Attached is the info doc for Winter 2008 Doubles.
First week is 1/6/08!
Same as fall league, if you buy a bag of salt for use at doubles and it gets used the club will reimburse you for the salt. Please save your receipts if you want to be reimbursed!
Ace fund starts at $38!
Mirth,
I just found a 50lb bag of icemelt laying in the road . If I come I will bring it .
Hey Jed, didn't I put the ice melt in the pick 'em up truck last night?!? O0
Is there still a meeting after league this week?
I won't be there if there is one....
This is the first day of 2008 Discontinuum Winter League. I shoveled the concrete pads yesterday. The course has had no play since the last big snow storm. Come on out and get your points Enjoy the mild weather.
If your home from school get your butt out of bed and get out and play. Last year for each of the 10 weeks of winter league we had 22, 16, 14, 8, 11, 11, 5, 14, 17, and 14 players show up. Get your friends to get out and play.
There will be a bonus CTP today.
Scores are up for Week 1. 13 players. Congrats to Kenny and Nate for shooting a 16 down. All concrete tees today. Nice fog effect on hole number 7 with the melting snow. I forgot about the bonus CTP. I will have a bonus CTP next week.
Leagues this week, 13 players last week. Ace pool is at $51.00.
Its supposed to be real cold but hey, as they say, "no wimps, no whiners." I am really going to try to make it up. As cold as we will be I know McManus is going to be a lot colder sitting in the stands at Lambeau. Tom, are you gonna play anywhere up there earlier in the day? After defrosting, from League the only cold thing I plan to have during the game is the preverbial "cold one" or two.

Right now it doesn't look like I am going. The least expensive tickets we have been able to find are $500 each. I was willing to get close to that, but that is too much. I am hoping the prices come down a little bit towards the end of the week. And if I do go, I am not going to be playing anywhere on Sunday.
Contrary to the posted schedule, there will not be league on 1/27. Go play the Milwaukee ice bowl!
Winter league will just be pushed back by a week.
No club meeting next Sunday for the same reason. The meeting has been pushed back by a week also.
guess that will work since there's no reason to watch the super bowl on that following sunday anyway... maybe it will warm up a smidge too (hah)

I just realized that I can't make it next week or the two after that, so i'll miss the meeting
and first draw of bag tags. :'(
Tags will be distributed tomorrow lottery style.
Lottery #1-> League players prior to league.
Lottery #2-> Anyone in attendance at the club meeting that did not participate in league. FREE Pizza.
Lottery #3-> Anyone not in attendance of Lottery #1 & #2.
Tags will be mailed out next week. Thanks for your support!

Scores are up
Mirth,
Thanks for getting the scores up so quickly and thanks to Chris and Steve for shoveling the tee pads on the front 12.
Considering staying on the original side for tomorrow, mostly due to difficulty in clearing the rubber pads and lack of effectiveness of salt at tomorrow's forecast temps.
Unless the pads are already clear and there are no objections, holes tomorrow will be like this:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6a, 7, 8, 8a, 8b, 9, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Thoughts?
Its gonna be between 0 and 5. I am not sure I would be capable of thoughts. I would really like to get to league tomorrow and I have some free space on a Sunday but Yowza, its gonna be cold. I just don't know...just checked weather.com. At 10AM in Waukegan its supposed to be -5 with 26mph winds. I do know...you can play whatever holes you want Mirth. Post a picure of whoever shows up. You guys are heroes. Of course, there is a fine line between greatness and madness. If I am dieing to throw I will set up the Skillshot in the basement.
David - come on out, it'll be a good opportunity to catch up on points! ;)
If Waukegan sounds to cold for this morning, maybe there's another option. Since it's technically summer at this course, I wonder if they're having summer league doubles this course today:
McMurdo, ANTARCTICA
Varied terrain includes ice, snow, drifts, heavy equipment and high winds. From #5, hook a left and throw further up into yard (opposite road to Scott Base). #9 is near entrance to greenhouse.
But how do we get there?
From Christchurch New Zealand, hop on a military flight down to "The Ice" - McMurdo Station Antarctica.
Sounds easy enough. Who's up for it?

Summer at McMurdo is a lot like winter in Chicago. Weatherunderground is calling for a high of 5 F at McMurdo today with a low of -15.

Me and Jordan. It was cold. Shoveled the concretes. Chris was -1 and I was +5.
congratulations on the hard earned points today! i woke up at 10am, but even if i woke up in time I really don't think I had it in me to be out at Waukegan today. You and Chris are a little bit insane.

Welcome back Tom! I have your tag. It's #33.If I remember tomorrow i'll give it to Tom M. to deliver to you at league on Sunday.
Thanks :D
i plan on attending this week, so you might just want to stay home schimo! ;D
i also will need to purchase a new 08' bag tag.

Thats ok, I dont mind taking your money
Scores are up for last week and this week. Five players today with lots of rain to go with all the snow. Two rounds on the concrete. Justin and Chris took first with a -11. Come on out and join the fun. Every Sunday 10:00 AM at Bevier.
Was hoping to come and play today but the rain kept me away. Had strep throat last week that kept me home from work for two days. Hopefully be there next week.

Week 7 Scores are up.
9 players. Congrats to Brett with a minus -13.
Two rounds from the concrete tees. For the most part the tees were still clear of ice and snow.
Chris J. won the cash ctp.
Justin E. won the sweet Moose Jaw ctp. Thanks to Tenny Schimo for donating the sweet Moose Jaw package.
Ace pool starts at $99 next week.
Come on out. If you don't have a 2008 Bag Tag come on out, chances are one of the club officers will have tags available for purchase.
Come on out to play the course and get ready for the 2008 Discontinuum Club Challenge taking place on March 15.
We are already up to 63 club members and it isn't even March.
Looking at the weather for this Sunday and it looks like rain. Hopefully not as bad as two Sundays ago and maybe the $100.00 + ace fund will help bring out more people.
The forecast I saw this morning does mention it as a possibility but it seemed more favorable than yesterday. Hopefully it holds off until after we play.
Does anyone want to get out early with me on Sunday like 8:30ish to clear the tees on the west side of the course so we can play all 18 holes. Today I cleared the 12 tees on the east side of the course, there was a lot more snow than I was expecting due to drifting, it was heavy wet snow, it pretty much sucked balls.
I'll see you early tomorrow tom. Got salt?
yes i have salt
Okay. The wife's picking up a bag right now too, so we should be all set. I'll bring the shovel, ice scraper, and sled!
In other news, I've finally had the time to do the club's end of year merch inventory. Merch returns to doubles tomorrow.
Buy some stuff, get it out of my garage! =)
Week 8 Scores are posted.
Thanks to Tom S. for shoveling all the tees on the front 12. Thanks to Mirth and Tom S. for getting the back 6 tees.
Thanks to Tenny Schimo for another sweet Moose Jaw CTP.
Congrats to Scott K. and Tom M. for taking home the cash.
Scott K. $13.00 cash CTP.
Dan M. Sweet Moose Jaw CTP.
Two weeks remaining.
Ace pool stands at $113.
DON'T FORGET THE TIME CHANGE TONIGHT!!!!
Mirth, do you know if you are going to be there this Sunday?
Doubtful. Maybe, quite possibly not. Why?
OK, because if I need to run league I get there earlier than normal and I miss you :'(
and for those who have not been to league recently the ace pot is going to be over $120.00 this week. (thats this Sunday the 16th check in at 9:50am) dont miss out ^_^

No League this Sunday because of Easter
Ace fund starts at $122.00 first week of Spring Leauge which should be on 3/30/08 come on out!!!
Is there league this Sunday for sure?
I suppose I could look at the Leagues link but then I would have to venture away from the forum ;D
=) There IS league, Schimo will be running it as I'll be out of town.
