Title: Ebay scam
Post by: myndcraft on July 15, 2003, 07:51:51 PM
If your using ebay, beware there is a new scam going around. The scam involves reciving a spoofed email that appears to be from ebay requesting you to verify/enter account info.

The link in your email appears as http://cgi3.ebay%20.com:aw-cgieBayI...e1a/3bay_ver4a/ (//%22http://cgi3.ebay%20.com:aw-cgieBayISAPI.dllSignInRegisterEnterInfo&siteid=0co_partnerid=%20%202@198.173.251.33/4line1a/3bay_ver4a/%22)

This sends you to a very cleverly spoofed page hosted at http://www.migane.com/

So if you enter that info it aint going to you! Can we say identity theft? Credit Fraud??

The proper people have been informed, but these things can and do happen all the time. So always verify the integrity of such requests.

There's one floating around that looks like it's from Best Buy, too

I got an email from 'Best Buy' a few weeks ago that smelled funny; since then that particular scam seems to have been shut down.
