Ok, I think Innova has officially run out of names for a disc, and it's going to take a mega-arm to be able to throw this thing... maybe it's specifically made for Kallstrom lol.
But the name... The Boss. What kind of name for a disc is that? If they make it in DX, what kind of hot stamp would THAT be? Too bad there's a trademark on images from Dilbert or else I'd be submitting a hot stamp design with the pointy haired boss on it to go right on the disc!
or a likeness of Springsteen...
Definately a cigar in mouth, something like Jonah Jameson.

Since I really shouldn't be throwing anything much faster than a Gazelle, I think I will take a pass. Maybe if they make a Little Steve which would also be known as the Silvio..
I think tony danza should be on the disc. I bet he'd be all for continuing his career even if it is on a disc.
King Richard I.
in honor of all the disc golf courses in Chicago..... ::)
I can just hear them at Innova East: "Guys we gotta get Bruce's order out the door so we can announce the release of a new disc!"
LOL... The Boss
You would think they would be able to think of a more creative name then that. I could think of at least 100 names for discs that are more creative and could be used that are not in use yet.
Enlighten us.
it stops at Hook #3 right, so Hook #4 - Hook #103 are all available :P

When Innova or Discraft decides to do a Name the new Disc contest I will be more then happy to ;) Until then I will save all 100+
Innova's most recent names for discs (by approval date from PDGA) since 1/1/07:
The Boss (it's approved on the PDGA as just "Boss")
Monarch
Pulsar (guess they found another one that has been out for a while that wasn't on the approved list :) )
Pig
XCaliber
Sonic
Destroyer
Gremlin (this one was a really old one, right?)
Kite
The only one I like out of that list is Destroyer... MAYBE Sonic, but Sonic should have been a driver name, not a putter.
I like the name and when did they say the release will be?

I agree the Sonic should have been a driver name. I did like the PIG though it seem appropriate for the disc. Although the pig seems a lot like a zone
Did you guys read this on the PDGA forum. I guess the 1st run Boss is flying more Destroyer like, instead of XCaliber like.
The XCal did take the place of the TeeRex for me, and the test shot Boss's would have taken the place of the XC, but there might be a change. We just started running the Boss and it seems a little different from the test run. This kind of thing happens as the test run is short and the mold might never reach homeostasis. At any rate, we will know after this weekend of testing. As it stands now, the current run of the Boss seems to be more Destroyer like than XCaliber like. They also seem to be going farther than the test run Boss too. This might be somewhat related to weight as the 175s seem a little more stable than the 171s.
.
From what I understand, the wing is going to be wider than the XCaliber.
got a 172 cfr proto boss in the mail today I will be going out tomorrow to give it some huk's and I will let you guys know what happens!

Please do! I really want to give this disc a toss.
I just hope Taylor doesn't break out into singing Born in the U.S.A.
Innova sent out a Product release today.

Until the general release, the Boss will be made available to tournaments for custom hot stamping.
The Boss is the first 13 speed distance driver
Weight range : 173 to 175 grams
Ratings 13, 4, 0, 4
How can we ley folk get our hands on these first run stamped discs.
hey cool I have more warning to save up money to place an order on the 6th for those first runs.
I'm also trying to get 50 of these puppies to be stamped for the Bloomington/Normal stamp. How cool would that be? I don't think I'll know for sure until Monday though. They wouldn't be CFR plastic, so reward dollars could be used as well.
ok, the name is gay...but how does it throw??? i bet when you get used to it it will get alot of distance but then you will be over anhiesering everything else.
The disc is ridiculously fast, and very straight out of the box. I've been giving it a bunch of throws and it is breaking in nicely. Like a faster beat in destroyer without having to throw it a couple hundred times. O0
I just got these bad boys in TODAY and they are certainly the latest buzz everywhere.
Let me know if you're interested in getting one, or two, or a few for you and your buddies. I will certainly work out a good price and get them shipped or delivered asap. I'm only in Milwaukee so not more than 2 days shipping at most.

Do you have a mixture of the "types" that were said to be released? Scott R. had one that the flight plate was nearly inverted and was fairly understable.
All max weight? Stamp?
I don't know why I'm asking these questions, unfortunately I can't afford to buy any new plastic right now ;D
I picked up a few a couple of days ago. All of mine looked perfect with good flight plates and no bubbles. The stability still varied though. The max weight 175g that I threw flew like a really fast max weight Wraith while the 173g I threw yesterday flew a lot more like a new max weight star Destroyer. It's hard to tell what you're going to get.
Variability in stability is unavoidable in these new wider rimmed discs. It is not an Innova thing. People I talk to at Discraft say its a wide rim thing.
I'll have 25 at Fairfield.
Hey there Serg,
I guess I was fortunate in that I received a handful of different colors. I received some bright orange, bright yellow, light blue, pinkish purple, and geenish yellow. I received one or two that are almost completely clear as well.
I haven't seen any bubbles so to speak that others are talking about. However, I haven't inspected my entire collection just yet. Along those lines I haven't noticed if any are incredibly dented in on the top. Most of them look to be pretty standard in terms of how the flight plate 'should' look.
They are inconsistent in that I've seen the weight range as 172 to 175 or also 173 to 175. I know that of all the discs I received, they all looked to be either 173, 174, or 175.
I'm shipping out more than a dozen to people today so if anyone needs them let me know and I can get it out right away. PM me if interested.
Thanks!
PS - I haven't even thrown one myself. Maybe I'll get around to that today, maybe not though.

I have 50 arriving today. 10 are already spoken for. No idea what I'm picking up for weights and colors. Limit two per person please. All should have the Innova star symbol stamp.
This may have aready been mentioned, but are they Champion or Star plastic?
Champion
Looks like the Boss will be a signature Dave Feldberg disc. hmm, Innova trying to say something? oh wait, it's not called Bossy... ;)
More like whinny
Should anyone not like their max weight Boss's I'm looking to trade for some (read... I'm broke)
I have a couple nice supercolor Buzzz's; Sparkle Z-Force, Am Nats red Z-Force, Midnight Buzzz, Elite Z J-bird dye'd Buzz w/ Leviathon Stamp... Photon UV Soft Challengers (white that turn purple in sunlight)
All those are new except the J-bird dyed buzzz, I used that one for a couple rounds after ponding my goto Buzzz. Also have a couple boxes of other new/used stuff.
Thanks,
Jesse
I've got a 173 gram, pink champion Boss that goes really far with little effort. No way it is near the stability that my orange, echo excauliburs are. Havent given it field testing, but the few throws on the course had me liking it. I've got big hands so the rim doesn't bother me. This is almost like a lighter, faster destroyer (I think). Once I get to a field this week I'll post more...
I got out and threw a very dark blue 175g Boss this morning. I was throwing it on a football field from goal post to goal post. There was a steady 10 mph blowing north. I was able to throw it into a head wind and with a tail wind. It flew very similar to my Star Destroyers but is definitley fast. I want to give a try on the course.
Just got a bright greenish Boss 174g and it has a domie deck compared to star Xcal; will be out later today in an open field to see how it flies compared to Destroyer, Xcal, Wraith.

It should be quite overstable if it is domey. Let us know.
Wow; the Champion Boss is even better than I expected; much less overstable than Xcal and better glide than any of the others in my bag; Threw in an open field area back to back with Xcal, Destroyer, Beast, Valky and Wraith; consistently longer; getting 400+ and more predictable flight than the others, even on the very first throw !!

Wow! I threw this disc in practice on the course at Adler and used it on 4 holes. It very similar in stability to my other Star Destroyers but holy crap it's fast. This baby is staying in my bag for a while.
