Hello,
Is Gary Lewis still TDing the Lumber Cup? If so, could Jon or someone contact him and see if he will give permission for you to post tourney registration information including his address to send the entry fee. Thanks in advance. At what course will the Lumber Cup be played at this year. If it is Joliet, then I just plan to drive up that day. If it is Mokena, I will be getting a hotel room Sat. night.
the lumber cup is in joliet at west park
Here is the event info. Gary's contact info is on that page.

This is next weekend. West is definetly a deuce or die course. Still, Gary's tourneys are good & West is fun despite it's must-make-birdies nature. Hope to see some of the usual suspects out there.
pre reg available thru

1 reason I know Gary gets huge attendance is his low entry fees. 28 bucks for ADV. I don't even care if the payout isn't that great (not saying that Gary's isn't) if I'm only tossing down 28 bucks to play.
Paying 45 bucks for a 1 day event is brutal, no matter how much merch you can win.

I hear that! Heck even $35 for Int at Wham Bam is high, but I know he's giving good player's packs & CTPs, and for me, that's good value. That way I'm not thinking about whether or not I'll be winning(usually not), I can just focus on making the next shot & forgetting the last one.
I'm pre-registered
Will hit up a breakfast spot in Joliet beforehand & then a full round to practice before if anyone wants to meet up
Playing on a Saturday again...feels weird

bah, humbug! :P
In all seriousness I'm not that worried. Even if Joliet gets a bunch of rain Th night, with Friday between it & the event I feel OK about the conditions.
I know this is always an annoying question, but anybody have a good sense of when this one might finish?
Some time Saturday afternoon/evening
25 or 27 holes, lots of people, looking like decent weather
Just about the same as any other decently run tournament
if it's a full field, which it usually is or close to it, you're looking at a couple of 3-hr rounds, so it'll be 5 at the earliest before the awards start.
I'm not going to start a new thread for this but it is kind of funny. I went out to Kensingtion to sign up myself and the kid for the DGLO. Within the space of five minutes I ran into KVN, Barrett White and Elliot Fu. I thought I was in Michigan. I felt so confused.
its a rough feeling when i'm jealous of kevin lavely
KVN was asking assistant TD Todd White where to camp and Todd said, "Camp at my house. I'm five minutes away." Then KVN started trying to sell Todd Quest stuff. :o KVN did THAT in the right order! ;D
DGLO update on the Lumber Cup thread:
KVN played like a pro today and is in a cashing place after the first round. Kira caddied for Scott Papa from Washington and he played very well. I spotted all day for four discs and a sammywhich. Kira spotted half the day for two discs.
Barrett is one throw off last cash. Kira is caddying for Barrett tomorrow.
Kira has caddied three rounds so far for three different players, and she has spotted for the equivalent of a round. She's been getting paid in cash and discs and selling the discs she won't ever throw to me for wholesale. She's up $85 and two really good discs.
I've spotted for the equivalent of two rounds [22 foursomes on hole 1 and 18 foursomes on hole 17 at the Tobbogan, and I've sold a few discs too, by accident, right out of my bag! And I've bought some discs from Kira. I'm up $26 and eight discs.
I love this tournament!
Although I was driving sucky in the morning, my putting was on fire. Todd More mentioned that he had never seen me putt so well. I was putting with center weighted Crossfires. So a guy in our group bought them from me on the lunch hour. The other disc I sold out of my bag I was hoping to sell it when I put it in my bag, a 2003 DGLO Z Storm. He offered me $25 for it but I thought $20 was plenty.
I played pretty sucky today. Barrett played well. KVN was so-so. Kelsey was so-so but she's been playing all left-handed for the past four or five months.
(huddles the crew together and mentions ... "Hey, Isn't this the Lumber Cup Thread?") B - U - M - P !
Scores are up .. they ARE unofficial ... The tournament went GREAT!
Many volunteers on hand to help Gary. My thanks to all that helped. Gary's being my mentor on this and what I saw today ... clockwork. Scores came in for the first round and ... well... I just had to watch. They were checked and double checked and added to the leaderboard in minutes. They gave them to me, if I had an Internet connect the scores would have been up. It was amazing to witness. Steve, Paul and Jason did the bulk of the checking etc and poof done. We had 30 minutes to spare before the second round started. Same thing took place second round and even after cleaning up we were out of the park by 5:50pm. Many hands do make light work.
Quite a lot of work done on the course too, mostly in the area of cleanup and making the course better accessed .. ie: stairs cut in on Hole 16 going from tee to basket ... some felled trees cut and removed (wooded courses do tend to grow over). Many improvements.
Total field: 98 ... non-PDGA, 58.
Weather P E R F E C T ! (I think that the NHRA has some agreement with the weather. They are running Nationals or something at Rt 66 Racetrack and the weather is always gorgeous. I know I live 500 yards from the track) It was cool watching people putt and then you'd hear a top fuel dragster take off ... Tomorrow is finals .. The big boys come out then.
Both rounds were about 2 1/2 hours, first card on second round came in at 4:18. Only backup I saw or heard of was Hole A, between 8 and 9. B and C were NOT played today but Gary is on the fence about adding B, C on Sunday.
That's it ... see you tomorrow.
adoni
Good to see Jesse Esquivel take 1st Place in "19 and Under," with 8 down. Jesse's game has really improved over the last year.
Markie Esquivel took 3rd in Intermediate with 12 down. Michael took 3rd in Rec.

great job on getting the scores up!!
'Rating deflation' didn't seem quite so drastic today as I've experienced in other 'Int & below' tournaments. I figured my +1 1st round was around 870 and it came out as 875. I was shocked to see the ratings for the 2nd rd though; there's no way my -6 should've been rated 948, but I'll take it. ;D
I managed to back into the 'Amateur Master' trophy too, apparently since all the other old guys shot worse than I did. Again, I'll take it. (They're great-looking wood plaques.) Payout was really generous too, at least what I got.
Great work Gary, Adoni, and everyone else involved. One of the smoothest & quickest I've ever seen.
Awesome weather, great guys, good laughs, decent throws. What more could you ask?
Good to see Damon come on down, surprised more of you guys didn't come out (hope you're at DGLO if you didn't play)but that's your loss.
One thing to wonder, is Gary going to bother rating some of the non-PDGA players to prevent sandbaggers like the IOS does? I know it was an honor system with his tournaments in the past, but it seems there ain't much honor anymore.

Lower Day at IOS #2 19 0f 78(24%) were non-PDGA. Joliet 58 of 98 (59%) Not sure what it means, but it is significant.
Well, one more post and I'm done hijacking this thread. ::) The pro master for whom Kira caddied two rounds at the Toboggan won by one throw!
I played great today but so did most of my opponents. I moved up to third and won a trophy. Kelsey continued to improve, moved up to third and won a trophy.
Amateur payouts were incredible. They gave us a player pack with a SuperColor Surge, ESP Meteor, hat, a supercolor mini and a $5 lunch coupon for the park sandwich shop. On top of that they did a 150% payout and a jumbo toss with plenty of discs. There was bottled water and Vitamin Water on the course and fruit at tournament central.
They did some stupid, senseless things, like design the tournament so the women mostly won't get ratings, but overall it was great. The thing with the women they can fix if they want. They probably won't. Oh, well.

...oh, is this the Lumber Cup thread??
I imagine Adoni will be as efficient as yesterday and post the results before bedtime, but Brett tied for 2nd in open, McManus won a fairly tight battle for advanced GM and I managed to hang onto 3rd and win some more stuff I don't really need.
27 holes, about 100 played. Stickier and buggier than yesterday but still a good time.
I played both rounds with Tom; he consistently recovered from the few mistakes he made with big drives and/or putts. Me, less often, but at least there were no complete meltdowns this weekend.

Thanks Damon! Scores are posted. I do hope I got everyone in the right divisions. My wife helped and I was told at the break that there was some shuffling of Grandmasters players. I did compare the spreadsheet to the leader board and things jived. I even got the tie breakers. My game went south. Sheesh .. My mind was everywhere ... my second shot on hole 19 was proof. I lined up to make this 75 foot approach .. wound up and tossed ... the disc stuck to my hand and ended up 9 feet to my RIGHT ... it did NOT have forward motion, IT WENT RIGHT. Brad Dow .. the look on your face was priceless. I just stood there ... mouth agape. Oh well ... c'est la vie!
I do plan on being at Crystal Lake ... I GOTTA get my game back.
ciao all

ps .. please post any and all corrections and I'll fix them.

Is that article correct? There were 5 aces on Sat?!? That's insane
Yeah, it's completely true. I actually got to see 2 of them. I was waiting to throw #22 & saw an Ace on #21. Then in the 2nd round someone in my group Aced #2. (Deja Vu!)
They all got like $30. Ouch!
I also noticed Bob Ryan's PDGA # is wrong. #2609.

Yes, 5 aces on Saturday, each got $28. Still not a bad return on a $2 investment.
