Another Ace Race is coming to north east Illinois... Stay Tuned for more information!
More info to arrive once the date and course are officially confirmed.
Save the Date: Saturday, October 13th.
Location: Bevier Park, Waukegan, IL
Times and final permits are still under the works, but we're hoping to do something special that day. I'm still waiting to hear back from Discraft.
Whether Discraft gives me the go ahead or not (I'll find out on Tuesday, 10/2), I'm still going to hold TWO ace races at Bevier on Sat, Oct 13th. If they say no to sending me two prize packs, then Paper or Plastic Sports will put together a similar prize pack to give away!
Start times: 9AM and 1PM
Location: Bevier Park in Waukegan, IL
Date: Sat, Oct 13th
BONUS: IF you come out for the 9AM event and pay the full $20 entry fee, you can get in for the 1PM event FOR FIVE BUCKS (provided that we don't max the field by about 12:45). With the $5 you get your choice of another disc or another hat. ALL players will also have a DISCOUNT available (after 12:45pm) to buy a hat for $7, an Ace Race disc for $7, or the combination of a supercolor mini, pencil, and sticker for only $3! You could also buy the entire players pack for $20 and save $4. As of October 14th the prices will go to their regular price: Hats $15, disc $14, Mini $3, pencil or sticker $1 each. Player pack pricing @ $20 is only available through Oct 13th. If you want a player's pack, but you cannot make it to the Ace Race, email me and/or send in a pre-registration before the event. Just tell me that you don't plan on attending the event but want a player's pack. You would have to pay before the end of the day October 13th, but you do not have to pick it up before then. Shipping is available. You may order multiples! We will have a minimum of 87 player packs available!
PLEASE POST, PM, OR EMAIL ME IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND (irregardless on if you pre-register). I want to get a feel on if I told the park district the wrong number of anticipated participants.
FULL MERCH TABLES OF STUFF WILL BE AVAILABLE, and Rob 'em Rewards dollars AND brass cash are accepted!
Paid Pre-Registration stands at ZERO right now, so it's important to at least let me know if you plan on coming out!

Count me and my buddy Kyle in for this one as well.
count me in .
It looks pretty likely that the 2007 Discraft Ace Race disc is going to go into production pretty soon. So those of you who play the Discraft Ace Race will get a nice collectible proto that will become PDGA legal in a couple of months.
UPDATE: I heard back from Erich at Discraft, and they have an ace race rule that you can only hold one official event per week. I can still hold two ace race events on the same day, but what it translates into is that I can only get one trophy pack for the day.
So here's what I'm going to do: for morning players, you can get in to the afternoon round for $5. You'll get your choice of another hat or another disc. The money is used towards a second trophy pack that I'm going to custom build. It will be similar to the one given away in the morning, but it will just not have the Super Color ace race winner mini. The more people that show up to play in the afternoon, the more stuff that goes into the overall trophy pack. If we have a larger turnout for the afternoon round than we do in the morning, then I'll have more stuff in the giveaway bag!
I just received some signs from Discraft to advertise for the event, hopefully I can get them posted soon.
Please help me spread the word to others about the Ace Race!
-Scott
Player Pack Contents: For your $20, you get - 2 Ace Race Prototype discs to use during the ace race, a Discraft hat (your choice of black, khaki, or burnt orange), a super color Ace Race mini, a Discraft Sticker, and a Discraft pencil. A $55 value!
Winners Pack Contents: FOURTEEN Discraft discs - ALL Elite-Z, ESP, or FLX! A Discraft standard size bag, a Discraft towel, and a Discraft Ace Race WINNER mini. There may even be more than that and I've just forgotten! It's a $300 value!
Scott - if you want to get the keys for the message board at Bevier to put one of the signs in there LMK. I have keys at home.
I have one more buddy that is thinking about coming out, but he's not sure whether he can make it yet. I don't remember how you guys did the last ace race, but will you be taking registrations at the tent for any walk-ins?
oh yeah, we're definitely going to take walk ins. Hopefully he can make it to at least one of the two times!
I'm expecting registration to take place for the 9AM one from about 8:30AM - 9:05AM. Then there will be a players meeting to go over the ground rules at 9:15AM. You'll be teed off by 9:30AM. Expect to be having the ceremonies around 11:30AM.
Second round will be 12:30PM - 1:05PM for people who DID NOT get in the first round. People who were in the 1st round will have lunch from about 11:50AM - 12:50PM, and we will open up for registration for repeat players at 12:45PM. I'm not anticipating any problems, but we want to make sure that people who didn't play in the morning get first crack at what is still available for the player packs. We'll have another players meeting at 1:15pm, tee off by 1:30pm, ceremonies at 3:30pm, all the players will be out of there by 4pm.
Bring your spouses, bring your kids! Will they hit an ace? probably not, but they get an awesome players pack with stuff they can keep on using once the day is done.
Reports on the disc is that it flies very similar to a beat-in Buzzz. We had 2 aces and a TON of metal hit at Crystal Lake. We hope to have very similar results at Bevier! Most of the holes will be shortened!
I be there..... ( 0 lifetime aces )
Actually decided i will be there with 1 friend of mine for the first round only. (gonna shoot over to fright fest after the ace race)
Event flyer attached... I know it's only a week away, but I figured I should post it anyway :)
Well, the nice part about my job is that I can come and go as I please and I can take virtually any day off. The downside is when they actually need me, I have to be there. And I was just informed I will be needed on Saturday. Bastards. I'll give Kyle the money for those pumpkin discs.
Scott,
I plan on attending.
That's awesome Brett! Will be happy to see you out there!
We have something like 97 player packs available, only 2 have officially pre-registered. Hopefully I'll be going home with very few player packs leftover!
The cool thing is that you're done in 3-4 hours if you play just one of the sessions. It won't take up your entire day!
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Ace Race!
We had 14 players for the morning round, and then 11 players for the afternoon round (3 of the 11 played in the morning as well).
From the morning round - we had a tie break for first with 1 metal each. Eric and Jim decided to split the prize pack. No aces. Eric's metal hit crashed dead center chains on hole 5D, but it unfortunately fell out! Jim hit the bottom pole of the basket on hole 6 for his metal hit.
From the afternoon round - we also had a tie break, but the tie was with 1 ace each! Jerome aced hole 6A (tee was moved up about 50 feet, to the right of one of the really big trees). Reports were that the disc nicked off a tree and still went in. Deryk also had an ace, acing hole 5 with a dead straight bullet toss. That tee was probably about 200 feet out. Jerome won the CTP throwoff, but Deryk and Jerome had decided ahead of time to partially split the winning trophy pack.
Thanks to Eric, Jim, and Matt for helping me out with unloading, setting up, registration, and loading everything back up!
One of the biggest comments that I received from this ace race is that it's tough when there's only one throw per hole. If I run another event like this next year I will DEFINITELY change the rule so that you get two throws per hole. If I run it at Bevier again I'll try to get the holes shortened up a little bit more.
NOTE: I still have 73 complete player packs available! They are $20 each, and you get 2 discs, a hat, super color mini, pencil, and sticker. I can ship them to you for a flat $5 or arrange pickup. I'll be at the next IOS on Sunday.
If you don't want the entire player pack, for a limited time I'll offer a price break:
Single Ace Race Disc - $10
Discraft Hat - $10
Super Color Mini - $2
Sticker/Pencil Combo - $1
Thanks!
I really liked the proto disc. Nice predictable flight and glide. Best glide I've ever had from a mid range disc.
The ace race had a really good value player pack especially if the proto gets approved and goes into production, but it was well worth it just for the hat and mini.
The Ace Race disc is now PDGA approved. The PDGA approved a disc called "Impact" on 10/26/07, and as far as I know this is the ace race disc. Discraft.com states on their home page in the ace race section that the disc is now PDGA approved.
So with that said: I still have a TON of these discs left! Weights range from 165 to max at 176g. As Jon says it has a ton of glide, and some others have compared it to a beat Buzzz.
The disc is in ESP plastic, and it is available for $10 each. I have red, orange, yellow, and white discs of various weights.
I also still have hats available - $13 each. Black, Khaki, and Burnt Orange colors available.
A combo pack of the supercolor mini, pencil, and sticker - $4
Or, you can still pick up the complete players pack for only $25. You get two discs, a hat, a super color mini, pencil, and sticker.
I have about 70 complete player packs available!
Nice! I can finally start using it again.
