three catagories
1. less than 300'
2. 300' to 450'
3. out of reach off the tee
my picks
1. lockport #1 (long/red tee)
2. madison meadow #3 (blue tee)
3. Fairfield #18
1.Hole#3 @ Leo Leathers
1. Westchester #2 believe it or not. For a leftie this is a very tough shot, only birdied twice in 75-100+ times playing the course.
2. Oak Brook #6
3. Rockford East #7
1. Hole #2 at Shorewood (love that Mando!)
2. Hole #11 at West (creek to the left makes you think about your upshot)
3. Hole #9 at Channahon, Long Tee
Also, using partial Michler logic, any good hole is brought down if there aren't at least 17 others surrounding it :evil6:
Buffalo Grove Hole 6 because of the fast green.
From the courses that I play often enough to remember...
1. Mokena # 2 (Red/White tee - also my first ace)
2. Mokena # 18 (Blue tee, right around 450' if I remember right)
3. Edgebrook # 16
1. Hole 5 @ Sinnissippi. A classic par 3. Not sure if it's technically under 300 feet, but it's downhill and I throw a putter, so it counts.
2. Hole 7 @ Anna Page, East course, long placement. Great par 4. Need two good shots to reach the green. Creativity is often demanded (and rewarded) on the approach.
3. Hole 18 @ Longview Park, Rock Island. Solid finishing hole. Par 4, approximately 450 feet, straight uphill so it plays longer. The view of the river from the basket is top notch!
1. Campton #9
2. Eagle Ridge #4
3. Fairfield #18
It's all a matter of opinion, of course, but what makes Fairfield #18 one of the best holes? Other than a tricky downhill tee shot it's just long.
Then again, if you're just comparing it to other holes in N IL, then.... :P
Some of my favorites.
Hole #9 Mundelein
Hole #2 Adler
Hole #3 Gurnee
Hole #5 Gurnee
Hole #3 Grayslake
Hole #14 Round Lake
Hole #8A Waukegan
i believe that i would still like fairfield 18 even if it was 300 ft shorter, i think its a great hole because for the righty majority it requires a downhill distance throw with the fairway turning contrary to the natural hyzer, when the wind kicks up its even harder. I think for next year event we should put some OB rope down the middle of the rough on the left side so you cant just bailout with a shot to 12's fairway
thats how it was in previous Fairfield IOS years.
Hole #9 is by far the best hole in Lake County.
Hole #8 is a pretty darn good hole 2.
i'm assuming u mean Lake Villa hole 9 and hole 8
