Post by: SERG on November 09, 2007, 01:53:24 PM
Saturday Nov. 17th we are having a doubles tournament at the new 9-hole course at Parkside. Bring your own partner for three rounds of 9-holes. 1st round best shot, 2nd round alternate shot & 3rd round best score from each team.

Tournament is limited to 18 teams with Pro, Adv & Am divisions. Entry fee is $30 per team with 50% cash payout. The other 50% goes to the course for chain upgrades & tee signs.

Registration starts at 10am, first round starts at 11am. Course is located behind the Police Department. Park in the southeast corner of the main lot (opposite side of Wood Rd. from the original course).

If you have any questions you may email me at emiller17960@yahoo.com.

Yep it is still happening...  I will be cooking out over by the apartments, you can drink beer over here as well, over by hole #6.  Serg, Keiler and I did decide that that we were going to have this in spring with all the events going on, but others never understood what cancel means..

We will have another doubles event in the spring...  consider this one a practice event..  ::)

what kind of a turnout did you guys wind up having?  It was pretty tough for me in Waukegan because of the cold, wind, and light rain.

I wasn't at the event but was told there were 10 players (5 teams) that attended. Once Shawn or Dennis have a chance to take a look here I'm sure they may comment more.

We had 10 players..  free beer and brat were given out to all that braved the rainy cold day. Kuffel and I won and we just donated the money back to the course.  We played the nine hole course three times.

It was a fun day..  I enjoy playing in crappy conditions...  not sure were the heck all the golfers were for that day, they missed out on a good time.

Hope to see everyone in spring when we try it again.

Do you guys think it is the bring your partner format that scared people or the weather?
I would like to see a rotating random draw for every nine holes...  what do u think?
Or add one more hole and do match play..  this is a good course for match play.

I think a match play tourney would be fun. I have not had the opportunity to play a match play format.

I think it has to be the weather.

I second that.  Match play is one thing that doesn't happen very often (if at all) in disc golf. Off topic, but would kinda be fun to have a bag tag match play day, in the summer with more light, of course.

I, too, like the idea of match play. Start planning it Shawn.  ;D
