I sent in the sanctioning money for this.  I'll try to get the sanctioning request done soon.  Maybe while the letters are drying on the trophy discs.  Meanwhile I have not been home on a weekend for a month and the lawn is getting a little long...

I'm ready.  It's going to take me an extra hour to get there from my new house, but I'll be there.  Bring your A-game, Mr. Barish.  I hope to be bringing mine as well!

If you want to spend Pitner's funny money at IOS 4, we'll take it.  I think I will have four discs he doesn't, unless he rushed out and bought Spectras!   ::)

Somehow I fear that any escalation of trash talking for the Novice crown will only serve as a source of hilarity for the rest of the field.  All I can say is that I will be there. Heaven knows where my discs might land.  I guess its win/ win for you. If I can't find those discs you will be there to sell me some more.  Hey, am I being set up here?  ;D

Bruce is your friendly neighborhood merch man at Round Lake, so I'll be playing and contending for that IOS Novice Crown :)  I just need a field of at least 13, stan to move up, and to do 3 better than you, something like that... oh yeah, i need to win if it's a field of only 13 too *eep!*

I won the Novice series one year going into Round Lake because there weren't enough players for anyone else to catch me. Dave, Scott, there's a chance I might be joining you in MA4 in September. We'll see how things shake out when ratings are updated next week.

Scott, your needs are quite complex and beyond my comprehension. Mine are more simple. I need to throw it in the fairway and make my putts.  I do not know how the prospect of having Bagger Vance, er, Krupicka join our little ghetto, will effect the mathmatics of it all.  I look to you, as always, for guidance.  In any case, I am sure we will have plenty of laughs Saturday afternoon. Hopfefully not too many of them will be at either of our expense. Cheers.

The first little box of IOS 4 merch arrived today.

Of interest, I received 10 177 gm 2008 Worlds FLX Drones.  If anyone wants to reserve a 2008 Worlds FLX Drone for their player pack, just holler.

I also have 10 175 gm Millenium Super Soft Omegas.  With the release of the R-Pro Aviar these are basically redundant, unless the R-Pro is a Big Bead.  These are beadless or small bead.  They are the Aviar mold where you can see a bead line but there really isn't a bead.

I'm seeing some Swirl APX misprints in here, but you'll have to negotiate with Kira for those.

I have a nice white 149 Flick and and 150 Champ Sidewinder, 150 Champ Valk and 150 Star T-Bird.  Diana Kira and Kelsey get as many of these as they actually want and will throw.

After throwing the 150 R-Pro Boss I think I'm turning Japanese (I really think so) and would like to try a 150 Champ Valk if the Brakelettes will let one pass through their hands.

Looks like 150 Champ Valks are in stock.  The 150 Champ T-Bird is another nice 150 driver.

I just put in my order with Discraft, but it is not too late to add stuff.  What did you want in FLX Buzzzes?

This tournament hotstamp will say "Fairfield Farewell" on top and "Drive Long and Prosper" on the bottom.

Well I got a 176g FLX Buzzz that I love from you. Now I was looking to try one a little lighter (167-171g) for driving purposes.

Why isn't this tournament on the PDGA schedule yet?  Less than four weeks to go.

If this is a PDGA problem, please provide a contact that we can send complaints to.

It should go up this week. Karolyn was not in the office last week. Not sure how long ago Bruce sent it in but it probably wasn't more than a couple of weeks ago.

yes, Karolyn got married - in Elk Grove Village, IL of all places.  She was conveniently gone while I had some urgent stuff that needed to be addressed a couple months back, and they mention this information (and wedding location) in the latest PDGA disc golf magazine.  I believe that section also mentioned Serg :)

Is there going to be roped off OB splitting 12 and 18's fairways? Also is 18 going to play the full length?
I remember a couple years back it was split up?

O.B. is not my call.  I like to split 12 from 18 but I defer to whatever Jon and Brett want.  We are likely to rope off the swamp on 12.  We might make an island hole or an o.b. "pond" on 11A, especially if we don't split 12 from 18.

We have never split 18 into two holes, as far as my limited memory can recall.  It may have been done at a non-IOS.  I will defer to Brett's better memory.

Brett is in charge of course design and routing for the simple reason that he is good at it...it helps that he is also willing and able to do it! I think it would be cool to see a basket on a picnic table out there...but that would mean hauling a basket and a picnic table out there.

I recall 18 being split into two holes but I don't remember what tournament it was.

Its actually a new division called Pro Intermediate.  Qualifying for this division is a complicated process, needless to say it takes a firm, long-term committment to mediocre disc golf.  If you've ever thrown a drive that almost hit yourself in the foot, then you might qualify.

Got my Saturday Reg in today.  Will reg for Sunday on Saturday.
I'm remembering this course from last year when I came in 40th out of 41 players in Intermediate.(I beat a lady who is currently rated the same as me)  I will do better this year by 15 strokes is my goal.  I have more D and better accuracy.  I make better decisions on disc selection than last year, and my mental game is better.

I'm getting stoked.   Now I have to go out and practice my putting....wish me luck.

I just updated the registrations that came in this morning. Weather looks great.

There should be players there.
2008-> 166 players
2007-> 158 players
2006-> 162 players
2005-> 140 players

Chris Jordan & Jamie Blough have spent the last 2 days doing some work on the course. They picked up a lot of garbage and have painted a few 10 meter circles. Thanks guys!

When you are not a current member, typically only TDs have access to your rating. If you go back and look at the results for Crystal Lake, click on show ratings. You can get an idea of roughly where you are rated. MA3 is on Sunday. You can still play on Saturday, but in MA2. One other option is to become a PDGA member on Saturday. If you do this, not only will your PDGA membership carry over until next year, but I think you will be allowed to play MA4 as you will be a member without an official rating.

Mike is correct. However, feel free to join the PDGA online and save us some paper work!  ;) So, the only way to play MA4 this weekend is to join the PDGA. If Saturday is the only day that you can play you can play MA2. If you signed up for full fee you may drop down to trophy only if you want to.

Wow thanks for the help and fast responses that's awsome u guys r really helpful. Well this is my first year competing and I was hoping to finish the year as novice and continue to advance next year. but I don't want to be viewed as a bagger so id like ur honest oppinion what u think I should play in.  Also my friends r competing in novice and they r my ride. So I think my only real options are register pdga and play novice or play ma2. If I registered pdga would I be able to get that $10.50 back for non-pdga tourny? Or would u even mind applying that to my player pack? Again thanks for ur help.

You can get the $10 back if you join. If you want to join it is completely legitimate to play MA4. If you don't want to join then I'd suggest playing MA2 trophy only.

Hey guys,

I registered last night for MA3, Kevin McGonigal 41123.
I don't see my name on the list, but my buddy who registered this morning is already there.
I just joined the PDGA this past weekend (maybe this is the problem).
I would rather straighten this out now vs. Sunday morning.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

We were a little short handed at Fairfield.  I think people tend to overlook the contributions of the women and girls, but when they are not there to do all the things they do, there is a lot less time at the tournament to type in the names and PDGA numbers of all of the players.

I'm planning on doing it during lunch today. Brought the cards with me! I'm on a conference call right now but my part is coming up in a few minutes. I apologize about the delay. When I don't have power at the park I can't get the scores live as they come in for the second round. This week I'm installing a new phone system in Arlington Heights and it is keeping me busy.

Sunday's final results are up.

Chris Kujawski (MA3), I made a math error at the course that took you out of the prizes. It has been corrected in the online results. You should have been in a 4 way tie for the last two prize spots. I owe you $10 in funny money/prizes. Let me know in the next couple of weeks what you want for your prize and how to get it to you. Please accept my apology for the error.

Bruce and Brett, it was my mistake and it's not going to break the bank so I'll take care of this myself.
