I am SSSSSOOOOOOOO borded at work today - all I can think about is disc golf putting styles. I have two deadlines within the next 5 days and have little chance of making either of them unless I slam myself into turbo mode. So what am I doing? Spinning a mini.
Anyway, I am going to the Greater Peoria Open, a PDGA A-Tier event on June 8th & 9th. It is a Supertour and is usually attended by many pros, usually have decent player packages, and fun contests. I have never been there, but this is what I hear. I'll be going EARLY Saturday morning (June 8th), staying Sat night at Jumer hotel, returning Sunday afternoon. It is only a 2-hour drive. Advanced and Pros only. Anyone want to join me? Entry fee is $40.
Also, just confirmed that I will be a staff official at the 2002 Womens' Championships also held in Peoria at the end of September. Woo-hoo! What a great opportunity! I have been asked to encourage all women to play at this event. It is the first time Illinois has hosted any Championships, and if you don't want to play in a major PDGA tourney but wonder what the hoopla is about, volunteer to be a spotter or scorekeeper, and find out.
OK, call me wishy-washy, but I am now NOT going to Peoria on June 8th/9th. Parkside is pouring concrete that weekend for the new 9 tees, and I believe helping out locally is more important than touring - at least for me. I encourage everyone to either help at Parkside or go play a tourney - either way you are helping disc golf and yourself!
Also, Can I pickup that wacker tonight or tomorrow Brett?
Jim,
I might go. It depends though. I might just go to watch. My family only lives 45 minutes from Peoria & my sister-in-law lives in Peoria. I think it would be fun. I haven't played much in the past month but if I start playing & I feel I can at least throw halfway decent I will go & play for sure.
Jim,
I might be heading to Waukegan on Saturday. Call me Saturday & i'll try to get it to you.
