Title: Halex disc basket for $60
Post by: Disco on September 11, 2007, 06:52:05 PM
Hello all, I was looking through a local newspaper ad and came upon the Halex disc golf target on sale for $60. It looks similar to the in-step basket which got decent reviews from users. So does anyone own one or have any info on the quality of this basket? Also has anyone tried to upgrade this one by adding extra chains like the in-step?
Seems like a good deal but I would like input from fellow DGers.
Thank you.

It appears as though on Amazon that also comes with 3 discs and it's only $68 so you would probably want to make sure the discs were coming with it to make it a good deal.

As far as the basket goes, I've never even seen or heard of it so I can't comment on that.

The description said it had plastic chains (for a point of comparison, the instep has metal chains). The plastic chains will be quieter, but I'm not sure how they will catch.

I have never seen or heard of the basket before...or the discs.  The discs are not PDGA approved so far as I can tell.  I'm sure a known manufacturer is making these discs for this company, it would be interesting to know who.

I'm not sure about Halex, but the InStep basket is made in China. When I bought it the seller made it sound like they're made locally here in Illinois, but the box had a big old "Made in China" label on it, so did the discs. The plastic the discs were made from was about as soft as a 2x4. The discs were a joke, probably okay for a kid to play around with. At that price who cares about the discs? Even if the basket is made like shit it's still a basket and it gives you something to practice with.
