Title: Best Courses Around Rock Island
Post by: tflo101 on July 01, 2008, 01:41:23 PM
So I might go up to see my friend this weekend in Rock Island.  I looked on PDGA course directory and found a lot of courses within a short distance of that area code.  Anyone have any suggestions as to which ones are the best to go play?

Lot's of good choices in the Quad Cities area.  I haven't played West Lake yet but it is supposed to be very good and very challenging.  I know shorter tees have now been installed to make the course more rec. friendly.  Middle Park is very good, followed IMO by Camden and Prospect.   Click on the link below, and then click on neighboring basket icons for more info, maps, etc.

Middle is a good choice, but there may be flooding issues.  It should be OK, get a course map http://www.qcdiscgolfclub.com/courses/middle/middle_map.pdf

West Lake is awesome, and not for the casual player.  The longs are uber-challenging, the shorts are managable, and a round will take longer than most courses (24 holes).

Camden is nice, plus they just finished a second course on the same site.  The new course is all in the woods and word is it's pretty challenging, too.

Prospect is nice; avoid Longview in Rock Island, very difficult to navigate and not that great.
