The Sipolt Memorial Disc Golf Tournament will be on Saturday April 5, 2008. It will be held on the Sipolt memorial disc golf course at Western Illinois University. The field is limited to 50 players because it is a 9 hole course. The tournament will be hosted by the WIU disc golf club. I will post more information as soon as I know it. Our sponsor is very generous and made it possible to hold the event.
The order is going in to Discraft to get discs. We are going to have the surge, buzz, and challenger. we will also have tee shirts. Our sponsor sent the money to the Alumni foundation and they will be picking up the tab.
The tournament will be only $10 per person and limited to the first 50 poeple to register. The money earned will go to the Western Illinois Disc Golf Club so we travel to tournaments.

yea yea
Hmm, I'll have to see if I can make it out for this :) My mom's birthday is the next day, so I don't know when we'll do the birthday celebration. But I'll be sure to contact you to pre-register if I can attend!
so with just playing 27 holes, I can see things going fast - so the late start is nice. I looked it up and I'm 4 hours out from Macomb, ouch! I forgot how far out there it was. Any predictions as to when things will wrap up (including time allowed for extra stuff)? The late start is nice, but still makes me arrive home pretty late. Maybe I'll send my brother - he would just be traveling from UofI (champaign).
It doesnt take long to play nine holes but there wil be a lot of poeple on the course. I am thinking that there will be 5 poeple per hole. I am only letting 50 poeple play in the tournament. Lots of these people will be college students that only have a couple discs. I plan to have everyone pre-registered for the event to save time. I cant see each round of nine lasting more than an hour so I would say it will be finished by four or five at the very latest. Things will go fast because it is a short simple course and most poeple will be familiar with the couse routing. I plan to have a CTP on every hole.
The school is sending out an announcement to every student, faculty member and alumni. There will also be a display at the rec center promoting the tournament as wells as flyers posted around the school. This event will fill up fast. I will be accepting pre registrations on march 29.
If you are planning on traveling from far just let me know that you are coming and I will hold your players pack to the side for you and you can pay the day of the event.
The shirts and trophies are here and the discs will be in by friday. Pre-registration has started and there are allready 10 poeple registered. There are 40 spots left as of Tuesday.
What divisions are you offering?
There will be only one division. The division includes men, women, childern, pros and ams. Today every student, faculity and alumni at WIU recieved an e-mail about the tournament.
The discs came in today. There are 10 poeple pre-registered.
If you are thinking about playing this tournament let me know ASAP. The are 40 people pre-registered as of today. That leaves onlt 10 more spots open. This tournament will be filled by the end of the week.

Nice work Kenny!
Next year you should do 2 sessions to allow for more players.
There are 4 spots left, I am letting it go to 54 poeple so there will be 6 poeple on each hole.
The weather was warm and sunny for the tournament. When I got out to the course in the morning Brock Dowell (Jr. form Iowa) hit an Ace on hole one warming up. There was a full field of about 50 poeple. Adams street was a huge party all day with college students dinking and playing loud music. Gave the tournament kind of a college party atmosphere. The music was heard around the course.
There were lots of people taking pictures and a friend of mine filming to put a segment on the WIU news and put a movie of the tourney online. I will give more info on that as it comes, he does really good work so it will be exciting.
One of the highlights of the tournament was a streaker that ran across the course by hole two and across Adams street being chased by the cops. The guy was butt naked runing cirlcles around the cops. There was about 250 college students cheering this guy on as he maintained a good 20 feet on the cops. After about 5 minutes he surendered on Adams street in front of the four squad cars. seemed like the whole campus was cheering this guy on as he got tossed into the back of the cop car.
The top ten scores for thre day:
John Manuell -8
David Traxler -5
Scott Paric -4
Kenny Glassman -4
Kyle Mayborn -4
Nick Rampson -4
Hamilton Miller -3
Steve Bennett -2
Bill Dowell -2
Kyle Parik -1

I showed this post to a couple of guys who recently went to Western to see if they knew the Profs. One of the guys knows a bunch of guys who still go to school there and he said that when they put the naked guy in the back of the cop car that the guy took a dump in the car. They charged him with a felony, not sure of the specific charge, but the guy said I always wanted to take a dump in a police car.
There are a lot of things I want to do in life, but taking a dump in a squad car wouldn't make the top 100,000.
The word is that the streaker is not even a WIU student. The guy filming the tournament get some footage of the streaker and the cops tossing him in the car. He was trying to get an interview but could not get in touch with him since he doesn't go to WIU.
The scores from the tournament made it to the Western Courier. They were in the paper on Wednesday.
hey kenny, you left me out...
i placed 10th with a -2
Kenny,
