skipache is steppin up! :)
Nice.
I hope Open will be playing on Saturday.
According to the PDGA, Jason Rose is the TD, but Tom Matesevac is an equal partner in making this a reality....
Matt Coyne has been the biggest supporter to date.
Dana, the guys decided that this is going to be a pro's event that uses Channahon, Highland park and lockport...
when i hear more super secret details i will let you all know...
I love playing the Channahon course but I will be in Huntsville, AL for the USWDGC. Have fun!! I know I will :)

so you're not doing any am divisions?
there will be no amatuer divisions for the Joliet Pro Championships
it might be worth your while to split the October talks off to another thread so that people don't get it confused with a possible September Channahon classic with AM divisions available.
Well, it is official. The Channahon Classic will be happening on the dates listed above. I have decided, with Garys blessing, to take over the event this year, and maybe longer. This will be my first time stepping into the TD role, so hopefully this will go as smoothly as possible. Watch for the flyer to be posted here within the next 2 weeks. In the meantime, I can tell you that many of the features will be the same as a Gary Lewis event since those were the events I always played. More to come soon!
If anyone is interested in sponsoring this event in the form of CTP's, Cash, or anything else, please contact me via e-mail at jason_e_mckinney@yahoo.com so that we can work out the details. I am still working on the Sanctioning Agreement and would like to make this a B Tier, but that will depend on sponsorship. Thanks again!

Tom,
I submitted the TD report a few weeks ago. Pro/Adv was supposed to be listed on Sunday. It was incorrect. In the meantime Jason has stepped up. I decided to let it go since it's going to get updated anyway. I'm sure once the PDGA gets the sanctioning agreement from Jason it will be corrected.
It's great to see the event continue. With all the work Frank does on the course Channahon and Frank deserve a warm weather event. Thank you Jason for helping sanction disc golf events in Illinois.
So pro's are not playing Saturday?
Dammit Tom, I don't like these Sunday tournaments.
PDGA.com still has pro/adv listed as playing Sat.
(Not that I mind)
Dana,
We are having issues with the dates for the event. I will post more information when I have it. Apparently there is a Cross Country meet in Channahon that Saturday. We are monitoring our options. We could possibly do back to back weeks on Sundays, move it to a different course, or even do everybody on the same day. I will post here when I know.
Jason
Thanks for the heads up. And I appreciate you running a tournament.
If I can do anything to help, let me know.
Any new news on the date?
PDGA.com still has PRO/ADV playing Saturday.... any word on the new date, or is it staying the same? I'm just tryin to get my work/disc golf schedule figured out
rumor was at west park that it's going to be the 21st and 28th, but I don't know what divisions would play which sunday. Jason was busy shooting at 17 down and a 12 down on Sunday - didn't want to bug him about it ;)
Guys (and Gals),
Here is the Flyer for the tournament. It will be consecutive Sundays (09/21 and 09/28) and will be a C Tier. I didn't have enough time to get sponsors together to make it higher (Maybe next year). Still working on everything else, but let me know if there are any questions. Thanks!
Jason
Edit: Added updated flyer
Better inform the PDGA about the dates. They have Pro/Adv on Sat the 20th and amateurs on Sunday the 21st
http://pdga.com/schedule/index.php?startMonth=9&startYear=2008 (http://pdga.com/schedule/index.php?startMonth=9&startYear=2008)
I am awaiting word from them on a few different things for the sanctioning agreement. It will be updated after Worlds I am sure. Thanks!
Jason
Got it. Thanks!
I heard the course was under some water. Any info on if this week's tourney is still going to be held?
The course is currently under water. The park is closed at the molment, and they are not sure of the status for this weekend. An event will happen this weekend for sure. If the course is closed, we will likely move to West Park. I will update everyone when I have word.
Jason
Thanks for the update.
wat kind of shape is West Park in?

wat kind of shape is West Park in?
I have been told by Gary Lewis and others that West Park appears to be in good shape. If the event is moved, we anticipate it only being for the one weekend. I heard today that the water level at Channahon has already gone down a foot since yesterday. This is a good sign, and with the forecast looking good for the next few days, I have my fingers crossed that we will be ok. Thanks for the interest!
Jason
Everyone,
I just received notice from the Park District that the Park will remain closed throughout this weekend. They hope to have it ready for next weekend for the Open/Adv tournament. The tournament will go on, however, it will be moved to Shorewood Park. I have decided that this is the best course for this event. Shorewood is a nice little course, and it has not hosted an event in several years. If everyone can please spread the word on this I would appreciate it. I hope to see everyone out there this Sunday, as it is expected to be a beautiful day!
Jason
Edit: Preregistration is now available on Jolietdiscgolf.com for the 2nd weekend of the event.
Well that sucks. I was going if it was at West Park.
make it a 3 disc challange
you really only need mid ranges on shorewood
great course
learned how to throw side arm at shorewood
or so i think
have fun

Sorry you feel that way Dan. It is my personal opinion that Shorewood is a tougher course than West Park. It tests much more of your game and makes you play a much more controlled round. Also, there was already an event at West Park this year, which also swung the vote a little bit. I hope to see everyone out there, for a very challening event. I can also promise everyone will get home nice and early, as Shorewood plays pretty quick.
Jason
will Pro/ Advanced play Channhon next weekend?
There is still a TON of water at Channahon. I don't have an answer for next weekend yet. You will all know as soon as I do.
All of todays results have been posted! Let me know if there are any issues.
Jason
Thanks again Jason! And congrats to Kurt for his first place finish in intermediate. Nice shooting.
Thanks, Randy.
And thank you Jason, for keeping the Channahon Classic alive. Very smoothly run. Great work finding a replacement park district on such short notice.
I know the unofficial ratings come from the spreadsheet, but something seems odd. A 20 point spread 1st to 2nd round seems too high. Conditions were the same, IMO.
Kurt,
I agree with you completely. I also don't think that the 45 shot by the Junior winner in the second round was only a 960 round. Hopefully when the full TD Report is sent in next week, all of that data will be corrected. Thanks again to everyone that came out, and congrats to all of the winners!
Jason
The unofficial ratings are typical for a tournament with only players under 900. In the second round, many players learn from their mistakes and save themselves a couple of strokes. If there are enough quick learners, the second round ratings will appear to be depressed. For official ratings, they will combine the two rounds and the ratings will be somewhere between the first and second round curves.
All,
I have just received word from the Park District that the Park will be open this weekend! We will be having the tournament in Channahon as I had hoped. However, this may only be the regular 18 holes. At this point, some of the areas for the alternate holes are in bad shape and will not be playable. I will go to the park and see if anything else can be layed out, but I can't make any guarantees. I hope to see everyone out there this weekend, as the forecast looks perfect. Thanks!
Jason
Great news, thanks Jason!
Went out to play Channy today, Frank was out there installing new baskets, hole 1, 2, 5, and 7 had new baskets installed, no basket on 8 so I'm assuming that hole is getting one too.. Course was a little wet but not any water where there isn't normally, very playable. Insane amount of mosquito's but other than that it's ready for this weekend IMO.. :)
Jason McKinney, along with all his helpers did an outstanding job this weekend and last weekend. We were our of there in record time today. Everything ran smooth. It was a great event. I really like the new alternates that they used. Overall an A+ job by Jason running these events.
I got a chance to play the first round with Frank Grimes today. He has done an amazing amount of work on this course. It was in great shape.
Great job! Thank you.
Some great wotk on elevated baskets, retaining walls and very nice tees. Man were those mosquitoes brutal!
Jason & crew did an awesome job today! Thank you!
Frank has done an awesome job with Channahon as usual. Every year I show up at Channahon he has something new. Thanks Frank!
Many new baskets.
Hole #2 moved across the creek.
All the long tee pads now have cement tees. (2 of which have moved and are very tough.)
More landscaping.
UNBELIEVABLE!
All,
I have the results all ready to go and to post on the PDGA website, but I can't get the page to open . I will try one more time before I crash for the night, and then I will get everything posted. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and I appreciate all the kind words. If there is any constructive criticism, I am open to that as well. If I am going to continue to do this, I would like ti to go as smooth as possible for both the players and myself. Thanks!
Jason
Thanks again Jason and crew for another well run tournament! And special thanks to Frank Grimes for getting that course ready in such a short time from the flood. It was beautiful. -_-
Round of applause for the volunteer spotters :D
Is PDGA.com down? ???
the database has been down since yesterday...

Thanks Juan
Great to see everyone out yesterday, besides the bug bites it was all good
who won?
Garret Diemler won Open with Brett and Sean Butler in a tie for 2nd.
Right on....
I bet them skeeters were pretty insane with all the flooding.
It seems the results are not posted after all. :-[
The results from the first weekend are up there - either they were re-added or they never disappeared. I believe the site was down already by the time Jason tried to upload the scores, so now that the site it back (yay) he can get them up there.
Results are now posted, but they are a little off. I contacted Karolyn Garlock because it will not allow me to change the layout to a 24 hole course. She said that they are still working out thye glitches and to try again later. At least the scores are posted, but the score to par is just not right.
