There isn't a course on Forest Preserve property but there may be one with your help. There is a meeting tomorrow of the Land Preservation and Acquisition Committee and it is our understanding that this committee is less than enthusiastic about disc golf. And this committee meets tomorrow and disc golf is on the agenda. This meeting takes place at 8:30 AM at Independence Grove. Please attend this meeting if you can. Please bring someone with you if you can attend. For those of you who are unhappy with the disc golf courses in this area please attend. Your voice can make a difference, please try and find the time to make this meeting. If you can make the meeting please post here.
Thanks
I was checking out the Lake County Forest Preserve website yesterday to see if there was an anticipated date for the Round Lake hub to open. I saw they have a FaceBook page so I posted on it asking for a disc golf course. Facebook is a great tool. Please go to their facebook page and ask for a course. It can't hurt.

Not sure if it works unless you are logged in on their site. You can always do a search on FB for Lake County Forest Preserve. It was the first one that came up in my search.
Talking to my political connections yesterday, they informed me today that we would have a huge uphill battle in regards to a course on LCFP property. In other words.. We are a small group of people and they are afraid that the bigger half would disapprove of money spent on a course and could possible vote them out when elections come around.
That is the stuff that kills me. $50,000 would install a 5 star class facility. They install parking lots that cost more. That trail that runs thru Fairfiled will be lightly used. I'd like to know how much that cost to build. I bet that bridge over the creek cost more than a disc golf course would be to construct.
The LCFP is a double standard. They protect places so people can enjoy nature but yet can get it totally wrong with their ideas. Just look at the trail at Adler. The material they used makes the whole thing just one big pile of thick clay after a rainstorm.
*Update*
I've emailed the LCFP to find out what the final bid for the Fairfield trail expansion was. I'm hoping they will be able to tell me without mailing them a Freedom of Information Act form but who knows. However, from what I have gathered, the trail was piggybacked onto a bid to expand the Millennium Trail with their purchase of new land in 2010
If you are referring to the trail that will be going through the Round Lake Disc Golf site on Fairfield Rd, it is part of a much larger project and bids were let in June 2010. The lowest responsible bid was awarded to Midwest Golf Development in July 2010 in the amount of $1,327,000.00.

yes.
I posted a Christmas message on Facebook on the Lake County Forest Preserve page. Any support would be much appreciated.
I gave my 2 cents Brett. Merry Christmas Discontinuum!
Thanks guys for posting. If we keep the idea in their head maybe it will go thru on day. The last 2 times I've put pictures that show natural beaty to an area. I didn't give up on Fairfield and it's happening. I still think this project can happen but we need more disc golfers in their ear.
See if this works.

Jamie posted this on facebook.
I heard a small rumor that the forest preseve was finally at least considering putting in a championship caliber disc golf course? Any truth behind this?
_____
They replied it was just a rumor and this.
You may want to speak with your county commissioner. The county board also acts as the Lake County Forest Preserve board. You can locate your commissioner (search by address) and find contact information here: http://www.lakecountyil.gov/CountyBoard/Pages/Default.aspx
