or whoever will be available to take your preregistration.

I usually eat lunch at the park and would be willing to help with this on Sunday.

It's $5 off the flyer price so Advanced would be $35, $15 for Trophy only.

The problem is that there are many that may not be enough in the know to be able to identify a Discontinuum officer. A sign at the merch table will probably help big time to publicize pre-registration.

You always save $5 when you pre-register. The online fee to pay for the tournament is completely optional. We have an address listed at brasscash.com that you can send a check to, you can pay a leagues in person, you can pay at the event prior or you can pay any officer of Discontinuum anywhere you see them. Online payment is a convenience. Save the convenience fee and send in a check or hand one of us some cash!

And what about Ray or Roger? Do they have to play advanced, at any point?

Who knows how to get ahold of the Fivetone people?  A few days after the tourney, I used my CTP gift certificate to buy a t-shirt (no, it did does have pink skulls on it).  I still haven't received my order.  I've e-mailed the people and haven't gotten a response, and when I call, there's just a voice mail.  My credit card was charged $4 for s/h.   It's cool that they shelled out money for the tourneys, but so far, I'm not impressed with their business.  >:(

Found at IOS#2: Men's off white thermal shirt. It's been washed and will be at registration at IOS#3. Check with Becky.
