Leagues at Bevier on Sunday, with a little course work to follow.  Sign up at 9:55. Tee off at 10:00 AM. The course is looking good.

A few more small additions will make this course shine.

Not sure If i'll get much play time in but I'm headed out to Vegas.  Gonna slide by the Halloween tournament & pick up a disc while I'm there, maybe play an ancilliary event if there running them during the day I stop by.  Oh yeah & I'm getting married on Sunday on the strip!

The Pro Halloween Howler is this weekend at Dretzka on Saturday afternoon / evening.  Mark "the Shark" Peterson runs the event but I thought I'd throw it out there to let everyone know about it.

He had close to 100 people out there this past Saturday so I guess it was a popular event.  Here is the exact link:

http://gldgc.com/howler.htm

I'm working on something that MIGHT happen next weekend but we'll see.  Obviously there is the Cold Turkey III at Brown Deer but that's not until November 29th - update to that thread coming in a minute.

I'm taking a stab at playing in Texas at the Veterans Park Open in Arlington this weekend.  Sounds like a nice warm weekend.  I tried practicing this morning and had to wipe ice off my discs   :o   I don't think I'm ready for winter yet.   ;D

Is anybody playing the tournament in Goshen tomorrow?

I'm trying to decide between Goshen, Parmalee and Englewood.  The Englewood course sounds nice.  It's new.  The Parmalee course is lame.  I haven't played Goshen in so long i can no longer remember it.

The amateur value at all these tournaments will probably be mediocre to sucky.

I could stay home and get a good post-season funk going.  That's the other option.   ;D

That's exactly where I'm at Bruce :)

My wife and I are car shopping tomorrow instead of me disc golfing.  My car will break the 200,000 mile marker on the odometer shortly before we pull in to the dealer where we're looking for a *gasp* mini-van!

It's a very quiet couple of months for PDGA tournaments in Illinois - although I would expect there to still be a good showing at Oly Fields.

The tournament is on Sunday, but I will be in Goshen tomorrow as well.

It actually is pretty well run. Two years ago the value was good, last year not as much. Last year the TD got in TWO car accidents the day before though and things were a bit rushed because of it. Free lunch is there with a trash can stew (bring some flavor ingredients to be safe).

Ox Bow is a fun course, this will be my third year there.

I plan on Oly tomorrow and Goshen on Sunday.  Taylor - please provide your definition of fun.  Ox Bow is a very tough and challenging course. I didn't have much fun the last time I played there. Maybe this year will be better, and hopefully the weather won't be too miserable.

[drift] I changed from a full size conversion van to a mini-van one year ago.  I hate it.  Gas prices forced me into it, but I may go back anyway. [/drift]

Tom, if it wasn't fun last year then why go back?  Sunday weather 39 high with rain/snow mix 40%.  Sounds like fun!!!!!!  I guess if you don't have fun its only a 3 hour car ride and $60 in gas plus a $30 entry.  Nothing like throwing away a Sunday and 100 bucks.

If it was an hour away it'd be worth it, but seriously, sometimes you gotta know when to sit one out.  I don't want you becoming the next Steve Slater...51 tourneys then 0 tourneys.

Good question Tom. I think maybe because I enjoy the weekend away, 2 days of disc golf and I normally play fairly well there. That probably adds to why I think it's a fun course, but more so I think it's just because it has a nice mixture of shots and it's tough, but in a fair way except for a few holes. I don't excel at my putting and it costs me a lot of strokes in tournaments. If I drive well at Ox Bow, I don't have to putt as well! :)

The weather was what was making me think about Englewood.  It's supposed to 50 degrees down there and only a chance of a shower.

But getting a start on the post-season funk is looking inviting too.

Kelsey and Kira were always gung-ho for a road trip to somewhere different, camping in the van, playing in crappy weather, getting lost on the way home.  Diana, not so much.

The weather, which does not look good, is not the excuse. My daughter's soccer team has its last two games this weekend.  I will be spending Saturday afternoon watching a soccer game in Palatine.  If its not horrible I might try to get to the 9 hole course there.  There is another soccer game in Evanston on Sunday morning.  I might blow it off to go to league at Bevier.  Otherwise, I will get to whatever crappy course is nearby (Fink) after the game.

speaking of Fink I drilled hole one the other night, splashed right out then hit off the cage the second round. I really wanted to nail that ace. I've hit 4 with that buzzz this season so far.  >:D

Diana and I played Kensington.  It was cold and windy and neither of us shot anything to brag about.  It was sunny for a few holes and we met up with an old friend on hole 12.  It was a far better time than any tournament we could have gone to, considering how we were playing.  We're going to go spend our saved entry fees at the Eastern Pearl tonight.   ;D

The Kensington redesign is going to be better than the course is now.

While we were out there I decided to give Renewal School a shot if I can drive a hard bargain with the PDGA.
