I highly encourage you to make the trip to Springfield on Saturday October 4, 2008 for the Capital City Challeng for the double weekend. http://www.discgolfclub.org
i expect this years will be another fine event, enjoyable courses and well run!
Definetly plan on making it to your event this year Brett
I did some updating to the initial post.
This will be a fun event along with the Capitol City Challenge. Two great events back to back.
Brett I will be there and I am bringing some guys from the WIU Disc Golf Club.
Maybe we can get a college vs. college side-bet going.
been thinking about this one, might check it out. got the river city rumbles the following weekend, then the last IOS after that, then halloween havoc doubles in rockford the week after that. busy time of year.
got registered with Brett at IOS #5. Thanks again Brett.
Will be at Springfield the day before as well.
I plan on updating the PDGA Tour page in the next couple of days.
Online registration should be rolling by the end of the week as well.
I'm torn... There's a tourney (first sanctioned event) back on my home course in Michigan this same weekend but man am I tired of driving. Think I'm leaning more toward IL than back to back trips to Michigan. New courses are always fun. October is a very busy disc golf month in the midwest. I'm also thinking of heading down to Bowling Green for the Nats Halloween event (heard they pay out in Nats bucks instead of plastic only funny money) Nats is a Sporting Goods Store. Will be good practice for BG09 at the least. Then the following weekend (if I can swing it) is Vegas Halloween event 3 days; one round a day & plenty of time for poker!
I played in this event last year and am kinda sad that I'm going to be the vendor and not able to play again! I had my best rated round ever at Maxwell including the closest I've ever come to an ace. But anyway...
My plans are to play the Capital City Challenge in Springfield on Saturday (just signed up for it today), and then I'm going to travel the hour north for Bloomington/Normal the following day.
Not that I can compare to a sporting goods store (and I know that's on a different weekend), but at the Bloomington/Normal event you'll find more than just plastic. Yeah it's almost all disc golf related, but I'll have bags, chairs, stools, a decent amount of apparel, disc golf dvd's, and some other random things in addition to discs. I've been asking around for ideas on stuff that I could add to my stock, but I haven't had much luck in the fresh ideas department!
I've heard players request those Innova socks like I've seen Des Reading and Dave Feldberg wear.

honestly I haven't heard about any Innova socks that I could order - or else I would definitely stock it!
I will buy a buch of those socks if you can get them. They are black and have a basket on the back part of the sock.
i would also like some of the socks if you can get them.
Im in for this one....
Maybe some disc Visors? I could care less what company (Actually I'd preffer a Gateway) :) I'm just not a huge hat guy anymore (wierd since I think I wore a baseball hat pretty much everyday of my life until I started working in an office)

I'm pretty sure those are available only to team members at this time. I was making fun of Yeti when he was wearing them at Worlds. He said Harold really likes them, though.
Attached is the trophy picture my dad has been working on. It's pretty much completed accept Irvin will be spelled with an I rather than an E.
nice pic brett.
bloomington is the next stop on my disc tour. i got a tourny every weekend in oct.
scott a nice thing to add to the inventory(unless you already have them) would be those little pillow like things for your hands that have sawdust, dirt, or whatever it is inside them. i seen a few people use them in the rain in oswego to help with gripping the disc.

Thanks! My dad does pretty good work and photography is a hobby of his.
Awesome! If you get a chance to make it to Springfield on Saturday i'd suggest doing so as well. 2 good courses there too.
They are birdie bags.
I'd love to start carrying birdie bags - but I need to find out how to order from the guy. If someone has an email or website please PM it to me. I'm pretty sure there is info with the birdie bag packaging, but I couldn't find mine.

It seems like there have been problems with supply before but contact Bruce and he can let you know. But unless I'm thinking of something else it was like Bruce would call him up and could get them at wholesale price one time by buying 20 of them and then the next time the guy wanted him to buy 200 to get that price.

The PDGA site is down so I have not been able to update entries today. There are just over 30 registered so far with a bunch of people saying they are going to pay me at Springfield.
I will be making the trophies on Wednesday. Currently I have Open, Advanced, Intermediate, Recreational, and Recreational Women ready to go. If you plan to play in a division that is not listed please register ASAP so your division will have a trophy.
There is still a room avaliable in Springfield for a 4'some that registers together. Contact the TD for more details.
Registrations are steadily coming in. Terry plans on having online registration open until late afternoon on Saturday.

I have been getting bombarded with e-mails and calls the past 2 days.

Results are posted. Ratings are jacked but I gotta get to bed. I'll try to correct them Monday night during the football game.

i was just checking the results, and wasnt the round at maxwell a par 60 since it had 20 holes? i had finished -2 on that course and it has me +4. just wondering
Maybe there were a handful of holes that were par 2. :-)

Ratings & par info are not accurate. I tried to fix that this morning but the PDGA site is still having some issues. I cannot edit the course layout info right now. I'll try again tonight.
thanks brett. a great tournament also, ran so smooth
Brett,
Thanks again for putting in the time to set up another fun tournament for us to play. It was definately a good time.
Congats to Dave and Lon for their 1st place tie. Nice come back DD!
The par information and ratings should be fixed.

Finally caught up after the weekend.
I want to thank Tom McManus and Scott Pitner (www.paperorplasticsports.com) for all their help. Rob Strasser and his wife were a big help as well. Thanks guys!
I also want to thank Ben Douglas, Rob Strasser, and Dan Nagle for getting the pins moved and courses ready. Ben and Dave Owens got the temp baskets out on the course. Thanks to Dave for bringing in the rubber tee pads.
Dana Vicich donated several CTP's and had a bunch of stuff from the USDGC he gave away in the ring of fire. Thanks Dana!
Preregistration only seemed to work and I plan on doing it for all of my events. Thanks to Terry Miller for handling that.

Thanks Brett for another smooth tournament. Thanks also to Tom, Scott, Rob, Mrs. Rob, etc. etc.
I had a long drive home so I didn't hang around til the bitter end, but it was (again) definitely worth the trip.

Brett, are you running this tournament again this year? If so, any dates in mind yet? Thanks
Doug,
Thanks for asking. I am not running it this year. Several BN players said they wanted to run it this year.
Had I run a tournament in BN this year I had planned on doing something early in the spring. I think Central Illinois could capitalize on the weather while it's still pretty cold on the Northern part of the state. There is little going on early in the spring while the fall seems to become more active every year.
It is the going to be the first weekend in October as always. Capitol City Challenge will be one day and BN Open will be the other day. October 3rd will be the CCC and the BN Open is October 4th.
A new course is in the making in Bloomington so that may be used as well!
okay Thanks. Yea I heard Rob Strausser is putting it together. Should be nice and LONGGGGGG! I think they played it at last weeks league. Maybe just 9, not 100% sure.
