Looks like the Cold Turkey is going to happen again this year.Just noticed it on the PDGA tour page.
Saturday Nov.24 ;D
i really enjoy getiing to play a parkside, this should be a fun event again this year, ill hopefully play better too!
I think I'll be practicing the Worlds '08 courses that weekend with a bunch of female state, national and world champions. Not sure which courses, but probably Oshtemo and Coldbrook.
Kelsey threw a round that would rate 940 today at Holly. She beat me by three throws too.
What's the condition of Parkside right now? I know there are 9 new holes and that last i heard some of the old holes were going bye bye. Does anyone know what will be played at the tourney?
Parkside is the same as it's been. No changes are going to be made until sometime next year (probably late spring/early summer).
Yes, there is a new 9-hole course that is playabe. We're working on getting signage but right now there are flags and tall stakes showing where the tees are.
There may be some changes to the woods holes but not for a little while. We're discussing things currently. The main change will be the limiting of the size of the walking paths to a smaller width.
As for the event, I have no idea what Terry has in mind. There is no direct connection from the new nine to the current course.
Thanks for the update Serg. It's good to know they haven't ripped up the original course yet. That makes me happy.
Hey everyone!
I hope you guys come and play at Parkside for the "Cold Turkey II". It will be Saturday, November 24th. Just a few minutes ago I updated the online pre-registration page so you can register in three ways...
1) By mailing a check (14781 Hidden Creek Ct, New Berlin, WI 53151)
2) Online ($5 fee but there is a bonus twist this time)
3) Day of registration ($10 fee - I really would like you to pre-register)
This 'bonus twist' is something new I'm trying. If you sign up 5 people at once then there will be a $15 discount code you can use. That brings the $5 fee down to about $2 per person.
http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=114 (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=114) is the direct link to the page.
Also, I hope to work with Serg in the next few days and I'll try to get the likely pin placements posted. We will be playing just the regular 18 hole course (which means none of the new holes).
Thanks!
Ter

FYI: Course is in tournament positions.
All baskets are in the "A" placements except hole #3, which is in the "B" placement.
Here is the link to the course layout:

98 players last year. Get your money in now, you can save yourself $10 if you pre-reg.
I could be wrong, but I think it will be lightly attended this year. No "Get-your-points-for-Worlds" angle. And some players might actually remember last year's tournament.
I remember last year. I plan on attending.

Bruce,
I'm sorry my events aren't just like your events. I'm not offended that you are not attending my event this year. I don't make references about your events or come onto message boards and spew about how I don't like them so why do you feel the need to do it to me?
Please enlighten me as to how you think I'm such a horrible TD with the following math. I know you are referencing the payouts in the Rec division from last year's Cold Turkey (and other events) so I've pulled up my PDGA report and pulled the numbers from it.
Last year I charged $15 for the Rec division.
I took out $2 per person for the PDGA fee (as required)
I took out $1 per person for the insurance and course rental costs (even though $1 each wasn't enough)
I took out $10 per person for the merchandise voucher they received
I didn't take out for any other expenses including the not so impressive trophies
That means the total pool of money left in that field was $2 per person x the 22 people in it. That's $44 that had to get paid out to 11 spots. STRAIGHT OFF THE PDGA PAYOUT TABLE it read as the following:
$6
$6
$5
$5
$4
$4
$4
$3
$3
$2
$2
I added a couple of dollars here or there but I don't think that totaled more than $20 extra dollars. Unfortunately I know that's not much but it is still more than
100% payout when I only have to payout 85% at a C-Tier.
I know you think you are the greatest, smartest, TD of all time but if you really believe that is true then maybe you'll leave the rest of us mere mortals alone. I'm really sick (as many others are) of you bashing every other TD out there that doesn't do things the way you do.
I'm sure you will spin my numbers or tell me how I'm a money grubbing jerk or something of that nature now and that's fine. The fact is, I do work hard to run events and just because they aren't the same (allegedly genius) events that yours are doesn't mean they are bad.
I'm glad to finally say this in public because as I said before, I'm sick of you bashing me on boards in your condescending nature. You have done it here and on the PDGA discussion board. What do you want from me anyway?
PS -
Thank you to those that continue to support me and my events. It is truly appreciated.

Bruce, what is your point? How does a post like this benefit the disc golf community? Do you believe a post like this will help to bring more people to IOS events? Is is because you believe people are not bright enough to make up their own mind regarding attendance at events not run by you? At Scott's event, everyone I spoke with, who has the time, is planning on playing Terry's event. Same goes for the people that I spoke with at leagues on Sunday, they plan on coming out to play in Parkside this Saturday November 24.
Hey Terry:
Because of some family issues I won't know til maybe Friday if I can make this. When are you closing online reg? (assuming you're not full)
terry,
I wlill be attending your cold turkey event again this year. I had a blast last year it was my first sanctioned event i ever played. Keep up the good work and I cant wait to grip it and rip it at cold turkey this year.
Matt
Exactly the point, Tom . How does the bickering between 2 TDs benefit disc golf in Illinois and the surrounding areas. In today's world, the internet and alcohol seem to be cup of courage for some people. Face to face discussions relating to verbal attacks is far better way to handle the situation than letting the keys do the talking. I will attend Terry's and Bruce's events however if the bickering continues I could spend my money at other events. Consequently, I believe others will do the same and attend other tournaments. The bottom line is act like men with balls or act like men who wear diapers. :violent4:
I REMEMBER last years event and I WILL be attending, Terry does alot for disc golf and his reports are real fast too! haha
besides, based on my experiences he runs great events at good courses
I will leave it open until late Friday night. Normally I'm up pretty late the night before events anyway so I don't have a problem doing that. Maybe I'll even make a scorecard for ya and just tear it up if I don't see your reg come through :)
I hope all is well with your family and I also hope you can make it Damon. Take care!
Ter

Constructive criticism should be the key. You can please all of the people some of the time & some people all of the time, but not everyone all the time.
Plus, anything said online is akin to a crank call in my book. Don't mean shit.
Both of you keep doing what you're doing & I'll keep coming to the events I feel like going to, regardless of opinions another TD might have. I'm adult enough to form my own opinion, thank you very much.
That being said, I've got family coming in & won't be able to go to this. I wanna get another event in before the big freeze, but I think I'm S.O.L.
I'm jealous, wish I could have had as many positive responses about coming out :) Just takes time!
Remember to send that flame e-mail to Bruce at rollerdoos@aol-dot-com!
Pre-Registrations (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=7335) have been rolling in for the past few days. Just a day or two we had about 3 people signed up and now we have 22 people signed up.
Please get online and get signed up. I don't want to have to say, "I told you so" when it comes to Saturday morning and I turn people away. Please help out the event and everyone else that's attending and pre-register!
See you Saturday.
I had a great time today, even in the wind; and by Parkside standards it wasn't really all that windy.
Sergio tore it up, would've won Open if he'd played Open.
I'd have won Intermediate, if I'd played Intermediate. Although if I had, I probably wouldn't have.
But enough about me, let's talk about McManus, who won Advanced Masters in spite of his cheesy (pardon the expression) Packers outfit.
I think I might have actually broken the 900 barrier today, which isn't necessarily a good thing given next year's ratings breaks but has been a personal goal for far too long.
The stamped 'CFR' Destroyer is very cool - it's still out in my car, did Serg design that?
Thanks Terry and everybody up there for a smooth event.
Thanks, Terry, for another fun day. Thanks, too, for posting the results so quickly.
Congratulations Barrett, Sergio, and Tom on the wins. :hello2:
Yes, I did design the stamp.
Finally had a good round on my home course. Not sure where that first round came from but I'll take it ;D
My only other 1000+ rated round came at Parkside during IOS #1 in 2006. If only I was a little more consistent I would consider moving up sooner...until then, I'll play the division based on my budget!
Thanks to Terry and LDS for hosting another great event. For a day that didn't quite reach 40 degrees, 52 players is a pretty good turnout. Congrats to Barrett, Tom and Miguel for their wins in their respective divisions.
The Pro Destroyer was a great player pack. Everybody who had their name on the CTP marker received a prize. Everyone who actually had the CTP won a prize. Great new twist...you know we may expect new and exciting things now from all LDS events ;)
Thanks again.
