Twas the night before Christmas and all 'round Chi-town
The sports fans were grumpy, all wearing a frown.
The Bears after last year's great Super Bowl thrill
Look battered and beaten and over-the-hill.
The Bulls aren't much better, though many thought they
Might compete for the title next year in late May
One bright spot amidst all the snow and the ice
Is a young Blackhawks team that is playing quite nice.
But fans in Chicago don't like the word 'wait'
They want something NOW, as in 2008.
It's been a long decade since M.J. and crew
Brought home the last NBA title, 'tis true
For the Bears it's been longer, over twenty years ago
Since the Lombardi Trophy was all ours to show
The Blackhawks? Well, ask grandpa if he can recall
The last time Chicago, on ice, won it all.
And the Cubs, oh my goodness, we all know by now
Are cursed by some goat or chicken or cow.
What's that you are saying? I've forgotten one club
That hasn't, since disco died, been a big flub.
The team from the south side of the number three town
That played at Comiskey before it came down.
They won in '05, and that isn't so bad
A team from Chicago a championship had
I forgot and for that I am filled with much shame
Worse yet, I can't think of that Chicago team's name.
Now Grossman, now Hinrich, now Toews and Sweet Lou
Let's get it together! You know what to do.
For all of your fans make this holiday bright
By trying, just one time, to do something right.
