Anyone planning on heading to this one?
Carla and I plan to make our first appearance at Homie and are looking for recommendations for a place to stay close to the courses/park.
Thanks.
Sergio
Definitely heading there, it's on my list every year now. I would recommend staying in Merrillville, it's a short drive to the course and a few of the places are pretty cheap too (while not also being crappy).

I think I stayed at the Super 8 or Red Roof last year.
Sunday, Sunday? one day or two?
Saturday there are normally doubles and Sunday is the tourney.
I think I have to miss HOMIE for the 2nd year in a row. Sundays are hell for me to get off work.
Is there any on-line pre-reg for this event?

Yes. I just signed up via PDGA signup on the PDGA website. There is an icon next to the tournament listing. It was going to either be Homie or Bloomington for me and my schedule worked out better for Homie. I was hoping to play Brett's tournament. Oh well. Homie is always a great tournament. Hopefully most players can do both.
dang i JUST dropped the check in the mail
for 4 of us
There was a little confusion last night at RL dubs wether or not the doubles on saturday was bring your own partner or not can anyone clear this up? And maybe and enrty fee price? Nothing on red roc sight
gotta miss this one, going to the river city rumbles in davenport that day. there is an ace race in kirkland that day also.
Pre reg is up and going... just signed up nothin like leamon lake in the fall....
is there going to be doubles on sat?
any info
call Brian C
I didn't ask about the doubles but I did email him about which courses are being played. He responded very quickly. I'd recommend sending the email/calling as airspuds mentioned.
FYI: Advanced/Pro play Blue and Silver courses.
Never played here before so that was my question to him so I knew which to practice on Saturday.

Just booked at the Red Roof in Merrillville for $49 (would have saved $5 if I would have said 1 adult instead of 2 ;) )

Are those courses for Sunday? Brian Cummings sent the information about Blue/Silver courses for Advanced/Pro.
Hi Brett,
The courses played will be determined by the turn-out. Pro and advanced
will probably play the silver and blue and the rest will go to red and
blue...probably...
Contact me with any questions and I will provide prompt answers.

yes bart i have a question
thread drift
how the heck do u leave good discs on the course ?
2 of bz discs found on hole 2 blue
must be night driving
side note
had tire issue at Lemon Lake yesterday and Dan from the L L crew
lent us a wrench to help change the tire
i had the tire iron but the tire iron did not fit the locking lug nut key
dan lent us a wrench and saved the day
fortunately for us there is a tire shop down the road from the course
7 bucks and a new valve stem and we were back at the course with lunch
with time for the second round
front nine blue 1 over
back nine blue 11 over
red +5
the group of us did not play all that well
see u on sunday
I wonder how much the turnout is going to be affected by the PDGA site being down.
Anyone looking for a doubles partner for Saturday? Tate is bringing another guy from Kzoo and he doesn't have a partner. I don't know the guy but Tate said he's rated around 930 and that's MI 930. Let me know ASAP please!

Okay what is MI 930? Why don't you join the California/Texas/North Carolina thread.
Link?
Saturday random draw or bring your own partner?

When the pdga site is back and running I will pass it along.
Just a joke Tom, I know what you are talking about. I retract my comment I guess, but that's just how it is in the land of Chuck Kennedy.
Memorial disc golf tournament draws nearly 200

CEDAR LAKE | Upon returning from the disc golf tournaments he participated in, Matt "Homie" Lovasko sometimes reported things didn't "fly" as well as they should have.
"At times he remarked that they didn't do this, or didn't have this for the golfers," Matt's mother Charlene said. "Most often he complained about the lack of food and beverages at the course, and that they had to travel out of their way for a fast-food lunch."
If only Matt were alive today, for he surely would have preferred the "Homie Cooking" that graced the memorial disc golf tournament that bears his name.
"We feed them twice ... for lunch and dinner," said Matt's step-father and Charlene's husband Jim Donovan, who was preparing a big vat of fire-grilled Italian beef for the nearly 200 participants of the sixth-annual Homie's Fall Classic that took place Oct. 12 at Lemon Lake Park.
"I don't disc golf," Donovan said. "I just do the cooking. This is a big event for the area, and it keeps getting bigger."
Lovasko was one of the top amateur disc golfers in the nation, and was on the verge of turning pro before an apartment fire claimed the Munster native's life in September of 2001.
"When he was alive, Matt always brought people together," said avid disc golfer Chris Diamond, who was unable to participate in the tournament due to a knee injury, yet assisted with the organization.
"A lot of people from around the country travel long distances to be here," Diamond said. "It's a great tribute."
Originally, the memorial tournament took place on Mother's Day of 2002 at a rain-swept Riverside Park in Hammond. Later, it was moved to the fall and relocated at Lemon Lake, which now has a Red, Blue, Silver and Gold course, as well as a nine-hole miniature course.
"It's become one of the best courses around," said Crown Point resident Kathy Bundy, whose husband David was Matt's doubles partner.
Though Charlene considers this time of the year "bittersweet" as Matt's birthday was earlier in the week ("He would have been 30," she said.), the generation range of the tourney's participants raises here spirits.
"You see the past, present and future of the sport," she said. "It was something Matt loved to do, and I knew he was doing it with the right crowd.
"I gave a speech at the start, and I mentioned the tornado, the flooding and all the other stuff that has gone on this year. But the worst of times can bring out the best in people. Matt died eight days after 9-11. It was a terrible time for everyone. Now when I see all these people come out and come together because of Matt ... it's wonderful to watch."
