Title: Am Nationals 2007
Post by: Bruce Brakel on May 25, 2007, 06:41:17 AM
So who all is coming from Discontinuum country?  I wish Todd would put up the pre-reg but he has a real job.

For women who might want to travel with their guy, there's a women-only tournament that weekend in Lansing.  From the Tobbogan, Lansing is only about 45 minutes away and easy to get to.

I've offered bed space to the Adrians, the Schwinns and the Michler.  I have not heard from the Schwinns or the Michler, but my in box was full.  If anyone wants free camping, I have a big yard.  I'm about 30 minutes away from the course, 19 miles according to mapquest.

Once you get here, I'd be happy to car pool if anyone wants to save on gas.

Taylor: Glad to see you just missed the cut playing with Brett Stryker. I know him from last year...not personally, but he was disqualified for a couple reasons. First impression: not a cool guy. Patrick Byrd is a friend of mine. Hope you had fun playing with him.

Good Luck to all the DISContinuum members.

I'd love to see one of the 06 DVD's. If anyone has a copy I could borrow I would be very grateful.

Local boy Jamie Mosier and local master Michael Frame are tearing it up.  The 980 rated guy from Kansas is right where he should be, too.  Jamie is about Kelsey's age.  A little further down the list, 14 year old Ziggy Bierkoven is making a good showing for a kid.  Ziggy is the kid who went swimming at my ice bowl in sub-zero weather.  He has been hot ever since he thawed.

I'm getting beat up pretty badly here.  I'm 16 over course par right handed and even to course par left handed, but there are only three holes I throw lefty.  I got a lot of excuses but I'm keeping them to myself.

I've cashed big, anyway.  MC Mark Ellis told me Friday he needed some legal answers by the end of the tournament so I've been sneaking over to the library between the end of my round and the beginning of Lizard Games when otherwise I'd be sitting in the hot sun doing nothing.  I'm ahead by a dozen First Run Torqs and a finely tuned set of wind chimes.

This tournament is the most fun event you can play as an amateur outside of Worlds.  I had an awesome time again and can't wait to go back again next year.  The Toboggan is such a demanding course and the amateur field is the deepest of any event you'll play.  Some very good competition.

I'm totally exhausted today after playing the course 5 times in 4 days.  Stayed with Rapp, matesevac, dave k., jose, and dana.  Very fun time.  Thanks to Adrian Sr. for finding my CFR Wraith that I lost during the tournament on Hole 17 (only 40 from the pin).

Dana scooped my speed golf time by 3 seconds and won it..........on his 2nd try!!!  Just for doing it twice I'll give him mad props.  Adrian Jr. did it twice also, both you dudes are insane.  I am hurting for real today after doing it 1 time.

Played Hole 12 at +4 for the 3 rounds.  That was the killer for me.  Missed 3 putts inside 20 on that hole.  I'll just have to get em next time.

I actually did play with Stryker the 3rd round. I knew him before that and was not looking forward to it but I think he really has toned down on his anger issues and he was actually very enjoyable to play with. Patrick was a cool guy too and he played a solid game day 1 and then again yesterday apparently with that HOT 57! He kept his cool and just went through the motions very well, it was impressive to watch.

I couldn't seem to get anything going for me over the weekend. The only good thing that I did was 3'd hole 6 all three rounds. Looking at the scores of the top 10 on that hole it looks like that is the only thing I have to be proud of from the weekend! Well, that and landing a mini on top of a moving car for a free disc.

The course is unreal and definitely worth the trip for anyone that has a chance to play there in the future. The tournament was awesome and very well run. It was pretty exciting to have an announcer on the first tee, cameras all over the place and tents every 3 holes with water, gatorade and fruit.

i just realized that i've been to this event 2 times and both times i tied with Ron Huspen.  unreal!  he got into some confrontations on the course once again as well.  its amazing how he makes even the calmest people blow up.  I've got a gameplan for the next time i get Factor'd.

If I qualify at Rockford this year, I'll play it again next year.  On steroids.  From the ankles to the knees I'm all hives and scabs.

I heard that there was a marshall who had to walk with a group for a little while because of a player who needed to be "watched?"

If I qualify again I would love to go back and play this event. As you all mentioned, I believe it to be one of the best am events. On paper, and by scores, it definitely looked like a very strong field this year.

Speed golf...twice??? Insane. Did Adrian Jr. throw up again this year  ;D

Watching good ol RF miss a 15 footer on 18 and take a 4 was great and then proceed to yell at the people who were picknicking and blame them and their music.

Dan, what is your plan for your next Factor confrontation?

when we meet on the 1st tee i'm just walking up and coldcocking that SOB.  that way we'll get it all out of the way before the round and then i can focus.
