I thought we should have a place to post our aces, since most of us post them when we get them.
I'll start...
6.15.03 #6 at Bevier
6.21.03 #8 at Fairfield
Two in 1 week. I am the aceman this week!

But give me half a chance, and I'll be taking out my discs and playing in the jungle....
I'm an Aceman, I'm a big Aceman, oh I'm an Aceman....."
yeah
whatever :)
Congrats Jon!!!
The ace at Fairfield on #8 was cruising. Can't believe it stuck!
#8 is the short hole about 125ft in the woods. The basket sits very low on a downward slope.
You should have seen Jon's face as he walked up to collect the $250.00 He was in a daze. Nice shot Jon! You are on FIRE.
It was sweet! Just drifted softly into the basket.
ACE Today! #11 Madison Meadows, Lombard
which one is 8?
#5 for the year so far. Nailed #5 at Bevier (concrete) after the meeting Sunday. My first dead straight Roc ace.
Ok so a buddy of myself, Kyle and Steve has been playing for around 4 months or so and he's doing really well. He has gotten his buddy into DG and he's done REALLY well. 4 weeks into playing and he is already shooting under par pretty consistantly. Well, the punk hit his first ace on hole 15 at UWP yesterday after playing for 4 and a half weeks. I think I'm gonna be ill....And YES that is jealousy speaking! :-)
You guys aren't going to believe this, because I'm having a hard time believing it myself. Tonight Brett and I met at Streamwood to play best shot doubles. My group started on 18, so our last hole was 17. I'm the last guy to throw in my group. It's 270 feet straight shot shooting out of a tree area on the right, bushes on the left. I threw my Z Wildcat and it went straight out, faded right and as it came back to the left with about 50 feet to go, my partner, Paul, says "ACE BABY" followed by a CHINGGGGG!!!!! I hit the ACE!!!! And get this, the ace pool was $250!!!!!!!!!! I still can't believe it. 3 aces in two weeks. Whoooooohooooooooo!!!!!!
Very nice!
June must be the Brakel brother's month. #3, 6-9, Fairfield!
I think I saw on the PDGA website where the guy who just won Amateur Worlds has been playing for a year.
6.13.03 #8 at Adler Park
#6 for the year. It has been a good year for aces :D
anyway, it was #2 at Parkside from the shorts. A couple cars with young golfers drove by...a girl yells,"you have a cute dog," as I am throwing. I tried to look back at the car to see who said it, but the shot was looking good right off the pad. I knew it was in when it was in flight, it hits dead center chains and the guys in the cars start yelling and honking. It was cool.. as I was alone with the cute dog.
176-2001 CE Roc

10569 :)
Good going Shawn. :D
Nice Ace Shawn!!
Speaking of CE Rocs. Mike Kutella AKA Spazz has quite a few CE Rocs. He's always looking for trades. He'll definitely trade if you have CE Rocs. Just thought you might want to know.
:D Got #7 for the year tonight, my first glow ace worth $44 in the glow pool. It was #2 again...yes the same #2 as last Friday. yes the same CE Roc.
So, since the ace pool is gone...we need more people to show up on Fridays at 6:45/7ish. We have a solid core of 4-6 players that show up. Thing is with Pat gone, Paul screwing up his shoulder and Craigs fingers, we need more players.
Sweet!!! That's awesome you nailed the same one.
Also, my last post on this thread about CE Rocs. I meant to say Spazz would trade you a CE Rocs for CE Valks.
Way to go SithLord!!! You should be at the USDGC!
If I do play at all the rest of the year (unlikely), glow league is my destination.
Congradulations Shawn. Keep it up and the holder of the key will have to move that basket.
thanks all, the way I have been shooting the last 2 days, I wish I was at the USDGC. Took a friend out today..his first time throwing on a course. I birdied 10 in a row and got a par on 11, 12,16 and 17 to finish -14 on the present layout from the shorts. My best day ever... Hope to be shooting this well on the 8th.
Quote... Hope to be shooting this well on the 8th.
what's on the 8th?
Parkside, fundraiser for the disc golf club. I'm not sure what the name is yet. I was not at the meeting last Friday, but got a date out of them, Nov. 8th. I will post something when I get more details.
From what I heard it will be something like 12-20 bucks to play, you get a disc and play for plaques. One round around noon and the other is glow. We will have the Union hall and the basement will be open for booze and food. We will be helping the club organize it.

kinda like last year's Steady Ed thing... nuts. I have a gig that night. (actually, the third night of a mini-tour)
You'll have to reschedule it. 8)
Bagged hole 10 at the big chill today. The spotters told me it was off two trees and 4 branches.... Not that it matters though, my first ace where there's an ace fund attached! :D

Nice going, my long lost cousin... ;)
Aced 17 at Bever Dam today.
180' uphill.
Nice shot Pat!
wtg Pat, when u going to make it down for a Friday Glow? We tee off at 7....
Quotewtg Pat, when u going to make it down for a Friday Glow? We tee off at 7....
I have been thinking I should get in a night round soon. My daughter an I plan on playing a glow round at Beaver Dam Sunday evening.
I am thinking I'll make the trip down there for glow disc in a couple of weeks.
If it's any incentive, glow ace pool is up over $100. Hope you didn't use it up at Beaver Dam. Congrats.
$100 ace pool. Reminds me of the time I threw that lazer shot, I mean it was on a rope, into the basket on 16 during glow league to win $138. I can still hear the chains ringing as it hit. Hmmmmmmm, good times.
You mean the one that looked like it was going to hit the building, just missed the light, barely missed the tree over the sidewalk and mysteriously found the chains... lol... yep, good times.
Shawn,
I hope your Fruit Loops didn't shoot out your nose when you read that this morning.
I must have had a better view from the tee pad. I definetly remember it going straight for the basket. Well, that's the story I'm sticking with any way.
Aced hole #14 from the shorts today at parkside, got some help from the branch hanging down in front of it. :D
I know of that branch... way to go, keep it up... ;)
Got #9 (short) tonight.. Straight Roc, called it as I released it.
ohh ya.... Parkside.

Plus there were three other times that the chain were hit during the round
Nice shot, Shawn. Maybe we should have saved them for the tournament. :D
I call ace everytime I let it fly, even if it's a putt.
I'm usually right about 2% of the time, but oh man when I'm right I AM RIGHT
:)
Aced 12 Token Creek today before league.
Had my drive on 18 during league go through the chains. Everyone in my group including me thought it was in. Missed out on $102.50, my half of the ace pool. Maybe next week.
Aced hole #10 from the long tee at parkside. i threw a sidearm and it tapped a tree and hyzered right in.
QuoteAced hole #10 from the long tee at parkside. i threw a sidearm and it tapped a tree and hyzered right in.
Sweet! You win any money.
I hit #17 on the 23rd & #8 on the 30th at Fairfield during leagues. Won $162.00 & $26.00.
nope, didnt win any money. casual round with my dad and uncle.
Congrats!
I haven't had the opportunity to throw an ace myself this year, yet, but I have seen 4. One of these times it will be my own.

I realized when I read this that this is the last ace I've gotten. I don't measure myself in number of aces, but it is a long dry spell. I must be due one soon!!! :D
I figured out why no aces were hit in Crystal Lake. One guy had four aces at the Michiana, two at Rum Village and two at Ferretti-Baugo. I guess he has captured the Ace Fairy and has her on a short leash.
I'm still looking for my first lefty ace.
Aced holes 7 and 14 in the same round at Parkside today. ;D
Doubling my total aces in a single round is going to be hard for me to top in the future.
been playing for 5 or 6 years and was the only person in my group of friends who had never got an ace.
finally this year i started hitting some...
#1 bevier - pro eagle
#2 parkside (basket in front of the large bush) - champ valk
#13 crystal lake - champ cobra
#8 crystal lake(the small course by the school, i know its short but ive had an ace drought for so long, im countin it^^) - stingray
also had a long duece on #3 parkside i try to count as a theoretical ace ;)
had a terrible drive, hit a tree, and my disc landed directly behind the short pad on the left. second shot was looking good, but it hit some of the overhanging branches above the basket and then just fell in.

Good job on the ace on 13 at Lippold. That hole is such a pain (especially for a lefty like me). I think #8 at Hanna Beardsley is an ok one to count ;) Now if you said hole 6.... different story!
Still hoping to get my first ace someday! Hit dead center chain on hole 9 at Westchester, but it bounced out :(
If you want to get an ace to break the barrier, go to Leo Leathers Park in Mundelein. I go there if I have not hit an ace in a while.
My first and only ace was hit when I was 14 at Sinnissippi Park in Sterling. It was #3 downhill towards the creek, blind basket. Heard the chains, assumed I had thrown on someone down the hill and they were putting. Came to a point where I could see down the hill and saw my disc in the basket. Proceeded to run down the hill, fell and rolled like 30 feet down the hill, very sweet. Hopefully a more current ace will be in my future.

Sweet Mirth!
One of these days I will be able to post one...I've hit basket a couple times this year but no ACE yet :-\
Honorable mention: My most recent was at glow league and I almost got a skip ace. I wanted it sooo bad too because we had about 15-20 glowstics on this one basket and it was lit up like a christmas tree.
Would have exploded and looked awesome
I'm still looking for a lefty ace. I take half my drives lefty, except at tournaments, and get plenty of birdies. Kira got an ace at league the other day.
I hit the top of the chain assembly on the basket for hole #7 at Lippold (Crystal Lake) on Sunday. So frustrating to come so close yet have it stung backwards. Thankfully finished with an easy birdie. It was the first time I had tried going with the Sidewinder on a slight anny route (lefty) instead of my jumbo hyzer route that goes around the gap instead of through it. Guess I'll be throwing that more often now :)
Hit #8 at Valparaiso from the short tee on Friday.
Kinda funny as my brother hit a fairway ace on #4 and I said the only way that shot would be beat was by an ace...
Way to hit it Chris. Was your brother buying Friday night? :icon_geek:
Nah, but he drove out there so I couldn't complain. For me a season isn't complete without at least 1 trip to Valpo. Biggest hill I've thrown off of yet.
How tall is the hill and how long is that hole? I've not played out there before.
I'll have to check my pics from a few years ago, but I believe the hole is 450-550' and the hill is probably West Park's #2 X4.
To give you an idea, they have rope-rails there that they have to help people get up the hill for sledding in the winter.
Hmmm I guess playing West Park would help too! So do you throw a midrange then and let the hill do the work? I like holes like that. Timber Ridge in Kalamazoo, MI has a lot like that since it's built on a ski slope and the course I played (and wrote about in the courses forum) has one hill like that. Just short of 400 and I overthrew the basket with a super roc.
I came extremely close once again to my first ace today. I chained out on hole #4 at Oak Brook, not an easy achievement for a lefty! It was just a hair too far to the left, otherwise it could have hit the pole and dropped in.
If you read my other post today ...
And I aced the third hole I played in the morning, # 18, a blind, down-the-hill, righty hyzer shot. I did not hear the chains. I was looking for my disc and the intermediate in my mixed group said, "Dude, it's in the basket." It was kind of wedged in the bottom of the basket like maybe it never hit any chains but just spiked into the gap in the spokes and stuck there.
yup Bruce, it looks like you may have the first DISContinuum ace of the year. I know Sergio hit one on the 14th at Bevier leagues, but you take top honors.

Hit hole 3 out at Clark Park today on my first shot of the tourney!
I heard it. Nice shot!
LAST NIGHT HOLE #8 NEW BUFFALO GROVE COURSE ESP PREDATOR
That's a long ace! 420ft. Unless you ment the other BG course.
No the new course on aptakistik and BG rd. (Twin Creeks)
I have been hoping to get a lefty ace for some time. On balanced short courses, like Vienna Park this Saturday, I take a lot of lefty drives. For the day I was -3 lefty and -4 righty. But no aces.
Today we went out to play Kensington. After a few holes Kelsey was having pain in her side. She had had the same pain Wednesday. It is some kind of throwing injury. So she suggested we could go home, get lefty discs, and play Squirrel.
So the first round at Squirrel I was playing righty trying to tie Jon's record of ten under for nine holes, until we came to basket 8 which is now stolen basket 8. Second round I played Kelsey lefty vs lefty. She aced hole 4. Hole 4 is only about 70 feet, but it was lefty.
nice!
Hit hole 10 at Lippold yesterday. It was an ugly ace. B)
maaaan, I came so close to hitting 10 yesterday too. I had a great line but it was just short. It at least stuck in the ground to give me the easy putt. I lost sight of it right at the end of because of a tree, but I thought I actually had a chance!
nice job :)
Hole 6 in St. Charles with a discraft flick. Atowndoug saw me blow through the chains on the same hole, with the same disc, two rounds later.
I was out at Parkside today and there were a couple of guys hanging out on #17 - which is super-short at the moment - each with a stack of a dozen or so discs, firing away for as many aces as they could manage. They wrote down at least one on the 'big board'. Amusing or a little pathetic, you choose.
Tee to basket is an ace. It is pretty weak though.
hit #17 at the new river oaks course in cal city on friday, around 2pm. only witness was a ball-golfing buddy, who gave me his own interpretation of a standing ovation. not sure of the distance, since the scorecards and plastic hadn't been delivered to the pro shop yet. a 175g glow Homie starfire, i believe it skipped out of the bunker into the chains. maybe the first ace at this course?
thats a sweet ace!
New hole #8 at Warren in Gurnee. The cement around the basket was still wet so I think its probably the first.
#10 at Round Lake with a Leopard on Saturday.
#2 at West Park in Joliet today with a Pumpkin Roc
Sweet!
I've long wondered if I'd ever get to post to this thread.
Hit #7 from Red/White tees at Mokena during the IL State Championships. It was also a 50/50 CTP. Three other aces were hit that day, but I still walked away with $63. Picked a good time to hit my first ace.
Hit #12 today at Mokena from the whites.
Then I went to the players meeting and started the tournament a half hour later.
Isn't that the one up on the rail road ties in the trees? That's a sweet ace. Should have saved it for 30 min, but still an amazing shot.
Nope that's 13. I hit 12, the short one before it. Still an ace and a good shot, but yes I would have enjoyed doing it during the round!
I was able to witness an ace by Tom McManus on hole #10 at Manitowalk on Friday night. He then aced hole #4 the next day during the tournament for $87. He almost made it 3 days in a row by nailing the bin at Mokena Sunday. Nice work Tom!
Tom did win the pie toss, so that's pretty close!
My first ace! But uhm... do I really want to take credit for it? lol. I set up a temp course for the kids today, and I finished setting up early so I decided to play a round. I SHOULD have shot a -13 for 13 hole course, but I par'd 2 holes, 10 birdies, and 1 ACE for a -12. Now, the reason why I wouldn't really want to take credit for it? The hole was only 60 feet ;) All of the holes were between 50 and 90 feet long, and it was almost too long with the Frisbees these kids were given to throw today! Ah well :)
The ace was on hole #7 with Aaron Scott's M-14 basket. I threw my Gateway Wizard to nail the ace.
Hit #4 at Willow Stream today from the concrete tee with a S JLS.
Got #7 today at Willow Stream again. Threw a KC Pro Roc anhyzer over the path and it flattened out right into the basket.
nice shot roman. why couldn't u have aced it in leagues last week? :D
How much is in the ace Fund @ B.G. now?
I think the ace fund was up to $42 this past Monday.
Dan, I play best when I'm relaxed. There's no relaxing in doubles with people counting on you to make a throw ;)
Kelsey got her first sanctioned tournament ace in Alabama on Saturday. I heard it but did not see it. 150 T-Bird on a 200 foot hole. Not sure why she did not throw the Buzzz. She bought dinner with part of the ace pool money, so I'm glad she threw the T-Bird.
I just got my 41st ace hole 15 on the blue course at lemon lake 345 feet
Kelsey aced #7 at Holly Woods tonight. It is a 250 foot slightly uphill hyzer hole. She landed 20 feet short of the basket and aced it on a skip. Afterwards we worked on weeding stickers for dying discs while we sat in the parking lot. We had one customer after another. We then spent some of the profits at Frosty Boy. On the way home we stopped to look at the new Saturn sports car.
All the time, where ever I am, I pick up trash and throw it out. A scrap of paper blew across the parking lot and wrapped itself on the toe of my shoe. I bent over and picked it up. Never having seen one of these before, at first I didn't know what it was. It was a ten-play ticket for tonight's Mega Millions drawing. How weird is that? If I win the big prize, we'll give away a Saturn at the Illinois Open.
Update: Does not look like I won anything other than maybe a buck. The Fates tease. :P

Hit hole F yesterday on Hudson Mills Monster longs during the tourney. Too bad I had to split the ace pool with someone, but $135 is still money in my pocket! 330 feet turnover with a champ sidewinder.
I aced #3 Short-short at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Sunday. It was not that much of an ace, a 154 foot line drive in the woods. You pretty much had to throw a line drive to get near the basket. There was a big rock before the basket so you had to get over it to get close. Soft Banger. I won $1 and a Floppy Flyer for it, too. ;D
The ace was part of a run where I birdied seven of the last nine holes and shot an unofficial 1011 rated round. Don't wake me up yet. ;D

That's a good ace. If you overshoot that to the right, you could get a bogie trying to get out of that schule.
Thanks, yea it was pretty much the perfect shot (obviously since it went in) but if you look at my round ratings for the tourney, you can see why I was running everything round 2.

u beat Joe Mela for that round. However he still edged you by 30 shots for the tourney.
Yeah, that's the difference between one 1000 rated round and four of them!
Hit #7 at Jericho tonite while warming up for league (of course not during where there is money on the line). Took a line drive down the left side of the fairway below the tree line and it skipped right in.
Hey Bruce, what did you think of the Indiana course? Did you get a chance to play any of the other awesome courses near Pittsburgh? (Moraine, Knob Hill, or Deer Lakes) Probably my three favorite courses right there. I haven't yet had a chance to play the Indiana course but I hear great things. I got down to Peoria this past weekend and played McNaughton for the first time. After playing the courses out east it just doesn't compare :-\. That's what we get in the Midwest I guess. I do look forward to seeing whether you can post any 1000 rated rounds at the IOS this year. :-D

Aced Hole #9 from the short tee at UW-Parkside yesterday with an Aviar.
I think the hole is about 215'. I had been playing the long tees up until this hole. There were two guys playing behind me that were throwing on me the previous two holes so I thought I would move ahead of them by playing the short tee and moving on into the woods. Grabbed the disc, did a quick two step approach and let it go.
Starting to figure this game out: Don't Think. Just Throw!
that certainly helps keep you moving in front of that group, nicely done :)
Finally hit #3 at Willow Stream. That hole is so short, and it seems to be every beginner in the world has hit it. I've been playing the course for almost 10 years now and it took me this long. Clean hit with a glow Wizard, no tree play ;)
Hit #15 at Jericho Lake today with a FLX buzzz while playing a 35 minute speed round that I shot a 12 under at with just the buzz and a putter!
Wow nice round! Shorts I'm guessing?
Yeah, I'm still working on the 350 foot buzzz shot, I'm saving it for worlds!

I had just tee'd off on 15, when I see this guy run through the casual group behind me, putt out on 14, and take the tee. It looked like he was in a hurry, so I offered to let him play through, and stood next to the pine trees about the middle of the fairway to watch. The throw sailed in a perfect curved arc, pretty high, right into the basket. Then he lets out a single 'woo-hoo', runs by, grabs his disc, and keeps going. Well done!

Nice ace! I've been playing that course for 17 years and have never hit #3. The reason...I don't aim for the basket! I throw a straight shot that's going to hit the ground to the right and in front of the basket (pretty much just to the right of the guardian tree). I would have to miss my landing zone by a LOT in order to get an ace on 3! I used to aim for the basket on that hole but I wound up hitting the guardian tree too many times and getting a 3.
I've actually only aced 7 and old 9 at Willow Stream. I've aced 7 multiple times. I've hit the basket on 6 too many times to remember. I've gone full chain on 4 several times but they never dropped. I hit the basket on 5 once. I hit the basket on 2 once and it took a huge chunk out of my disc! 1 and 8 are out of my range for aces but I've deuced 8 a few times...never deuced hole 1.
I gave up trying to ace 3 years ago myself. I usually aim at the bush on the very right that's guarding the tee on 4, and let the disc fade out towards the basket. This time there was a slight right-left wind and it gave the disc the extra push it needed, I guess.
I hit 6 only twice on that course... But it was on the same day, back to back rounds. My first ace ever was on hole 4 there. My buddy Kyle chained out on hole 8 last year. That was a crazy throw. Too bad it didn't stick.

Well done!
Thanks for letting me play through, you still get an assist on that one Rick!
The Aceman hasn't Cometh to me since Pennsylvania so I went looking for him at one of the places he is easy to find. Auburn Hills Civic Center Park. One of the five shortest permanent basket courses on the planet, last I knew.
We played four rounds of nine. They replaced the missing basket so these rounds counted for record attempting purposes. The round where I aced I missed tying the course record because a fifteen foot gimme hit the gathering ring and came right back at me. In the third round Kira and I were standing on the last tee, tied at 16. I'd say tied at minus 8, but these are all par 2 holes! Both of our ace runs went high and we both missed our come back putts.
Hole 5, 73 feet. ::) Almost doesn't count as an ace. I just wanted Jon to know we were out shooting for his course record. I tied it once with a two-ace round.
Kiralyn says she really enjoys playing for the record there because every throw is critical. Half the holes you have to park the basket and half the holes you have to run the basket and make the comeback. It's like playing pro, she says.
The club invitational saw 4 aces (on 4 different holes). Each lucky player brought in $15.50
Got my first Ace on hole 3 at Round Lake Doubles on 9/20/08.
I threw a teebird with about 80% power and it was a thing of beauty the way it blew up the chains!
What's funny is that it was only around 15 minutes after someone else hit it on the same hole. We split $15 hahaha
my brother got hole 7 at orland park doogan 175 ft
lefty hyzer putter
i made a valiant effort to hit back to back but
xd ended about 15 ft past
never up never in
I believe I've used all my aces up for the next ten years. I got two in one round at Fairfield during the final day of the IOS. Holes 7 & 13, both blind shots. The first one I couldn't believe it, it was our second hole of the first round. 6 holes later SLAM. I don't know the odds of that happening, but my last ace was about 5 years ago. I think my odds of getting another for a while is slim to none. Hopefully I'm wrong. They were also my first tournament aces ever. All of my others (4) have come in casual rounds with friends. Took $88 from the ace pool. (one other was hit. hole 15 blind as well.)
Today @ Parkside West Hole 8 ^_^
Kyle- I made a copy of the score card and have the original for you.

Do you mean the original course? That's a nice ace if so.
If you mean the "Disc Eater" course, that might be the first ace on that course. I haven't heard of any others.

Yes, the original course. It was a slight hyzer with a roc and it found its way through the gardian trees.

Nice Kyle! Good to see the course work karma actually working! 2 in one round? Awesome!!!
We played four rounds at Squirrel today trying to break Jon's record. I hit metal seven times. I had 35 twos and one ace, so I tied it anyway, and was shooting for the tie or the win every time on the 9th hole.
Hole 4. 70 feet. Soft Magnet.
Hole 3, short, Richmond Hills, Geneseo.

Nice shot, Kurt! I kinda forget the numbering @ Geneseo since they (I think permanently) took out the short #2 alongside the barn. Is #3 the downhill to the right shot now?
Didn't know you were doing a QC tour this weekend. My son, nephew & I played Prospect in Moline Friday morning. Managed to avoid any birds this time...

#6 (I think) had a large downed tree almost completely covering the basket - I wonder if that's been there since that storm last summer....
Yeah that tree around 6s basket has been there since that storm this past summer. the tree fell all around the basket but there seems to be no damage to the basket itself. i think its actually fun to try and put through all the limbs to the basket. 18s basket actually came out of the ground there and was just put back in about a month ago.
Quote from: damonshort on November 30, 2008, 11:26:35 AMIs #3 the downhill to the right shot now?
This is the first time we played Geneseo, and the early hole numbering is a little messed up, I think. We played #2 from a spray painted tee, marked on the asphalt by the barn to a wheelie basket strapped to a stump. We played #3 from a concrete pad perpendicular to the asphalt out (west) to a basket marked #2 that was 240' out. Does it still count? :)
We all took the day off Friday. My wife went downtown (shudder), and my youngest had other plans, so my oldest and I made an impromptu trip west. It worked out well. Great day to play, as you know!

that sounds like the original #3 before they took out #2, which apparently they've put back, sort of. Teepad next to a little gazebo, unless that's gone too. That big tree guarding the basket would make a pretty impressive ace... unless *that* tree is gone too.
I should've taken a pic of #6 at Prospect. It's pretty amazing that the basket seems intact!
Congrats, Kurt! Sounds like a fun time!
For the first time ever, Diana was throwing on hole 9 to tie Jon's course record at Squirrel today. She missed the ace and took a 2. Earlier in the round she aced #4 with a Wizard.
Hit my 13th, June 13th at the 25th Circus City Open. Hole #8 246 feet, with a Roc ( of course, 6 of 13 with Rocs ) Came in the 2nd round, which was the 1 STROKE I won the tournament by. I led after round 1, -15 to -14. The guy who shot -14, birdied the first 6 holes in round 2, to my lame 2. After the ACE I was only at -4. After 18, he led -11 to -8, but the 7 alternates ( yes 25 holes, marked the 25th anniversary) I got all 7, he only managed 4. What a GREAT day ;D, then win, and split the ACE FUND($160.00) 4 ways.
I don't really count Squirrel aces when I'm remembering my aces. If you asked me, I'd say the Harbin Rat was my last ace. Still, I think I'll remember three in a round for a bit:

I think you held the record for about 15 years. And it not like I wasn't trying to break your record all those years. It just comes down to making 2 putts out of 8 from 60 to 150 feet away and not three putting!

Wow congrats. I am still waiting for my first ace. How long had you been playing before you got it today. Like years experience.
I really started playing July 4th 2007 with my dad while we were waiting for the fireworks to start.
I had thrown a disc a few times before that, but never thought much of it.

Finally got the one I have been wanting for years this morning. #18 out at Eagle Ridge at bag tags this morning. Last throw of the round. Nuthin but sweet spot and a nice payday of $146. First ace that paid out anything. After the round our club president, Blaine aced hole #1 on a CTP shot. 2 aces in about a 10 minute span! Awesome!

I thought Jon might enjoy this blast from the past. :wav:

Hit #15 today, and it was XTRA special. Came in my last round before the cut for semifinals at Worlds. Hole #4 at Shawnee Mission. 300' blind anhyzer uphill. Hit it with a Pro Line Orc. Longest out of all my 15!
Ace # 2 came in for me today at grayslake hole 9. Hyzer with a wraith ;D
9-2-09- Aced #1 at Fox River Park in Ottawa with a Buzzz (2nd First Run- Thanks Taylor!) (((practice throw)))
9-3-09-. Aced #14 at Trinity Links in Lockport with same Buzzz
9-5-09- Aced # 4 at Channahon with a Star Firebird. Threw the spike hyzer and It barely touched the chains.
I didn't see it. But I heard it. At the Northwoods Open @ Sandy Point Resort on the 24th hole there was an Ace. If you haven't been to Sandy Point the 24th hole is a 337 foot hole that runs along the edge of the lake and the basket sits on a peninsula that juts out with a creek on the backside of the basket. If you throw backhand the disc is out over the water for about 95 percent of the time.
On Sundays the AMs play in the morning and the pros play in the afternoon. Not everyone sticks around to watch the pros, but there usually is a pretty good crowd that sticks around. And the majority of those that stick around go down to the lake and check out hole number 24.
Again, I didn't see it, as I was spotting on the other side of the resort. But I did hear the biggest roar that I have ever heard on a disc golf course. Jon Drummond aced hole #24 with about 150 people watching. I heard when he went to get his disc the crowd lined up along the shore and he high fived everyone. I would have liked to have seen the shot, but just to hear the roar was pretty exciting.
Jon did not get into the ace pool....

Thanks!- That,s right its at fairfeild! I'd love to get an ace there! I'll go there tomorrow to practice!
I couldn't make this up if I tried.
About 6 weeks ago, I got a call from a guy who'd found a Ch Sidewinder of mine while playing. I thought it was maybe the SW I'd left on the ground @ Parkside while practicing for Prairie Open. Turns out it was *another* SW I'd just bought as a replacement, and I'd left on the ground at Lombard the day before he called. I hadn't even realized I'd left it there (lots of brain cramps this season.)
Turns out he lives right by Jericho in Aurora and said he'd hang onto it for me. Made arrangements to pick it up at his house today after a round w/ Barish and Mukey. Halfway up the fairway on #6 a car pulls up. It's "Dan" with my disc!!
After profuse appreciation is extended, we continue on w/ our round. We come up to #10 (shorts) and I decide to pull it out for the first time.
David called it about halfway out. Ace. 210-220 or so, I guess, there's no pole there at the moment.
It almost got even better as on the next hole David got metal and Mukey went right over the top.
I may not throw that disc again, but I sure won't leave it on the ground again! I put it in the car for the 2nd round, and the 'replacement' almost went in on #5....
I like Sidewinders.
Twice this month.
March 6, 2010. Kensington Black Locust. Hole 5 (Old Kensington Tunnel F). About 225 feet. Cryztal Buzzz with Forest City Frenzy hot stamp. Kira and Diana witnessed it.
March 31, 2010. Holly State Recreation Area. Hole 23 (Old 17). About 225 feet. Cryztal Buzzz with Forest City Frenzy hot stamp. Kelsey, Kira, Diana and Sara witnessed it.
The first one was a good throw. It was settling and would have only been ten or 15 feet past. The second was a horrible throw. It was hyzering in hot and would have skipped big like Kira's drive, except it hit chains and the post.

Hah hah, you guys started racking them up quick ;) When I played a few weeks ago there were no aces yet.
I just realized I was 7 down on that front 9 (213323222). Then it was getting dark so I went home. If I had known, I would've kept playing to see how it would've ended up. Probably a lost disc or two.

So Bruce just reminded me of a question I've been wanting to ask, what the heck does "one time" even mean?
I believe it is a derivative from the slang term for police. A person would say "one time" which would mean "I've seen the police so no one else look." Because more than one person looking would attract attention. Then it just became something to say when you're the first to see something.
I always thought of it as meaning, "get lucky" I often hear myself saying it on a long jump putt. one time, cause it usually dont go in.

I have a feeling that's why it has caught on. But it means whatever people think it means. Often a term or phrase changes meaning as it gets popular. For instance "Starr par" was used in leagues at Starr park to mean everyone got a 2 on the card. Reasoning was that Starr park was an old course designed for Frisbees so a 2 was the expected score or "par". Those players started using the term at other leagues and tournaments when everyone carded a two. Star par rhymes and caught on and used even by players who had never heard of the course. As the years went by the course was removed and the popularity of the term grew beyond its origins and the meaning changed to everyone carded an actual par of 3.
At the Tobbogan, when everyone gets a 4 on a par four hole Isay, "Scar par?" ;D
Hole 13 Long at The Ponds of Lakeshore. 310 feet. ESP Surge. $110 ace pool.
Hole 13 is 300 feet over o.b. but only about 270 feet to clear the pond. To be in bounds you have to be over the rock wall on the far side, which today was 30 feet past the water's edge. I was mainly just trying to be well over the wall with a comeback putt for birdie. The chains stopped that plan at 1.
Kelsey Brakel. Hole 8 Short, Rolling Hills. About 200 feet. ESP Meteor. $54 Ace Pool.
Hole 8 is a little blind turn over shot down a narrow tunnel. Kelsey went on to post a win in MA2.
Normally Kelsey and I are both a little nonchalant about ace pools. This weekend we both felt overdue and that it was really important to get in.

I saw the pic on facebook. Congrats!!!
I don't ace that often but I happened to get one yesterday and another one today so I'm pretty excited.
Yesterday I hit hole 1 at Winthrop Gold with a freshly bought Eagle on a skip shot. Just purchased it at the pro shop and went out to throw hole 1 to see how it flew.
Today I hit hole 11 at Nevin with a Roc on the fly. Blind basket. I heard lots of chains and ran up hoping it stuck, and it did.
Sweet Roman! Funny story about hole 11 at Nevin - during worlds, I threw a shot with a red Leopard that went in a little early and crashed into the brush. A white disc rolled out. Haven't seen that before!
Sweet ace story Romon! I bet the test drive made you feel good about the purchase.
Interesting Ace story from yesterday.
I aced Hole 2 at Red Fox, right hand-forehand with a friends Flick. First blind ace for me, I followed standard procedure of giddily running over the hill while praying that it stuck.
Later in the day after returning the Ace disc to the friend whom i borrowed it from, he used it on Hole 5 Grey fox and got a left hand-Forehand Skip Ace!!
Same disc, same day, 2 people, 2 aces.

Kiralyn scored her first ace on a serious course at Birchfield last Saturday. Hole 4, 268 feet. Short tee to short basket. The guys on the next tee saw it and cheered loudly. Kira cheered somewhat less since she and Kelsey were playing to the long baskets. O0

So, what color is that one? I always thought a black ace was when it goes into a different hole's basket. ^_^ Assuming its basically the same line, Congrats Kira!
I don't know whether black aces are limited to aces on baskets on other holes or if black aces include an ace on the wrong basket when a hole has more than one basket. But they wrote "Black ace!" on the scorecard.
Hole #9 at Adler with a Star Teebird on Friday the 13th. >:D
That is career Ace #5 for me. I believe my last one was in 2011....so it's been a while.
Have not been around the boards for a while now but still getting out and playing. Had my first ace on Sept.5 at Shorewood park in Shorewood Il... Hole 7 229ft right along the road. Threw it just like i imagined slight hyzer over the road landing about 5 feet in front of the basket with the perfect skip in with my brand new dynamic disc suspect .
Today at Squirrel (Auburn Hills)
On this palindromic date
Diana demonstrated skills
Acing basket number eight.
138 feet. Soft APX.
Me, at Squirrel, because Diana needs to work on upshots.
#2, a 122 foot hyzer shot with a ten year old soft Magnet.
Squirrel aces are somewhat cheap, like Cubby aces, but somewhat legit, because we play the course like its a course, and we don't count practice shots as aces. I shot a 35 for 18 holes, 17 deuces and an ace.
Lincolnwood #3 - about 190', Titatium Wasp.
Even less impressive is the fact that the course has lost a lot of trees to the Ash Borer, so ALL of the guardian trees on what used to be an attractive but still easy hole are gone. My shot probably would have hit at least one of them.
