spoken like a true Packer fan.
Colts by a field goal, somewhere in the low 20s. I hope the Bears win, and it won't surprise me if they do, but I'm not expecting it.
I put in Colts 38, Bears 16 for my scores picker thingie... we shall see.
Chris Berman said tonight on ESPN Colts 30, Bears 20.
Other predictions?
Bears 23
Colts 22
Colts 21
Bears 28 in overtime :)
Bears 31
Colts 24
At least 1 Defensive TD
Bears are gonna roll over the colts
Colts 9
Bears 28
I have NFC 8 and AFC 3 in a pick a square pool. Peyton is going to be soooo frustrated. I, Swami Chainmeister, see another safety and a handful of field goals. Bears 18 Colts 13. By the way...Packers 0. ;D ;D I see a century of yards for both #'s 20 and 32. Its going to be a physical beat down.

it is impossible to win by 7 in overtime because it is suddent death. if we go to OT tied at 21-21, the most we can score is 6 so it would be 27-21.
i don't know why i felt it necessary to explain this.

It's ok, Maddisen would have given Becky a sarcastic beat down if she'd have seen this...don't know WHERE she gets that!!! O0
BEARS 63 COLTS -6
bears by 10
CHI 30
IND 21
Special teams will score a TD for Chicago, and Jones will have a TD run of 50+ yards, and Benson will get the other TD. 3 FG's by GOLD as well.
Manning will have 2 TD's, one of 'em being a BOMB early. Addai will probably get the third TD.
Now if all this happens, I'm playing the lotto.

I got some good picks in my square pool here at work. Bears 7 and 3, Colts 7 and 1 (two different squares). Definitely excited now!

Tom,
Perhaps you would like to go double or nothing. I'm thinking a sandwich would go really good with that beer.
Here's the pool I'm running this year. Actually got over 80 people to turn in a sheet. This wad-o-money is burning a hole in my pocket...
Nice horsey.
I have a 5 colts, 2 bears ... not so great unless it's a field goal kicking contest... but then I also have 0 colts, 4 bears... lots better. I also went in with 4 other people with one more square and we have colts 7, bears 9, something like that. So two decent squares... not too bad. $10/square, so could have a chance to win something nice. there's going to be an interesting thing with $100 for first downs and $100 for yardage, so at least those who have goofy numbers still have a chance at something!
Oh, let's see.
Colts Bears
1 5
1 3
3 5
3 3
1st 6
2nd 7
3rd 1
4th 7
(Last digit of the sum of the scores)
I'll take 3-3 after the first.
That'll give me $200!

And by the way, ESPN played out the super bowl in Madden '07 as usual. I believe it has been right for at least the last 3 years, I cant find any info on it from earlier than that. Colts 38, Bears 27.

The Bears make it happen..
Chicago 32
Indy 18
Oh yea in Overtime of course !
Quick note...
In 1985 it was bitterly cold in Normal Illinois, after the Bears Locked up the Super Bowl, my friends and I decided to gather in the quad at ISU, for some celebrating, we were the only idiots out there freezing , to add insult to injury. A member of our group decided to tackle a phone booth and broke his leg.
I hope he's careful this year, and that goes for all of the board also.

now that it's 21 years later and not many phone booths still out there, it should be easier to not be prone to injury. Tackle a cell phone, much easier (and less painful!)

whoops.
So are all the Bears fans crying in your beer?
I have to say I am not a fan of the Bears or Colts but Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy are by far better class acts than any other head coaches in the NFL.
And I couldnt think of two more deserving teams to be in the Super Bowl.
I especially liked how they both made the African-American part of the deal but not the MAIN FOCUS!
.
I Guess us Bears fans will just have to find solice in the fact that we are still better than and made it farther than the Fudge Packers
I'm a Bears fan & it was a great year. They exceeded my expectations. I would have liked to see them run the ball on that 2nd & 1 play rather than throw it.
At least the Packer fans have something to root for. Rooting against the Bears will be the only thing you have to look forward to. Farve & Green are done! I see a trend developing.
2006 8-8 No playoffs
2005 4-12 No playoffs
Both the Champions (Colts) and the Bears had great seasons and surprised their naysayers all year. The setup was for a classic game. It was not so. the game was exciting because the Colts, who thoroughly outplayed the Bears, could not put the game away. They had to be nervous becuase until Rex's bad pick in the 4th Quarter it was a close game. The stats indicated a blowout but the score indicated the Bears were one mistake away from taking the lead. Lots of fumbles, interceptions, failures on both sides. Indy kept driving down the field and had to kick because they couldn't finish once they got to the Red Zone. Chicago came in telling everybody how tough they were. The reality is they got beat up by both Indy's offensive and defensive lines. Those guys earned the trophy, not the skill players including the hall of fame quarterback. Time and time again the Colts were able to convert on third down because the line gave Mannning all day and all night to find somebody open. I saw one clutch play for the Bears. Robbie Gould's 44 yard field goal in driving rain put them back in the game.
Had my team played well and lost I would be satisfied. In this game neither team played like it wanted to win. The Bears seemed to want to win even less than the Colts did and they deserved to lose. The beer was cold, the food was good, the TV worked well and Prince was also a clutch player in driving purple rain, so it was a good show even with a bad game. How about them Bulls.
Bad game?!?!?!?!? What game did you watch? NO ONE goes to the Super Bowl and DOESN'T want to win. That's ridiculous! It was a sloppy game but that matched the conditions. The Bears defense kept them in it until the last quarter when they were too tired from being on the field all the time. Rex was actually having one of his good games...you just couldn't tell because the receivers were not getting open. The Bears were one of the best red zone defenses this year, so it's not that surprising that the Colts couldn't "finish them off". Anyway, I'm very pleased with their season and fairly pleased, but still disappointed, with the Super Bowl.
Only 5 1/2 months until Training Camp!!! O0
i totally disagree when chainmeister says neither team played like it wanted to win. i have no clue why you would even say that. sure there were some fumbles but it was a hard rain through the whole thing. i thought they both left it on the field and the colts were just better that day. Our defense couldn't get off the field. Manning and the colts offense was just too much. Grossman totally sucked, but it wasnt' all his fault as he hardly even had the ball and our run game was non-existent.
For next year, we need to address QB consistency and stopping the run (obviously no Tommie Harris hurt alot the last part of the season).

Thats not much of a trend, considering the Packers greatly improved over 2005, and theres nothing to indicate that they wont be an even better team this year.

And word on the street is they'll be getting Moss...
I disagree with Jon and Dan for different reasons. Obviously, everybody on the field wants to win. However, it was a sloppy mistake filled game. Both teams made lots of mistakes. The Colts were the better team and deserved to win. However, they could not succeed in the red zone. You can argue the Bears stood up in the red zone. Perhaps. However, they got pushed around all day. Once again, the Colts line played to win and deserved the win. Rex was actually ok until he threw up a beach ball for his first interception. Both teams had very good years and should be proud of themselves. Both teams had a chance to win this ugly game because the Colts couldn't kill an injured beear and because the Bears couldn't take advantage of the many chances the Colts gave them. The Bears defense was tired from being on the field all game. Why? two reasons- game plan and execution. Game plan- they denied the deep ball. Manning played ball conrol and ate up moderate sized yardage seemingly at will. execution- The Bears were pushed around the line of scrimmage everywhere except inside their own 20. Compare this game to the great games in the past few weeks where somebody won the game with great play rather than somebody holding on because the other team couldn't get it done. I figure every other playoff team watched this one and said, "@$*& we could have beat those guys!" Its not the first time the game has been a bit of a downer. In fact most super bowls have been awful games. Only in recent years have they been good games. Not this year.
any word on how bad Cedric Benson's injury is? That was a major blow to the offensive plans. Getting hurt like that is exactly why I turned down the guys that wanted me to play on the offensive or defensive line in high school. Football is a painful game.

That 8-8 is very decieving. The only team the beat with a winning record was Chicago in a meaningless week 17 game. 4 of their wins came against MN & Det. The other 3 came against Ari, Mia, & SF. With an aging team it's going to be the trend.
Some thoughts on last night's game:
The Bears were who Denny Green thought they were.
You'd think a professional quarterback who has been paid over 5 million dollars since 2003 could do what most high school qbs have mastered -- hang on to the snap!
I can't believe how many 3rd and longs the Colts converted.
The Bears could run against the Colts. Especially with Grossman so shaky why did Turner abandon the game plan? Ego? With 2nd and 1 Turner calls for two pass plays??? The result -- Grossman stumbles on 2nd down and fumbles the snap on 3rd! What is Turner thinking?
A lot of the blame for the offense's low time of possession falls on the offense themselves.
Congratulations to the Colts. They dominated on both sides of the ball.
Both Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith are class acts.
This technically was Rex's first year as a QB he hadnt played the last two years with injuries.
I think he'll mature as a QB and be worth the money. It is easy for all of you Sunday Night/Monday Night Arm Chair Quarterbacks to disect the game and focus on all the bad things that happened in that game the fact is that elements that were not the norm for a superbowl game were there.
By the way your right that the packers had the easiest schedule - and the Bears had the 2nd easiest, at 8-8 they have plenty of improvements to make. However, The Bears have no where to go but down.
Have fun on the Downward Spiral :)
if u think the Packers are on their way up, I'd love to hear why!
Do you think your defense showed alot of improvement this year?
Do you think your about to get alot better at the RB or QB positions?
Do you think your #1 WR at 33 years old is about to get alot better?
The Pack has a miserable outlook, and thats the end of that conversation.
The Bears did have a super easy regular season schedule which we dominated..........and guess what we won 2 games in the playoffs against winning teams as well! We were clearly the best in the NFC and we have youth all over the field, so I don't see a huge letdown coming next year where we can't even beat the vikes/lions/packers.
I disagree with you that the Packers are not going to get better over last season. Their young receiving core has some pretty good depth and with more additions to the defense like AJ Hawk, they could be a top wild card contender. Of course I'm a Lions fan so lots of things look better than they possibly are. :)
for all you Packers and Colts fans, and anybody who still wants to dump on ol' Rex...
I don't think this one made the Sports Illustrated report...
looks like grossman is smiling :o

So, is that photo doctored or just from some other game? It's not from the super bowl for sure. The only time that the Bears wore dark on dark this year was in their loss to Green Bay. The Bears wore Dark shirts/white pants for the super bowl.
Yea actually that photo did look weird to me. It was from the Green Bay game, I saw it in the paper. Someone must have photoshopped it.
they did some excellent photoshopping work
It still makes me chuckle.

That's the fun of still photography. Something that probably happened for about 1/2 of a second in real time looks like prison sex in still photos.
