Title: 2008 ILLINOIS OPEN SERIES POINTS
Post by: CEValkyrie on March 18, 2008, 02:49:15 PM
Points documents will be attached to this thread after every event.
You must register a user name and login to view attachments.

Attached is IOS Points after #5

SERIES POINTS
This series is set up for fun and competition. Overall champions win a trophy and bragging rights. If you play any day of the 2008 Illinois Open Series you are automatically entered into the series. It costs no extra fee to enter the series. There will be no deductions from tournament payouts to pay for overall series champion trophies.

Points only count in the division in which they are earned. For example, if Bruce plays Advanced at the first event and receives 12 points then plays advanced masters at the next event and earns 12 points, he does not have a total of 24 points. He would have 12 points in advanced and 12 points in advanced masters.

Participants will be awarded one point for each tournament entered and one point for each player they beat in their division.

A player who DNFs (Does Not Finish), will receive 0 (zero) points for that tournament.

Overall points will be calculated from best 4 of 6 events.
IOS #5 @ ROCKFORD, IL is worth DOUBLE points.

Any ties for first place at the end of the series will result in a sudden death playoff at the Fairfield Fairwell. A player who is tied for first but is not present automatically loses the playoff.

What are your rules on players who develop (ratings wise) beyond their current division mid series?  My reason for asking is that I fully expect to go over 900 at the next update prior to IOS #6 (barring total meltdown of my game.)  My goal was to play rec & finish "on the podium" 1/2/3 at series end.
Title: Re: 2008 ILLINOIS OPEN SERIES POINTS
Post by: pickax on June 26, 2008, 12:29:21 PM
The IOS does not have a "you can stay in your division" series rule. If your rating pushes you up, you can no longer play in the lower division. Jesse, you have two more IOS tourneys before the 9/9 update. Get your series points while you can. Btw I believe Rockford will be double points.

it's also best 4 out of 6, correct?  So just make a strong showing at the next two events, and instead of 2 scores dropped like everyone else that plays all 6 in the same division, you'll just have 1 dropped.

You can also pay me $50 to "lose" the TD report for a while, but someone might pay me more to find it...it's a gamble!  >:D

Currently in sixth place I will pay you to loose just the top five peoples scores!!! :evil4:

Just Kidding :P

Jesse is you keep playing the way you are and there is no reason you shouldn't be in the top three! Also Eric Bassett is now in Intermediate so you are going to be in first if you play the next tournament and not suck horribly. You are 13 points ahead of the next person below you. I think you have a great chance of winning the series if you play as good as you have been in the first three. Yes there is a lot of Disc Golf left but I think you are in the driver's seat for now. Just don't crash!!!

Cool, I just needed clarification. I'll just play up in IOS 6 as I want to be there for series awards anyway.  I'll do my best to win out at 4 & 5 :)

The first two events may become irrelivant (sp?) if the rec turnout stays as strong as it was in IOS 3. At any rate I plan on bringing my A game for the rest of the series.

Is that correct? That will make me feel a lot better after missing #3 due to my arm. I can't even throw a disc or play any sports until IOS #4 weekend said the doctor yesterday. :(

well crud, I might not be able to go for a top five spot in novice after all - I blew out my knee playing wiffle ball on Friday.  The office where I'm at plays pretty competitively, 8 total teams - I heard something pop as I rounded 1st... there's a good chance that I tore my ACL this time.  I don't know what recovery time is from surgery, but I may not be playing for quite a while :(

on a side note however, I'm going to make every effort to still make all tournaments happen this year.  I'm just going to count even more on helpers to help me get stuff unloaded and loaded again.

look at the tabs at the bottom and pick - i think it was call standings.  Then you'll see + symbols on the left side that you need to click and expand the respective group.  All of the groups are collapsed in that file currently.

woohoo i'm in 3rd - it helped that just about everybody up top moved up out of novice! lol

It's not too difficult, & I started doing that but didn't get a chance to finish.  I'll get it done this week or next and post it.

Will we be getting an IOS Season Points Update soon?  Kiralyn and I are heavily plotting how she's going to win the Junior Girl Obelisk.  If the Fraziers go to Alabama we're going to have some catching up to do.

As of my discussion with Sandra at Kimball Pines at Worlds, the Frazers weren't going to AL.

ok I need like 30 novice players to sign up for Round Lake AND I need to win so that I can catch Dave O... yeah... don't think that's going to happen!  Now I just have to keep Tony away!

Those double points at Rockford really helped out a lot of people.  Thanks for getting this together quickly :)

I don't like to be nit-picky, and it isnt a big deal, but on the standings.xls file, there is an error. :-\  :o

In the attendance tab....under the totals column....for 2007....it says 1305   :-[ ...it should say 1013

It looks like the error comes in, because the Saturday 2007 total should be 536 and Sunday should be 497.

The numbers are a little odd of 2006 and 2005 also....they don't add up.

I corrected the 2007 totals, thanks for catching that.  It will be right on the final update.

The numbers for the previous years don't add up because I left in the totals for seven events instead of six.

So I'm doing machine cut dyed lettering on series points discs for our modest series overall awards.  I'm dying the letters instead of dying around the letters, so the ones that come out well will look really cool.  See www.brasscash.com for who is eligible for series points discs.

For the Intermediates and up the series points discs are these really nice milky white Z Buzzzes.  I have one from the last time I ran [and won!] the Sturgeon and it is a really straight flyer if you throw it with a flat release.  For most of the Recs, Novices, Juniors and Women the overall discs are Z XLs.

Jon did the colormax artwork for these, similar to last year's artwork.  Suzanne of More Than Signs set up and cut the stickers and only made two mistakes.  She grossly undercharges for her services so we won't point out the mistakes.

It takes about 15 minutes per disc to remove and weed the mask, apply it, debubble it and get it all ready for dye.  It would go a little faster if I was not saving the letters to do something useful with the unused part.  I'm making 23 of these so that's how much I care.  Seven hours of weeding, applying, debubbling, dying, rinsing, and peeling.

Kiralyn and I rinsed off the Series Points discs today.  They look really nice.  They make the tournament trophy discs look like crap!   ;D  I cannot really do this with colormax on ESP or Star plastic but it is pretty easily done with Z, and these are all Z.

I just got the Innova today.  I don't know if I'll have time to set aside Bosses and other special Innova orders.  Saturday almost never fills.  Fairfield almost never fills.  If you want a Boss or an Innova hoodie or whatever, show up on Saturday.  You can play for $15 or $20, trophy-only, 1/2-in.  Check out your options at brasscash.com.

I can't speak for Bruce, but to give you an idea - I ordered my 50 limit and received 2 @ 172, about 15-18 @ 173, 1 @ 174, and the rest at 175. (most of mine are already sold)

The Bosses will be 20 Brass or 20 cash.  Sorry, but something has to be expensive.  I did not get any free stuff from innova this time to bring down the price of anything.  Everyone who asked for lay aways I'll bag and hold.
