Brett,
Brilliant my friend. You being a gym teacher and and all around great guy, I can't think of a person that would be better suited to give lessons than yourself.
You are a true testament to the fact that some legitimate learning, solid practice, and hard work all pay off. Watching your skillsets and player rating climb in a consistent fashion speaks volumes about your play, your work ethic, and approach to the game.
I have been giving lessons around here for a few years and it's great to see someone truly 'get it' when they make that long putt or when they throw 5 drives to within 15 feet. I wish you the best of luck and I highly recommend you to anyone in your area looking for lessons. Heck, if you keep beating me then maybe I'll have to come and pay for some myself. Good luck!

I had the opportunity to take a private lesson with Brett yesterday and am very pleased with the experience. I chose the "full round" option and can assure you that the value far exceeds the cost. Brett's coaching and teaching skills are evident as he identifies and encourages the positive aspects of your game while tweaking the not-so-positive aspects in a manner that is easy to understand and implement. I left the lesson armed with a better understanding of the way I throw, techniques to improve my throw, and methods to practice and reinforce those skills. Brett then followed up via private message with his analysis of the video he shot at the end of the lesson. Again his comments were both encouraging and productive.
One of the benefits of actually purchasing a lesson is that the instructor becomes totally focused on you for the duration, and you feel you have the right to demand that attention. Gone is the feeling that you might be imposing on the far better player. This was a great experience that I highly recommend, and will be taking advantage of again.
Nice work, Brett. Thats pretty cool that you do some video taping.
I REALLY need to get out and get some video of myself playing. I think that would help a TON
Keep up the good work!
I am so happy to see you do this. Your growth as a player combined with your teaching/coaching skills will help anyone who chooses to do this with you. Video is great tool. Anyone who wants to improve their game should have someone video and analyze their technique.
Like Kurt, I had the chance to have a lesson with Brett on Sunday afternoon. The weather was cool and wet but the course conditions at Bevier are mostly playable. The only major annoyance was the mud on 10 and 11 across the road.
I did the $20 round option and it was an awesome chance to get some in depth technique instruction. The fact that Brett is a teacher/coach when he isn't playing disc golf is quite obvious. The combination of his skills as a player and his ability to see possible areas of improvement in one's game just made for a great experience and I will definitely be asking him for another lesson in the near future.
Even after we had already played 36+ holes of disc golf on Sunday morning/afternoon I couldn't wait to keep practicing and trying the techniques he showed me. So after a 1.5 hour drive home from Waukegan (I live in Wheaton), I got out to Lombard to play a few more holes in the rain. Everyone better watch out. I will be tearing up the AM 3/4 IOS divisions pretty soon. :-P
Oh, and Kurt...I thought that after the first round when I played with you at Channahon you wouldn't have needed any lessons. I guess the second round really didn't go so well, huh? Of course, I shot a combined 20 or so over...so I think I should be needing lessons every week for the next few months.
Thanks for the kind words guys!
Also,
Kurt, you need to change your user name to can putt.
Here are some of my favorite videos. You can learn a lot from these.

I haven't had a lesson from Brett but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one once my back heals. Brett got good at this sport in a fashion that should be emulated by anyone that wants to improve at this sport. That is by consistently practicing great disc golf technique. Brett's coaching and teaching experience combined with his great disc golf mechanics make him uniquely skilled to teach disc golf to anyone that wants to learn how to improve their game.
I wanted to add another unsollcited testimonial. I took the full-round option with Brett today and it would have been a bargain at twice the price. I've known for a long time that there was 'something wrong' with my throws but Brett was able to quickly break down the different aspects of my delivery and lay out a clear plan on how to correct them. It'll take a lot of work to break old habits but I could tell the difference immediately when I was able to get off a 'proper' drive (even with that wind). When it worked I was already hitting my 'usual' distance with half the effort. The post-lesson video analysis is an added bonus. Plus he's always a great guy to hang out and play a round with.
Anyone who's not beating Brett on a regular basis 8) could benefit from working with him. Get in now before he raises his prices...
Excellent putting video.

Thank Brett!
Just the video I've been needing. ;D
I'm on it. I needed some direction for my putting practice. Those D-craft videos are pretty good.
Brett, Are you offering lessons again this year?
i would gladly pay for both kev c and myself this year at some point
I have quite a bit more time right now if anyone is interested in a lesson.
Here is another nice putting video.

hey thats me at :07 sweet
great to see Scott Papa still into this. He was our touring buddy along with Scott & Tim Martin back in 1996-97-98. Great guy and probably a great teacher? haven't seen him since 1999, will be great to see him at Worlds this year.
GREAT JOB to you as well Brett. Always nice to see the State Coordinator as good as a golfer as he is a mentor. Keep up the great job!!

very cool to play several rounds with a guy on a video!!! ;D
What was you doing? Showing them how you throw your Tomahawk/Thumber?
Stan let me barrow the Flying Disc-- Disc Golf Fundamentals with Ken Climo and David Feldberg. I am very impressed with this video and picked up a few new tips. If you are a beginning player this is a must see DVD.
The only addition I would have like to seen is more footage of these guys playing.
I spent about 15 minutes with Joel a few weeks ago.
Hey Brett, I just wanted to say thanks for the tips the other day at leo leathers.
Yesterday I played my best game ever down in buffalo grove, and your help was a big
part of that.
Thanks again man,
Joel
My brother went out and did the "play a round" option at Round Lake with Brett - he feels it was money well spent! Thanks Brett for helping give my brother some tips and tricks - just what I need *sigh*... he's already a lot better than me... lol.
I would also like echo the praise that is going around for Brett's lessons. I played a round with him yesterday at Adler, and for anyone who is on the fence, it is definitely worth it. Not only does he do a fantastic job supporting the positive aspects of your game while helping you improve the negative ones, but in general he is a wealth of knowledge about disc golf and a great guy overall. Thanks again Brett!
living in Pekin, it's hard to go play a round with Brett to get any lessons, but knowing his rating seems to keep going up, and he is usually at the top of leaderboards. I chose to PM him with questions about adding distance to my drives. He explained in detail what I should TRY and my gosh did it ever help. He added probably 40-50' to my drives :o. Needed some advice to try to compete with all his local players that seem to give me fits at tournys. With all his advice thru our 15 mins of PM's one evening, he helped me beat ALL of them at the IOS#3 by taking 3rd place. Giving me a HUGE boost of confidence heading to the K.C. Worlds in 2 weeks.
$10.00 well spent. He got paid yesterday in between rounds. Thanks a bunch Brett. Keep up the great work, and play!!!!

I think I saw you pay Brett...I had no idea what was going on but it was kinda funny.
Just took a lesson at Fairfield with Brett, it was definitely worth it. I learned a lot from him on just one round through. Thanks for all the help Brett. The next round I played felt pretty good.
I have started giving lessons again this year now. If you are interested send me an e-mail or private message.
