Where do you want to go for IOS #1?
If I wasn't already running a tourney at Oswego in April, I would have put that one up for consideration.
I voted Aurora, but I like all the options. I like Streamwood also. Bevier is closest to me but seems to produce lower attendance figures historically, or else I would have voted for it.
Streamwood has flooding problems in May. Is Aurora usually playable in May? I thought it had flooding problems too.
Aurora has had issues with not draining well, but it really depends on what kind of spring we have. Last year was a very wet spring.
For those that are throwing other courses out there, the following are the only Northern IL 18 hole courses w/o PDGA events tentatively planned for 2009
Bartlett
Lockport
Shorewood
New Lenox
Rockford.
wherever you put it, i will play it. it's just scheduled in for the summer. that's how it is. why would you wanted to miss some of the best run events in the area?
other random suggestions:
Kirkland
and if the thoughts of taking it over the border NW Indiana courses are good options too.
Lemon Lake
Riverside
Not sure what Red Roc club has planned but throwing it out there. I like brainstorning. :-\
Summitt
Antioch. A tourny may be just what this course needs to get moving in the right direction. Lots of room for extra holes too.
lockport
or might i suggest running a worlds biggest type event on the south side cook county forest preserve
( only could be one day event - but we could try to find 2 locations )
or finding a ball course that will let us take over for the weekend
lol, run it at Lombard Commons and add a bunch of holes :P
I'd support Antioch - but I know it would be rough from a bottom line perspective. Kenosha is tough because that's a haul for Bruce to drive.
If you have Crystal Lake and Fairfield, that's 2 further north. Mokena was south, and Lombard was central-south. In that scenario I'd say look for something further south. In that case I'd say go for one of the Joliet 18's. Either that or Bloomington/Normal :P
West Park
Kenosha
or Bevier
UW Parkside, I had a great time there last year.
What is the situation with the course at Kenosha? Last we heard they were talking about totally laming up the course, eliminating all the woods holes and replacing them with stuff in the scrubland. Maybe. You cannot lpan a tournament with that hanging over your head.
For all of the drama, expense and lack of support we get at UWP, I'm not a big fan of the venue. It is not the distance. You have to drive for good courses, and they used to have a good course. The venue was never very player or TD friendly, and it is getting worse.
Jon once beat me like 12 times in a row at Shorewood, and it was double or nothing on every round, and i think i lost my watch and $500 that day. It was like the powers-that-be smiled on him and gave him his dream disc golf day. Nonetheless, from the long tees Shorewood is a pretty good course.
Rockford all the way
Bruce - as far as UWP - I played the revamped course at the Prairie Open - the course is BRUTAL on a large number of holes. There are still some holes that are pretty easy (old #6, 7). I felt that the course was more difficult than what it was before. It's not a HUGE amount in additional difficulty, but it's still a very good course in my never consistently accurate throwing opinion.
Rockford or a temp course closer to home.
I'm going with Rockford for sure.
hmmm. i would have to say rockford or bloomington/normal.
Streamwood.
We will tarp the entire course for the week prior, to advoid any problems. :D
I was in Bloomington and Champaign for 6 days last week. Please don't make me go back!
As far as Streamwood goes the park district won't close the course for tournament play and they won't provide access to bathrooms. Unless that has changed, Streamwood is a no go...which is a shame because I really like the course.

.... nah, that one's too easy....
Rockford
I'd say Lombard only for the selfish reason that it's not too far for me (I'm almost certain that I won't play Round Lake or Crystal Lake) so I'd get to play two IOS events this year.
Like spuds idea of Lockport. It's sort of a hidden gem. But then you'd have two north and two south and nothing in the middle.
Parking might be and issue there though.
That's my two cents.
Waukegan or Kenosha
With open players playing on May 3

I'd say Lombard...
Perhaps you haven't read the other thread?
