Jason,

If you do half in you better hire Bruce as a consultant. Saturday at Aurora was crazy with the payouts. There were half-ins cashing. There were half-ins cashing & taking prizes instead of cash. Money got bumped to the top. The concept is a good one but very difficult to run properly. I was lost. I held the bags and Bruce told me what to do.
Title: Re: Joliet Pro Championships Oct 25-26
Post by: Bruce Brakel on July 21, 2008, 10:26:29 PM
It is simple enough conceptually.  If half-ins cash they get half.  If they cash in a tie, first you average or split the payouts for the ties, and the give them half of their split.  The highest cashing half-in's other half goes to the highest cashing full-in.  The second highest half-in to the second highest full in.

I think trophy-only is harder to deal with than 1/2 in.

Brett, I've got an idea to make that process go smoother.

Half in is harder unless you use the calculator. (Did you use it Saturday?) Ties with half-in are a pain in the neck.

Chains of Pain will be at Bevier on the 26th, I'm the TD.  It will be AM only as I figure all of the pro's would rather go play the Joliet tournament.  I forgot about AM's playing pro and not taking cash when I gave the thumbs up to the scheduling, but I'll survive.

I'll post more information about it later - and because I don't want to steal the thread :)

I talked to Gary Lewis tonight and if everything goes as planned and he gets the baskets back from getting galvanized we will be installing the baskets on Saturday October 11th.  So if you or anyone you know is interested in helping install the baskets we will be at Highland Park this Saturday.

Anyone interested in playing Highland before the Joliet Pro Championships and would like to try and win some money while doing so is welcomed to come out to Highland Park Saturday October 18th for the Joliet Area disc golf league picnic.  The Grand Opening of Highland Park will take place around 11:30 and the first round of best shot will take place shortly after.

Jason, do you have any other input for Highland on the course layouts to be used? Shorts being red and longs being blue, or what's the scoop?

Why is the J-Town crew not running this event and why is there no flyer on jolietdiscgolf.com?
How much does it cost to play?
What time is check in & Tee off on Saturday?
How many players are registered?
What tees are being played?
Why is the new premier course not being played round 4?

Why are my property taxes being raised?

"J-Town Crew" is running the event.

They are using Channy R4 because they have the Pavilion reserved out there.  Alson, Channy is a great course as well and I would consider it a "premier" Joliet Area course.

I second that!

Tees at Highland could get messy too, as they're just dirt/grass right now. I've already slipped a few times while throwing a drive out there

Channahon will be long tees except # 9 and 16

registration will be At lockport and end at 8:15

based on high levels of afternoon play at Highland if the weather is good we will:

register at Lockport
R1 Highland
R2 Lockport
R3 Highland
R4 Channahon

I don't understand property taxes, the Stock market, or your physical problems very well but good luck with that...

Seek and destroy isn't a very good post reader and obviously doesn't know "the J-Town crew"

Wait, registration is at one course and first round is elsewhere? Jason can you just post a flyer for this? A lot of questions will be answered a lot easier if there is one set of information available.

Also, what is reg and what is long for Highland? There are 3 sets of tees there. Will the same layout be used both rounds? Thanks buddy.

In Jason's defense, the Lockport course is literally 5 minutes away from Highland, and I think my comment about the tees made him change when they were playing which course

At Highland Long = Blue, Reg = White, Short = Red

Register at Lockport, drive somewhere else, then come back to Lockport?  Why not register at Highland?

I have a question about the Amateur Half-in option that was advertised.  If I pay the half-in entry ($35) and I get 4th place worth $150 for example; I will get $75 in merchandise correct?  I just want clarification on how you are working this and if you will have merchandise on-hand.

that is correct, gary will have merch

mukey is correct reg is white and long is blue, same layout both rounds

the reason that registration is at Lockport and the first round is highland is because...
1. we wanted to play highland in the morning when it isnt so busy
2. from the start we advertised/planned on registration at Lockport and didn't want to confuse non-connected folks

Jason,

What time & where is the player meeting?

I want to get an idea of when/where I need to be. I plan on registering early then heading over to Highland to play the course for the first time. I'll take the consequences of not attending the player meeting if it's at Lockport and RD 1 is still at Highland.

Things seemed to go well yesterday.  33 Open players.

I think lead card is Mcinney, Sprague and Coine.  Hot at Highland was a 51 or 52.  I think -9 was hot at Lockport.

Sprague may have a 1 stroke lead, I think...

Only 2 people shot "under" at Highland this am- Sprague shot 51 and ShawnE shot 53.  I'm guessing the wind helped keep the scores up.  Maybe Marcottes party, if he had one, helped out as well..
