Title: Disc Golf on TV in Chicago area
Post by: Disc Golf Live on February 27, 2007, 06:04:19 AM
Hi, troops.

Joe here from Disc Golf Live video magazine.

Just wanted to drop in a link here for folks in the greater Chicago area:

http://www.accesschannel.com/faq.asp

This is your local access station website, operated through the Comcast folks.  Click on the Forms link and you can see the dozens and dozens of communities reached by the community access stations in the area.  Really check the list.  This system covers a huge area.

For folks in the area who are interested in promoting disc golf, these stations can be a great way to bring our favorite game to more and more people.  I'm already producing the shows, so all I need are folks on the local end who want to take the time to get the shows broadcast locally.

The websites give pretty good instruction on what you'll have to do to join and get broadcasts up and running; you'll be able to get the show shown in your area, as well as other stations within the area if you make the request.  With the popularity of DG in the area, there must be a few willing volunteers who want to use this great public resource to promote DG locally.  You won't even have to take training at the station, just be a local resident and complete the proper request forms.

I send out the shows on DVD and its easy to make up a tape to meet local standards.

The upcoming show is episode #16, and production is wrapping up for release later this week.  The episode will feature the '06 Am Nats final round, with the Toboggan being shown from hole 1 through 18.  A story on #7 at Winthrop is also included, as is a piece on the MSDGC.  For those big Brakel fans out there, there's plenty of Bruce in this one.  Fortunately, he's usually down range!

Did I mention the shows are free to local broadcast partners?

Also, the Home edition is available if your club is interested in licensed reproduction or premade copies of the shows.

Best regards, happy discing.

Joe
