The upside of not playing any tournaments since April is that my rating hasn't moved since the June update!

Broke the 960 threshold. 9 more to reach my goal for this year of 970! Better get working on staying away from tree trunks, limbs, bushes and schule.

No movement here. I did get that 926 from last year dropped. A goal of mine for the year was to play no rounds under 950. So far so good.

The biggest move up by a Brakel this update is................Kira!! Up 17 points to 838!!! Congrats

The biggest move down....me. And 2 of my rounds from Worlds weren't used....that hasn't happened to me in a while-usually all my rounds are used.

I think I'm going to buy a round with Brett to straighten this out!!!

It's hard to make a 17 point move when you have a lot of rounds in your database.

Maddisen went up some too, didn't she?  Congrats to Maddisen.  Kelsey went up to 911.  Her hottest round at Worlds was 991 and so was mine, so I rightfully retained the crown.  I went up a half point and now I'm advanced rated again.  Diana joined Becky on the down ramp.

One of my better ratings updates in quite awhile.  I only dropped 1 point down to 920!  Hopefully I can avoid dropping under 900 until maybe 2010.  Thats a goal of mine.

I would also like to shoot 1 round under 800.  I've been so close but never quite finished the job.

Yes, Bruce, Maddisen went up but not as far as Kira. I think it was 12 or 13 points. She made it to 650 :)

If you sign up for my stroke waster lessons I can help you reach your goal. Speaking of lessons, thanks to Brett and his Stroke Saver lessons, I moved up a few points and have very few of Dan's desired rounds lately. For anybody considering a lesson just think how much Brett can help your game if he can even gelp a hacker like me!

I second that.  Thanks for the lessons, Brett. I  moved up 44 points. I still have a ways to go but I'm working on it.

I'm up six. I also dropped a round only 60 points lower than my rating. Looks like I'm also getting more consistent.

i went up 19 points from 872 to 891. i'm going to probably play intermediate next year. i had alot of rounds over 900 at the end of this season, so next season im gonna make every round over 900.

Missed my goal of 970 for the year by 1 damn point....969. It was gratifying to finally break away from the 950 realm in which I resided for more than 2 years. I improved by 21 points this year. Next year's goal is 985!

I'm up 2 points to 922.  I believe my stated goal for the year was merely to improve from 926.  Apparently that didn't work, so my goal for next year is to reach 1014.  My plan for this is simple.  Shoot very few rounds rated less than 1000 and sprinkle in some 1030-1050 action.

Seriously though, I didn't play enough this year if I want to get better.  In 2009 I want to play atleast 5 days every week from April-October, even if its only shooting 1 round at Fairfield.  A consistent regiment of playing daily is something that probably helped me 3-4 years ago, but has been missing the last 2 years.  My main problem is getting a little 'off' on my drives at some point during rounds, and then rarely being able to recover from this for the remainder of the round.

Hopefully in November of 2009 I'll look back and realized I did what I said I would do and it helped me to improve my game and my tournament results.  I think getting to a player rating of 935 next year would be satisfactory.  I've emailed this goal to myself to reinforce it come Spring of '09.

After the last rating update my goal was to finally break the 950 mark for the first time, and I went up 5 points to 953, so I'm pretty pleased with that. Now my next goal is to remember how to putt and see about improving that even more!

It seems that you have played just inconsistent enough to continue as a bagger in Intermediate.  I am sure that with your plans for 2009 you will shortly return to being a donor in Advanced and that you will soon stop donating there.  ;)

I went up 1 hole point thanks to a lousy day at Fairfield.  I want to leave all sub 800 rounds in the rear view mirror and had just about done that.  I will improve from gawdawful to mediocre. My realistic goal is to be a Novice bagger in 2009 and a Rec. donor in 2010.  We willl see how that goes. I will have to return to my Sensei for further training.  Now that he is only 4 ponts from 1000 he is dubunking the theory that those who can't do teach.

Wish the homie ratings could have made it in... results are posted, official ratings are not.  Those two rounds - while not super (and I felt like I played terrible too) - might have kept me from dropping a point to 825.  oh well.

2009 goal: keep on having fun.

Justin we are going to battle for the top 953 spot!

Scott - those ratings look like they need work from Homies still. Right now my 2 down on silver is rated lower than my 2 down on blue. My guess is that they haven't broken apart the groups by course yet.

Went up 10 points this update and 31 points on the year to 952..  My goal for next year is to just keep moving up.. I have seen alot of players get good and then hit a wall.. dont want that to happen to me.

Everybody is going to hit a wall somewhere.  I think Chuck Kennedy observed today that Ken Climo got to 1039 and just kind of stalled out there!   ;D

I am very pleased with the finish to the year. I was actually surprised to see my rating jump to the highest it's ever been. If I could get started and keep it rolling I could possibly hit that 1000 mark but i'm not sure if i'm capable at playing at the level for long periods of time. I pretty much get everything out of my skill level that I possible can. I scratch and claw for every possible stroke. One goal of mine is to cash at Worlds. I'm 0 for 2.

I started preparing for 2009 that Monday after the Joliet Pro Championships. I'm down 7lbs after 4 weeks and hoping to drop 10 to 15 more. I'm hoping to get my weight between 200 to 205 by April. I haven't seen those #'s since 1998.

Putting continues to stay at the top of my priority list in areas to improve. I also want to add a forehand I can trust into the mix. Can't wait for 09!

by the slimmest of margins I accomoplished my rating goal for the summer.  Made 900 exactly on this update :)  Not bad after starting the year at 852, bombing @ BG to drop to 842 & putting a ton of time & effort into my game to climb to 900.  I also moved back to Michigan from Indy so the competition should be a bit tougher than back in Indy. (Alot of players moved straight to Open in Indy after getting the hang of the game)

went up 9 to 938.  The first round at Hamilton was dropped and thank god.  Although I am proud of not being last in advanced even though i had gone to the emergency room that friday of the  tournament with a ripped up finger from work and had to throw the disc in between my middle and ring finger so it wouldn't rip my bandage off causing even more pain.  My goal is to steadily increase with no stalling or dropping next year.

I don't have any dropped rounds.

There was a time when I was the PDGA's second most consistant player, second only to Mark Ellis.  Back when Rodney used to do stats he once sorted the player data base by Standard Deviation and figured this out.  Back then Mark Ellis was consistantly good and I was consistantly awful, but at least I was consistant.   ;D

I'm up 59points. from 585 to 644.    There is a benefit to getting rating right after you throw your 1st disc.  You move up quickly.  Hope I can keep moving up for a while.    ;D
Title: Re: Ratings Update 9/08/08
Post by: Bruce Brakel on November 26, 2008, 06:12:57 PM
You do move up quickly for awhile and that's really fun.  I can remember watching Kelsey and her friends gain 20 or 30 ratings points every update and we'd project a straight line to Ken Climo.  At 59 points per update, you'll be #1 in the Open Men's field in about 2 years!   ;D

The other nice thing about getting a rating right away is when you slow down on improving your rating keeps going up as the early low rated rounds drop off.

Used my new 900 rating this weekend in Ypsilanti & entered my first tourney in Am2.... 4 strokes off the lead going into round 2 & pulled out a victory by staying calm through the storm so to speak.  Couple inches of snow fell during the 2nd round.  Good start to the move up eh :)
