Title: 2007 Illinois State Championships
Post by: Cannon Boy on July 08, 2007, 11:36:43 AM
I heard and have now seen on pdga.com that the stat championships are next sunday at Mokena but I can not find the flyer or any info for the event.  I have tried the website that they give on the pdga site muiltiple times and it does not work(www.jolietdiscgolf.com).  I would just like to know check in times and prices, but a website or upload of there flyer would be best.  Thanks!

Can we still pre register?  It suggests doing so by the 7th.  Anyone know what the deadline is to get the check in?

The website is still taking pre-reg. At this point you might think about going that route.

This is a great tournament.  Everyone should go.  I'd like to be there.

It does not provide me with the practice on the skills I need to sharpen for Worlds, so I'll probably be keeping it local, playing courses with tunnel shots.

For anyone interested, J Dobberstein and I will be playing a practice round out there on Saturday night after the Int/Rec day. We will be playing in Joliet one round before that around 2. Course yet to be decided there.

D'oh!  Forgot I am house sitting this weekend.  I'll be in Northfield, just off the Edens at Willow.  Anyone want to carpool from that area?

Several guys from Springfield will be playing in the advanced division. I would like to buy a couple extra 27th Illinois State Championship shirts if anyone prizes out and wants to sell the shirt. Great tourney.

Like a dummy, I waited until the last minute and pre reg in closed.  Anyone know how full it is?  Pdga.org shows very few intermediate registered, but I don't know how current that is.  Wonder how early I need to show up Sat to get in?

Years ago the PDGA had Adv Masters and Int Masters.  Gary offered Intermediate Masters on unsanctioned Saturday.  When the PDGA abolished Intermediate Masters Gary continued to offer the division unsanctioned.  Now that he is sanctioning the lower day, he is giving a recognition prize of some kind, maybe even a trophy, to the masters aged player who puts up the best score in Intermediate.

That's what that means.

Get there by 8 & you should have no problems. Gary doesn't get a lot of pre-reg, mostly same day. There will be a lot of people though, so don't wait until 9.

Was great weather, if a bit windy, and a great time. Good to see friends from Peoria & the Quad Cities make it out.

Jay Rawlings Aced #7 first round, which was also a 50/50 hole.

Joe Stephens took Intermediate.

Good luck to all playing tomorrow!

Thanks all.  I played like a blind monkey on Sat., but I had one good shot at least. Picked the right time to hit my first ace.

The thought occured to me.  But I doubt it.  I don't know what the rules are, but there were only 5 DGACers there.

Yeah, well for that shot at least.   ;)   I came pretty close to it the second round too.

ok, so there was a guy that came over to talk to me after the tournament was over Sunday evening at Mokena, and I'm sorry but I don't think I ever caught your name!  You helped me carry a couple baskets from Bruce's van to my van.  Thanks for the help, and sorry I didn't get a chance to say bye!  It was nice to chat with you. :)

Local clubs represented well. Randy Moore Jr (from the Fox Valley Metro club) also hit an ace. I forgot which one he said it was, but it was over 300 feet. Randy came in 7th in Advanced.

And Tree (Gary Camp) took 1st place in Advanced Masters.

To those of you who were there on that back up hole when I was talking to the junior, the 16 and under junior entry fee was so low, no payout was required.  If the junior said he paid $22, he must have been including the ace pool and the 50/50 CTPs.  So if Gary paid the top 6, that was 6 more than he was required to pay.

I learned two powerful lessons yesterday at the State Tournament.

1) Two rounds at Mokena is more of an endurance contest than a golf tournament;

2) When you're intending to drive with an Orc and you've got a Sidewinder that's about the same color, be sure the disc in your hand is the Orc.

disc golf tournaments should have some endurance to them.
I mean if pro masters are going to call themselves professional athletes they better be able to handle a long day and some hills. I mean come on now , Lee Trevino does walk the 5 miles of a his tournament courses complainin cuz h'es tired. Fitness should be important to the game just like every other sport

Tom

Unofficial round ratings are still showing on the PDGA website.  Usually those ratings disappear when the official report is in until after the update.  Based on this I assume that it will not be included but what do I know.  ???

Unofficial ratings are still up, which probably means that the TD report has not been submitted.  So scores from this event probably will not make the next ratings update.

I would not have bothered to say what Barish had already said if I had seen him saying it before I said it.  I hit reply, got a call from upstairs, came back and posted.

Am Worlds looks like it is getting processed.

I think by Christmas my rating will be down to 925 or so.   :'(
