Went and checked out the grand opening of this new Fly 18 course. Its actually pretty awesome. There is plenty of water and OB and other challenges. Not just boring straight holes like Edgebrook. Its 10 times better than that. This is actually a par 72 course with 4 par 5's over 1000 feet. It also had mach V baskets. Its a fun time and I would recommend checking it out. However, we only got to play all 18 today because somebody had to move the front 9 baskets to the back 9 after we played the holes. I guess all 18 baskets will not be installed for atleast another week or so, so I'd double check before going down there or you will be throwing at poles.
I agree with Dan. Lots of hazards(water, sand and trees) that demand accuate shots. It helps if you can get some distance too, there is a 1200 ft hole. In fact I think this is definitely going to be my favorite course in the area. I hope to get back out there this weekend to confirm. The remaining baskets should be out by Thrusday(the official opening).
Where exactly is this course located? I can't wait to play!
Any more info on this course? golf carts? fees?
1 round w/cart is 15 bucks. It took us close to 5 hours to play 18 holes as a foursome on a busy Sunday. Course is right off of 94. Just take Rt 6 (159th St.) exit East to Park Ave and you are at the course. Get a scorecard for the disc golf course when you are there. All the teepads are on the cart paths and are marked with yellow paint. From what the dude who runs the golf course was saying, they don't get alot of golfers during the week which is the reason they are trying disc golf.
Was going to possibly go out here with my brother this weekend but only the front 9 are in so far....bunk ???
false. i played all 18 on friday afternoon, 4 may. the back nine were installed on thursday, 3 may. btw, i aced hole 17.

Congrats on the Ace Spike!
Weird that when I called them they said only the front 9 was in........
thanks, muke.
tom, i believe is the course pro there, and he appeared to be a pretty cool guy, and was real open to the idea of having disc golfers around. everyone that i encountered was pretty friendly and curious about the baskets that had sprung up.
re: all the baskets; i wouldn't be too surprised to find out that some of the baskets have been pulled or relocated to another course, given who is involved in the installation of the course. i'd call again to confirm, but like i said, there were 18 last friday at 3pm. it is pretty inconvenient for me to get there from where i live (dan ryan construction, etc.), but i'll play this course again when i'm in the area, regardless of where the money trail leads.
Let me know when you do Spike. I'd be down to check it out.
Which fly18 is better, Edgebrook next Monday late afternoon or Calumet City
Tuesday afternoon?
Got a chance to play this course before it's pulled. Very good fly18 course. I wish we were able to get a course similar to this on the north side.
Is this course still open? Do they have baskets? How much to play? I saw this on the fly18 site but have seen nothing of it on the pdga website. Any info?
they pulled those baskets
