Title: Winter Disc Golf
Post by: Kent Hengels on December 20, 2008, 09:06:51 AM
This being my first winter discin' in Ill-nois, I'm not sure where the best winter disc golf spots are.  When I lived in MinneSNOWta, my home course at St. Mary's was always prepared for the winter discin'.  The tee pads were cleared, their was countless foottracks in the snow, matting it down and packing it tight, the ice was salted and melted, and after we teed off on the 500ft. downhill bluff hole, we'd throw a few discs under our butts and slide down to the pin.

I'm starting to get the itch.  I went out to clark park in Elk Grove yesterday and it's very playable, but no preparations have been made for safe discin' (under the foot or so of snow on the teepad, they are completed covered in ice.  WATCH FOR HOLE 2, I WIPED OUT TWICE, AND SO DID MY BUDDY).  So I'm wondering if there are any courses in the area (Schaumburg, Streamwood area) that are discin' ready, or hell, even a course where I might find other winter discers to huck with.  I seems like the start of a looooooooong winter; I can't make it til next spring without some solid discin somewhere.

I played with the FVMDGC today at Jericho in Aurora and it was a blast. It's worth the drive if you are coming from that area.  I usually play Madison Meadows in Lombard however, you dont see too many people this time of year, except ME!

How long of a drive would you  say it was from Lombard's course to Summit? Looking for a new couirse to play that's stlll relatively close.

it's about a 20-25 minute hike.  when you turn by the light in the park area, stay to the left.  the first hole is on the right hand side when the the trees began.  there is a practice basket outside of the woods just before the pool.  if you intended to play all the holes you will need a map.  it's hard to navigate.

That's because you can't do any OvEr HaNd AsSasSiNating there.
