Has anyone been to an Ace Race this year? The disc apparently has a cross-hatched underside to the rim.

Maybe somebody in the know will know if that is Discrafts answer to DT, or if it is supposed to have some other purpose
Yep, there are a few of us who went to the Ace Race in Crystal Lake last week.
I really don't know what the cross-hatching is supposed to do, but the disc is very straight for upshot length shots. So, it was ideal for the Ace Race. It doesn't have much fade and had quite a bit of glide. It seemed like a mid to me, but I think Discraft is calling it a driver. I haven't really cranked it, but my guess is that it would turn over quite easily.
Scott (stpitner) still has a bunch for sale and is even considering the possibility of another Ace Race this year.
I really like the disc, it flies like a more understable Roc. It definitely stays in my bag. If you really let it rip it will flip straight maybe turn over a bit and then drop pretty straight down. I guess it flies similar to a DX Shark.
I don't know which Esquivel can be quoted as saying this, but he was saying that the disc flies like a "beat up Buzzz". Discraft classifies it as a slightly longer disc than their mid-range line (so like an Innova speed 6 disc compared to an Innova speed 5 disc).
I do have PLENTY of the discs and player packs left. $20 for the entire player pack that includes a super color mini, a sticker, pencil, hat, and 2 of the Ace race discs. Weights are from about 165 to 176 in red, yellow, or white (no white available > 169g).
Send me an email or PM if interested in a player pack.
I will break up the player packs at some point, but it's by far cheaper to buy the player pack.
As long as Discraft is cool with it and we can get it arranged with a location to run the Ace Race, we are going to try to run another one. We are also considering doing 2 races on the same day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon to make it available for more people to come out and play if they are only available part of the day. The sweetest thing - we teed at 9:30AM, and the award ceremonies were done by noon!
Just as an FYI: The disc is not yet PDGA approved, so don't use it in a sanctioned-tournament, but Discraft will probably have it approved at some point next year when they take it out of prototype status and all of the ace races have been completed for the year.
