JOLIET AREA WINTER DOUBLES LEAGUE
random draw partners, best shot format
winter 2007 to spring 2008
Registration from 10:45 to 11; teams are picked at 11 AM
Every Sunday morning
Entry Fee: $10 a person
Weekly optional contests: $1 ace pool (rules below)
$2 Prize and Awards Fund CTP (split 50/50)
$2 New Basket CTP (split 50/50)
Teams will be created each week within 2 separate player pools by random drawing of cards. Each card will have a hole # on it in either red or black. Your partner is the person with the same card in the same color.
Points will add up for the entire season, and will be earned each week based on participation as well as performance. Each player will earn points equal to their total cash paid including any fees for Weekly Optional Contests. Players will also earn points equal to half of their teams cash winnings, if their team ends in the top 1/3 of their division that week. Cash won from CTP and/ or ace pool do not count towards player points. There will also be 2 independant divisions to choose from for weekly competition and for awards at the end of the season. See below for rules regarding divisions.
The top 3 point earners in each division will be awarded trophies and prize packages in April of 2008. Date will be announced in March.
Updated point totals will be available each Sunday and will be posted at Channahon Community Park bulliten board each month.
Player divisions:
There will be 2 divions to choose from PRO/ADV and AM/REC. Teams will be created by random draw within the same division, in effect creating 2 separate skill-based leagues. Anyone with rating over 915 must play in PRO/ADV. Anyone with a rating 914 and below may choose which division they wish to play in. Points will only be awarded in the division they register for.
Ace Pool:
The 'ace pool' is an optional contest to be the next player to card a 'hole in one' during league play. Each week, if no player does this, the $ collected willl carry over to the next week. The first participant will collect the portion of the "ace pool" for which they have qualified (see below) with 2 exceptions as follows:
1) If the total amount of the pool grows to over $400 and there is only 1 participant to card an Ace on a given week, that player will win $400 only. The remaining will cary over to the next week.
2) In the event that more than 1 ace is carded in a given week, the current total amount will be split equally among those players. The above rule regarding the $400 cap holds true, but applies to each player individually.
Qualification:
In order to qualify to collect $ from the ace pool, a player who aces must have paid the ace pool entry fee for the day the ace was thrown. This fee is collected during sign up only. No ace pool entry fees will be accecpeted after teams are drawn.
The basic entry fee is $1 per week. For teh 1st and 2nd of the season ( or after an ace was recorded), this amount qualifies all participants to compete for the full amount of the ace pool. In the event that the ace pool rolls over to a 3rd week (or later), any participant who wishes to qualify to win the entire amount of the ace pool must have submitted the $1 fee for at least1/2 of teh weeks contributing to the total. Each week, the amount collected and the players contributing to the ace pool will be recorded in order to determine how much of the total amount any winner will qualify to win. Any player who has not invested to 1/2 of the previous weeks used to generate the current pot may still enter for $1. However, if a player in this category cards an ace, they will only win the total amount collected on the weeks in which they paid into the pool.
If there is any remaining $ in the ace pool after the last wek of the season, that amount will carry over to the first round ace pool on they day of the awards picnic in April of 2008.
