25 of those discs that you aren't suppose to be able to find... came in.  CFR Champion GAZELLES - weights range from 162 to 152 - Clear Pearl, Blue, Orange and Pink...

Guys, want to buy a light weight quality disc for the girlfriend?  How about a 152g Pink Champion Gazelle?  $20.00 shipped with CFR Certificate.

Love the way a DX Gazelle flys but want one that doesn't beat in too quick?  Try a Champion 10g lighter...

I will be PMing those who got in line first with their weight and color options.  Once I get thru those folks, I will post the available color/weight combos.

Thank you all who pm'd in advance.

McManus should be all over those. He's the only guy i've seen throwing a Gazelle in years.  He might tell you he's buying for his girlfriend though.

does anyone know what tees will be played at Lincoln??? Those whit/blue look VERY VERY LONG and tough. Went and checked out both courses today. Douglas very ridiculous, every hole is very capable of being a 2 from short tees.
At Douglas, is there a mando on hole #2?  I went HYZER thru the woods for a 2.

Clark Wright has shot -17 down at Douglas...  that being said - we have alternate pins at Douglas.  You will be playing different pins at the tourney... [read it will play harder]

We will mixing up the layout at Douglas this year for the Tourney...  Ziggy has been Jonesing for temp holes for 3 years...  He now gets his wish.

If you are not playing Rec or Intermediate... you will be playing Lincoln from the Longs.  Open from the Blues...  Advanced from the Whites... unless there is not 9 people in a division - need 9 for your rating to count - if that's the case Open and Advanced would play from the same tees...

We have alternate pins for Lincoln as well - Lincoln will be even harder than you saw today - don't worry about being challenged by the course...  she can keep up with anybody's game that shows up.

At leagues today we were discussing the tourney from the Blues for Advanced and Open amd Intermediate from the Whites...

Advanced, from the Reds was hard enough. +2 1st time ever seeing it.

At least I have seen the course some, I guess.

Machine shot even from the Whites today at Leagues...

To be honest, I would never tell somebody to drive more than an hour to play Douglas... but you don't "love" the game if you are not willing to drive 6 hours to play Lincoln in its Tourney Set-up...  It will challenge you.

11 from the longs in the long alternate pin position - is as good as it gets...

9 from the Blues will test anybody's true golf-shot distance...

14 is as difficult risk vs. reward hole you will come by not relying on gimmicks to be memorable.

I promise you... you will remember playing Lincoln.

*evil g*

I like to think douglas is a warm-up for the lincoln factor.

History has dictated such with the douglas-lincoln debate.

There will be some modifications to douglas to provide a pucker factor as well as some out of bound lines to make you think twice.

With this in mind, lincoln will still hit you hard if you can't keep your disc in bounds! 9 holes have seen "circles" on the scorecards.

Wish I knew you were in town, would have been glad to show you a couple tricks.

Btw, #2 douglas - come oct 4. Mando left of the gap - aim for the opening down the hill that you walked up to #3.

Thanks.
Figured so about Hole #2. Too easy of a 2 thru the opening.

Machine beat me by a stroke last weekend at the Morton Pumpkin Festival, 108, 109

Need a few of the birdies I had hit chains & out stay in then if we playing the whites.

Thanks again.

I don't think those 2nd round ratings look right...  you might want to check the round settings to ensure that it says the divisions are marked as playing the right rounds at the proper courses and proper layouts.  But other than that, thanks for getting them up so quickly!

Thank you to Brad Dow and Kent Schafer for being the Tournament Directors of this event

Mad Props to Jim Trotter and Jason Thomas for dealing with Merchandise.

Even more Kudos for Kim Dow as she dealt with the majority of registration.

to Machine, Viva, Ziggy, Lefty, and Smurf - legwork indeed.

Last but not least - the Springfield Park District. This event would not have been a reality without them.

CTP's were handed out to each GROUP. literally a 1 in 3 or 4 shot. 33% or 25% chance of winning a disc, whoo! Bunches of discs were unloaded.

Rec division..
Where else can you get a $10 water bottle, a $10 t-shirt if you pre-reg, a player's pack with various items, a chance to win a ctp from your group (1 in 3 shot for a disc), free drawings for prizes and participating in a side competition for only $12?

As a result for pricing it that low to have a good time, we did not offer any prizes outside of trophy disc for 1st for the Rec Division.

Congrats to Hermosillo (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=25345) for his first PDGA PRO WIN of the year!

On a side note - Curiousity from a designer's point of view - How did the Douglas layout work out for the Pros/ADV division?

If you have any suggestions or feedback - I welcome it so there's room for improvement !!

I have received the following so far..

1) Temp Laminated teesigns to cover original # at douglas to eliminate confusion from "adding a # to figure out what hole you are on" for the REC/INT division.

2) Split course - have pre-reg at the course where play 1st rd to reduce the REC/INT travel.

How did the douglas temp design work out for you?

Was lincoln all you expected? Hard to believe every hole has been 2'd from the long tees except #9 so far.

Toss up between #3, 4, 8, 11, 14, 16, or 17 being the signature hole for lincoln..

Lincoln was great.  Allowing the lower divisions to play from Red tees was still very challenging.  I didn't like hole 16's OB on the sidewalk.  That could have gone away and I wouldn't have complained about it.  I think some of the OB needed to be described better in the handbook - like hole 17 if you go in the road, 16's sidewalk, and I can't think of the other stuff.  The pin placements were great though.

Douglas - I don't know what the regular 16 looks like, but you could have kept the alt 15 and 16 and kept all of the holes as well.  The hole 6 was intriguing, but I'm not sure if it was a huge addition to the course or not.  I liked the idea of different OB between the upper and lower divisions - not sure if they needed as many alternate tees (especially with just grass tees).  The craziest thing was holes 7 - 14.  If you just said that there is no hole 7, players just go from 6 to 8 and then play 8 to 15 with the temp holes numbered A and B or 16 and 16A and then go to 17 might have helped.  Then you just add a note for pro/adv that they tee from 7's tee when playing hole 8... I think that would have alleviated a lot of the confusion.  I understand that the tee signs were just changed before the event or something, but yeah, it was really rough on a lot of the players.  I think the part that we had the most trouble was that you feel like you're playing one hole on the scorecard but the basket # doesn't match, and you just feel like you're doing something wrong.

I'd also support a larger entry fee for rec so that we could have more of a payout or change the player pack so that there could be a payout.  It was weird for me to play up a division, finish in 6th out of 17, and then only 1st gets a trophy disc.

Those are my thoughts :)

Scott,

The year before the routing at douglas was not good, there was a major back up. I don't remember the exact layout but I think there were problems between 16 and 18.  They really needed the two alt holes this year. It was a very good move to make those changes.

I wasn't around for 2006 and 2007 CCC due to work.

What I do know.

#1 - #2 major risk of attacking each other from the tees, as evidenced by scott's throw off the tee of #2. The idea of brett's rule about having #1 spot for #2 before teeing off is a great one which can introduce #1 back into the picture since we preferred #2 to retain its original shot while moving #1 out for 2008.

#6-#7 major risk since the optimal rhbh route was to throw @ #7 teepad with a slight fade which led to the change of 6-7.

Plus on my thousands of safari routes I play all across douglas, #7 concrete to #8b pin is my fave "hole" I agree with brett about the teesign and I'll see what I can do to move it for next year to keep that hole. Talk about risk/reward.

There is also several holes that cud play into a long drive coming at the tee to which an o.b. Line slowed down those boomers from trying to nail the next teepad throwers. Granted - some lines need be marked longer for those who happen to make errant shots. As noted on temp #8. And quite possibly temp #10 (add 1, to get the original pin)

I like scott's suggestion bout numbering scorecards - *insert matrix voice* "there is no 7" =]

Appreciate that idea.

The temp holes around the tennis court also slowed down the transition instead of having backup hit #14-#17 as tom suggested and provided new elements instead of same ol same ol.

I wanted to avoid anyone "dialing in" a hole as much as possible and provide a change.

We have concrete tees for the longs in the park proposal for a couple years now and bureaucratic red tape with the p.d. Is still there. I hope that sooner than later they will wise up so we can complete douglas.

Lincoln #16 - sidewalk noted and will probably avoid using it as OB for next year.

Keep them coming - they r much appreciated and the foundation to improving our presentation.

Missing from that list is Peoria Disc Golf Club and Bloomington-Normal Disc Golf Club

I gave Machine and Ziggy 2 discs and $10 at Hamilton on behalf of PFC and BN DGC.

Oh snap, thanks for the reminder dana.

Yes! Must recognize the PFC and BN DG club for their donation.

We had a nifty thing out where we wud CTP for a designated club. Thought that might be something to attract other "club members" such as pfc, bn, discontinuum, grabm, quadcity, stlou, sidg, sdgc, fox valley (am I missing any clubs within 3 hrs of us?) Where their own club can donate a ctp for their members to compete on a hole of the TD's choice to draw more members to said tourney.

Yep.  we matched 25 Club Credits within our inventory for the Discontinuum, SIDG and BNDG - so they were all $50.00 plus value CTPs for the specific clubs - we also gave the winner of the overall CTP a CFR Destroyer...
