There is a nine hole course coming to Mundelein soon! More info when I find out.
I'm down. Just tell me where & when.
I have two favorite sentances from that page....
QuoteGolf discs are especially designed for golf.
and
QuoteThe park board will be monitoring this new facility closely. If it is well used and appreciated they will consider building an 18 hole facility at another park.

Bruce is the Michigan State Coordinator for the PDGA, and knows quite a few things about course design.
That said, I've had countless occasions playing area courses where casual groups behind me throw, even when I'm well within range of their drives.
Please take our suggestions as that, suggestions. Just remember that its a lot harder to change the layout once the course goes into the ground.
Here's a suggestion for the proposed layout seen in this image:

I see the red dots are pin placements. Why force the 9-hole course on five baskets? Why not make it a five hole par-15 family course.
Most park districts like for equiment and park features to be safe, after all its both theirs and the responsible person's risk exposure if someone gets injured at a park.
Why not involve the wooded area along the NE border of the park? That could be a good alternative to forcing groups on two tees to throw at the same basket...
Do you know who's behind it? What's the deal?
Myk has connections at the Libertyville PD; maybe he can help too!
Mangler, did you measure these yourself or get distances from MundeleinPD?
either way, looks like it will be interesting!
THANKS!
yep. thanks!
Check this out. Mundelien website with info!
http://www.mundeleinparks.org/DiskGolf.html
I wonder who put all this together. Obviously, someone with experience has been helping somewhere.
Either way, its ANOTHER COURSE!
BTW, we should hear about Wildwood within the next week or two.
What's with all the cross-over holes? Looks like only two groups can play at the same time.
I applaud and am excited about any new course! Congrats to those involved in putting it in the ground.
However, I'd rather see a good 5-hole course than one which creates hazardous situations. From my 11 years of playng disc golf, my experience is that, generally, disc golfers do NOT look out for each other that often.
I will play the course so that I may speak from a specific experience, but that layout will surely not work.
Where did Mundelein get the baskets?
I just spoke with Mr. Alex Marx of the Mundelein PD. I called to get info about the course and where they are purchasing their baskets. He would not tell me where they were purchased from, but did say that it was an established vendor.
He added that if someone were to approach him with used baskets out of the back of a van, he'd buy them w/o question to save a few bucks. Yes, he actually said that. What an ASS!
He also said that the course would not open for at least another 60 days.
Mangler, wow, why are you getting so upset? What is YOUR interest and what role are YOU playing in this 'forward-thinking" community?
If you have ANY experience with disc golf courses, you will see that a layout like the one you've shown is very flawed. Yes, I for one appreciate any and all efforts to promote disc golf. If you had a hand in it, GREAT! You've done a great service to the sport. But course design is another matter altogether. there is so much to take into consideration.....
and I'd bet that 99% of actual, experienced course designers will agree that it is better to put in 5 good holes with 5 baskets than to force a 9-hole layout.
Seriously, the VHPD would never agree to building that layout simply because of INSURANCE LIABILITY.
And I'd really like to know what your involvement is. If you've got good stuff to offer the disc golf community, let people know about it. If you offer no SUBSTANTIAL or VERIFIABLE data, you're just blowing smoke.
Mangler, several people have told me that I came off too hard on my posts. Although I do not agree, perhaps i do need to re-emphasize how much disc golf needs good, solid promotion. If you are trying to get a course in the ground, that's good promotion.
My personal goals, in fact our club goals, include the positive, encouraging promotion of the sport and support to the people who play it. We 've learned a lot over the past few years. Some of us have been playing for over a decade and have been to countless tourneys and events. We've got some experience behind what we say. Not that we're all experts leading mistake-free lives, but please consider the suggestions/concerns when designing your course.
There are contradictions between what you've posted over the past few months and what the VH & Mundelein PDs have told me yesterday. Maybe its all a big hush hush deal with those suburbs, but if so, someone of experience needs to be involved as well.
In designing a course, you should consider:
-safety of players
-safety of pedestrians
-flow of play
-future expansion or moving of tees or baskets
-natural landscape
-level of abililty/skill of all potential players
-balanced mix of left/right/straight holes
and so much more. If this is the first course you've designed, please be open to these issues. What good is a course that may get pulled just because of safety concerns. One persona who gets hit by a disc can not only get the course yanked, but get you sued as well.
We're/I'm not trying to order you around with my great big stick of experience. Part of the aim of these posts are to help you; I do not want to see a disc golfer suffer from bad planning or oversights. I'd rather see your hard work get a course in the ground and have it stay in the ground. I'm really sorry, but your current layout is not condusive to this.
Please accept my apologies if anything I said offended you deeply; not my intention.
sweet! another course, AWESOME
Jon,
I called the park district this morning. The secretary was not very receptive to my call. I was able to get a name out of her. Supposedly that person is in charge of the course. I left a voice mail & hopefully they'll call back.
I would like to see the layout. I talked to a Mundelein Park District Employee in May & he said the disc golf course was a bust for Mundelein. He said it was not approved and would not go into the ground.
Al,
I can understand that you may feel that these are negative posts. This is a place to express your opinions. We've had many heated debates, but in the long run, it has helped our club grow. There are several members who bring great knowledge about disc golf to this forum. I'm sure you took offense to the post by Bruce. He meant no harm. He is very experienced in disc golf. He's older than most of the trees on each course :)
I want to applaud you for all your hard work on geting 2 courses started. It's tough work & I think you've done an outstanding job. It's taken us several years to add 3 new holes @ Bevier, improve Fairfield, & finally get a course in the ground @ Wildwood.
I too agree that there is a safety concern with the design of the Mundelein Course. If it gets used like Fairfield & Adler, there could be big problems. 1 being safety & the other being players having to wait to play these holes.
Disc golf in the Northern Illinois Area is counting on these courses to be nice with no problems. Any bad experiences with these courses may cause other park districts to shy away from disc golf. Word does travel between park districts.
Please don't take offense to these comments. Most people out at Fairfield have no clue who I am. People tell me all the time how much they hate the tee pads & the tall grass. I just ignore it.
Mangler,
Glad to see you back. I like all the enthusiasm & what you have been able to accomplish. What you've done is very hard to do.
Thanks
Brett Comincioli
If park employees designed it, it most likely is a pitch and putt. Might be a good course to hold an Ace Race. Cool....
of course were interested...
Count me in please.
not too shaby
Hell yeah!!! I'll use a vacation day if I have too
/me does the happy dance
If it's an established vendor why won't he name it? And given his van comment and 2 baskets gone missing in the area as of lately I say its time to call the other Mundelien PD... Ya know the Police Department
Or if Alex doesn't want to play nice maybe contact the Board of Commissioners. I wonder what they would think about their Directors shady approach to things.
I'm guessing he was referencing Bruce's post.

A relatively unrelated relative of mine (she's my wife's cousin's wife!) works for the Mundelein parks and rec. She does stuff like runs the building that you can rent for a birthday party and stuff like that. Anyway, last spring she told me that the parks dept. was having a contest for all the parks staff to design a disc golf course. I volunteered to help her and tried to get more info, but was unsuccessful. Also my father-in-law just retired from the Mundelein parks and rec maintenance staff. At Christmas they both had cheap give away quality frisbee knockoffs with Mundelein disc golf course printed on them. They used these to play the object course that the winning dept staff designed. They also said that they were going to put in a nine hole course and were considering making it 18. They did not know what park. After the holidays I'm going to make some calls to find out what's going on and volunteer to walk the course before they put it in the ground.
I will play the course if I can get the appropriate protective gear. ;-)

In the best interest of the game. MPD DGC will be targeted at a beginner to novice player. Its layout will stimulate creativity and still provide for a challenge for most players.
It will be somewhat of a learning center for youngsters, and young adults to get their feet wet in the game. Creating a signature course at this time not in the cards. Creating excitement and generating new players in the area getting a community involved. Get some momentum. Provide fertile ground for a strong future.
The Discontinuum board and its members have been of great help.
Im personally excited, young players can be exposed to a great sport ;We as seasoned players and adults can use this as a platform to teach and expose our sport to a newer generation. Step 1...
Thank You for input...
Modifications for safety have been made.

I'm thinking about playing this course on Saturday. The baskets are not in but I heard it is staked off. Might bring my Mach3 out to play it. Let me know if you want to join me.
The tees are in the ground but no baskets. The tees are framed with wood & filled with fine limestone.
Baskets are in the ground.
Toss'm if you gott'm
Does anyone have the official layout as a postable image? I'd like to see how the final design looks.
I'm interested in am image also, as we might play it this weekend.

I won't be playing because of injury, but may show up to see the course and watch a bit.
Congrats on more baskets being put in the ground!!!
So the course is in? and if it is could any one tell me the streets its located on or where it is located i wanna check it out over the weekend.

Todd and I went there today for a few rounds. We were greeted by two kids our age who told us the course, "f---in sucked". We Seen a few local guys from Adler Leagues...
The course overall is allright, we threw mostly putters and mid-ranges and had just about a good first shot on every hole, despite some heavy winds.
All and all it's nice but needs some more challenges.. Our biggest obstacle was boosting Todd up onto a home's roof to retrieve my Valkyrie.
I feel the baseball field is going to be a serious problem in the summer, unless of course it's abandoned like several fields across the suburbs are, but it looked like it was pretty well taken care of for being October.
Cross overs are a bit odd but not bad, of course once more people get out there it might be a little dangerous but... oh well..
Brett, Maddisen and I played it today. Here's my review.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly...
The Good: Hole number one is challenging, hole number 2 is cute and hole number 9 is fun. There are nine new baskets placed firmly in the ground in an upright position. The tee pads are level limestone. OK, that's all I can think of.
The Bad: For the longer holes (holes 1, 5, 8 and 9), the tee pad is way undersized. I was watching Brett's run up on a couple of holes and his non-plant foot is just barely on the tee pad and then his plant foot is right at the front. The width is way too small also. For the other 5 shorter holes its an ok size. There are too many places where the right handed backhand hizer bailout area is another tee pad and/or a basket. 8 and 5 for all practical purposes, share the same fairway shooting at each other with their bailouts being the other's tee pad. Number 3 is going to get a lot of discs in the surrounding yards. Too many of the holes are just wide open 150-200 foot shots. Its ok for a nine hole course to have one of those if that's what's needed for course routing. But on this course its numbers 3, 4, 6, and 7.
The Ugly What is ugly is what is beautiful. And what makes it ugly is that there are no baskets there. There are several acres of woods with dirt foot paths that could be easily turned into 3 to 6 holes depending on length. Think letter A at Bevier. Behind that there are several more acres of land around a pond. There is a foot/biking path there so you'd just have to route it to avoid the blind corner shots. It is so frustrating to see such a dumb course go in the ground when it could have been such a nice course. It still could be a nice course since the tee pads could easily be taken out. and new tee pads put in and of course move the baskets. I've been told by a Mundelein park person that the Mundelein parks people wanted to use the pond area but the designed balked because he said another bridge would have to be built to utilize the area. After walking the area with Brett today I know routing could be configured without the need for another bridge. This course is potentially a huge waste of resourses for the Mundelein Park District. However, they could recover their investment with a redesign of the course.
QuoteOur biggest obstacle was boosting Todd up onto a home's roof to retrieve my Valkyrie.
This is deeply concerning.... How long do you think the fringe homeowners will put up with things like that before a situation similar to the 'neighbor to the north' at Round Lake occurs?
I'm a homeowner and I sure as hell hate it when my next door neighbor's kids and permanently unleashed dog go roaming through my yard. I'd go ballistic if I knew some people were up on my
roof.
It is good to know that it is nine baskets in the ground versus the proposed five. At least then the PD wouldn't have to invest more serious cash to add some alternate placements.
We played the nine twice this morning. Winds were 20-25MPH. Shot even the first nine & -4 the 2nd nine. Between Jon & I, we 2'd every hole but #1.
2 weeks ago I went with my wife & played the course when it was staked off. There was an organized game of flag football that interfered with some holes on the course. Today, There was a 7 on 7 team practicing with full pads. We could not play hole #8 the first round. I could also see baseball interfering if they host little league games.
Leo Leathers Park
Mundelein, IL
9 holes
Innova Discatcher-> No inner chains
Limestone tee pads
No tee signs
No restrooms
Hole 1-> (Good Hole)Tough, long anhyzer hole. Small gap to hit off the tee. Tee is to the west of #9 basket.
Hole 2-> (Average Hole) Slight uphill shot. Somwhat of an alley shot under some mature trees.
Hole 3-> Short wide open hole. Pin is placed in the corner of the park. I have a feeling the neighbors are not going to like disc golf  .
Hole 4-> Short wide open hole. It's a slight downward grade.
Hole 5-> Pretty wide open hole. Little longer than the others. Baskets sits on top of the hill. A utility pole & power lines protect the hyzer route.
Hole 6-> Short wide open hole. Another hole the neighbors aren't going to like
Hole 7-> Short wide open hole.
Hole 8-> Wide open hole. Tee sits elevated. Longer than the other open holes.
Hole 9-> (Good Hole) Longest hole on the course. Pin sits back under some mature willow trees. A stream runs in front of the pin as well. There we cars parked on the entrance to the park. I had to blast a drive so I wouldn't hit them. I just cleared a van & parked it the first round.
Holes 1, 2, & 9 are solid holes. The rest of the holes are wide open & do not provide a challenge nor do they require you to work on a skill. I doubt i'll go back & play this course casually or competitively. It would be a fantastic place to work on upshots & putting. Baskets 5, 7, 4, 8, & 1 make a nice line for this.
I agree with Jon about the park. We walked around & found some great holes that would range 150-250feet. They would all require skill. The woods by the basketball course have so much potential. There are 2 really wide trails thru them already. If the park district didn't want to clear fairways, there are already 2 nice fairways already cleared. The walking path around the man made pond to the east provide a fantastic area for disc golf. The path runs all the way to MHS. You could install some really nice holes & routing would be easy. This park has some potential.
The Maybe: Al sent me an e-mail commenting on my review of the course. He sees the course as a work in progress and has plans to move 4 or 5 of the holes. If 4 or 5 of the holes are moved it could start to become a worth while neighborhood/beginner course. I will, of course, hold my judgements until I see what actually happens.
I thought maybe Al would be pissed about what I wrote, but he seems to have a decent understanding of the problems of the current layout.
I'm hoping for the best for this course.
sounds like there are some issues
sounds like downers grove type issues
any one remember when oly fields was nine holes ?
still a little tight with 18
my opinions is that baskets in the ground is great
"work in progress" - i "think" many kinks can be/should be worked out
before - final answer - time
if neighbors are mad already redesign of the course
might never take place
communication is key
invite neighbors to play
could it be a nice glow course ??
Think Downers Grove but 10 levels below that.
" Im not angry anymore..."
Keep positive and enjoy.
It is an excellent practice facility.
Alternate Tee Box Locations to standing pins/Great Fun.
Also keep in mind that young players enjoy the game at a different level.
... If reconfigured this is will be a quite a fine Nine Hole Layout.
Stop the Pile-On.
When I first heard about the possibility of this course I had hoped for a Buffalo Grove style neighborhood/beginner course. If 4 or 5 holes are moved to the much more disc golf worthy area it would be better than Buffalo Grove but could still retain its beginner course mission.
A beginner course should offer beginners a chance to learn the game and score 7 or less on most holes for frisbee beginners and 5 or less for more skilled beginners. This kind of course can offer the local experienced player a place to practice where he has to do a little thinking and use a little skill to get a 2.
I understand what airspuds is saying about more baskets. But a poorly executed course can be worse than no course at all. It all depends on the mindset of the the parks people. If they think that the baskets are in the ground and now they can forget about this project then it will lead to neighbors upset about discs flying into their yards, windows, kids, etc. If they think this is a work in progress and are willing to make some changes then the course can progress into a good beginner course.
This isn't piling on Al, this is just communicating. I'm communicating my feelings about this course, not about you. I know you did a lot of work to get this course in the ground and I respect that. Still, my 25 years of playing, TDing and designing have given me a perspective that I am going to share.
Right now you have 3 or 4 good holes but it looks like you have 5 baskets in search of a course. Help them find their course Al! :D I'll look at your plans and help you if you want my help.
Look forward to discussion away from board.
Multi Projects Slated.
Lake County Goal "Seven New Courses" By end of 2005
Thank You
I would be happy with 1 championship calibur course that will push my game. That is what Lake County does not have.
...Elvis has left the building....
Vernon Hills Little Bear Lagoon has the answers.
Will post prototype again when interest picks up.
Well, I rang their doorbell to let them know what happened, and see if I could retrieve my disc (they weren't home). So it's not like I just tryed to get him up there as fast as I could and make off with my disc
Obviously yeah, there will be some serious issues with the homeowners in that area but the geniuses at the m.p.d didn't take that into consideration...
Yeah, I didn't mean for it to sound like I thought you didn't let the homeowner know...
Hi Al,
I'm very happy to hear that your enthusiasm is still high!
Regarding the "multi-projects slated", would you care to state what they are or where they are?
Not that i'm trying to horn in on your ideas, cuz i'm not, but you seem to be trying to do it all yourself. Discontinuum has 50 members, some very experienced and knowledgeable, whom you can -and should - be consulting.
Let's face it. Leo Leathers sucks. BUT - it can be a really sweet course. Why make all these ideas "works in progress" when several people working together can create a great course right off the bat? I have found that one person usually does not see every angle to a problem/issue. It takes more people to be able to tackle something like designing a disc golf course.
Again, this is NOT written to insult or discourage you. But please stop creeping in the shadows and keeping secrets - you may even have more fun with more people involved.
:)
Great point. If Club Focus can remain on Design and Development then Lake County and surrounding areas can benefit. As far as shadow dancing, I have only 24 Hours in the day, ground work is sometimes easier working solo. All projects will be on table in short term.
Over the past 3-4 years, we have honed design and installation proposals for park districts and other land-governing bodies. These have gone through several dozen drafts; and each time we choose to propose a new course, we specifically tailor the proposals for that venue.
Also, after working extensively with park districts, forest preserves, and municipalities, I've gotten to know much of their focus and vocabulary. We have also contacted many of the cities and park districts in the area over the past few years. I would hate to see you waste time going through processes we've already covered.
In short, we have found it worthwhile to be patient, kiss some butt on occasion, talk their talk, and be more patient.
One well-designed course every three years is better than a dozen poorly-executed and lofty ideas.
Stopped by the course for some practice on my way thru Mundelein yestarday. There were 3 groups on the course & it felt really crowded. The neighbors to the right of basket #3 have put up Private Property Signs on their fence. I wonder if they like disc golf :D . The tees seem to be holding up pretty good. They put #'s on the wooden frames so you know what tee you are standing on. I practiced for 30 minutes on putts & approaches using the line of baskets #'s 1, 8, 4, 7, & 5. I then played holes 1, 2, & 9. The best 3 holes on the course & you can air out some drives. They are routed perfect for some quick practice.
Will this course be added to the PDGA Directory.
Played in Late afternoon rain today... Really very good conditions..This game still only counts when you put the disc in the basket. 1,2,9 are the best here without question. Enjoyed 18. Working on getting score below -5 (par 3) everywhere. Coming close.
When MPD config's new 4,5,6,7, add's 80-100ft to 9. The course will crank !
I feel it will happen in (short) time.
Practice here is very good. Great ULTIMATE conditions.
Hope you don't mind me commenting and asking a questions. I've played some disc golf in Libertyville and out of town but I am still what I would call a beginner. I do play the Mundelein course now several times a week and have since before it had baskets and opened.
I did notice felt tip marker numbers on each hole immediatly after a park district employee was out measuring the holes. 1, 8, and 9 have 4s and the rest have 3s. I have assumed that would be the par. Judging from the distance, from my viewpoint, that would be logical. A park employee told me that there were plans to add yardage/par signs at the tees.
I realize that disc golf enthusiasts such as yourselves might not consider the course a perfect layout but I'm glad to have one here. It is bringing the sport to more people and getting it attention. The more people that learn about it, the more it will gain mainstream popularity. I saw a dad out there this weekend with a group of kids, possibly a party. They were having a great time and being introduced to the game. The price is right too.
Birdman-Mundelein is a great beginner course, from what I've heard. (I haven't had the privilege yet). Some of the comments posted here are showing concern for placement. We love to play on new courses but we don't want disc golfers to tick off the people who live on the course because the routing is too close to the residences. Also, a beginner course is good for beginners but doesn't allow people to grow as their game does. Have fun and explore all that this area has to offer!
Welcome aboard Birdman. Thanks for you comments & we hope you continue to visit the board.
Signage posted at all nine. Distance and directions Plus other additions. Bridge over creek. Attractive
And a net bordering one neighbor.
Anyone Record an ACE Yet ?
Recent additions. Course Signage Complete...Looks Very Good...Course Plays well. 1,2,9 are solid also #8 at 330 feet great opportunity for Pretty Ace. Local Kids are looking for lost discs but will expect reward.
I've been getting very frustrated stopping by this course on the way home. There are still quite a few baskets removed at Fairfield so i've been practicing here after games & baseball practice.
Every night this week there has been a group using the baseball field and there has been soccer practice on the grass. Holes #1,5,8,& 9 have pretty much been unplayable. I have been able to throw over the kids with no real threat to hit them. Rec players have a good chance of blasting them. I used the other baskets to practice. I've been putting, throwing putter uspshots, & mid range roc shots. After that i've tried to play holes 1,2, & 9. Think of Bevier #2 & #3 with soccer players X's 10 with little kids.
The parking lot lane has had cars parked all the way down it each night. The lane probably sits 280ft-300ft off the #9 tee. The basket for #9 is on the other side of the lane. It's frustrating not being able to throw the best hole on the course because cars guard the pole. Against my better judgement, I threw over the top of the cars tonight. I had a good wind though <_< .
Park Districts like the Revenue these Youngsters Bring...Spring Time everywhere is Busy...
#9 is the #1 Handicap here..But not worth Hitting a car or Creating that special Kodak Moment..
Because redesign might be too drastic, or adding four More (on east side of park) along with alternate tee,s might not be in 2004 future...
adding practice facility on Park District property west of Hole #1 across street is an Idea. Three Tee Pads and Three Baskets could be placed. 3x3 =9 Distances and looks all be different might look like this,,
I think longest look 270 ft.

Nice disclaimer.

Mid Morning Round in Mundelien....a couple of surprises.
Park District reduced distances of #3 and #5 each.
#3 might be the shortest hole Ive ever seen.
Second surprise was that Mundelein High School has adopted the course. A large student base was playing in threesomes and foursomes having a great time. Of Course supervised by a PE Teacher. Great Exposure for the game !
Mangler keeps a little pressure on for redesign work that includes.
1 stays
2 stays
new 3
new 4
new 5 (water)
new 6
new 7
new 8
longer 9 or alternate tee pad use #3
All interior baskets will be gone (ie 4,5,6,8) disapear.

Has this course been pulled? Can someone who lives close or drives by confirm? Got this e-mail today.
Jon,
Can you confirm for me that the Leo Leathers listing should be deleted
from the PDGA Course Directory? I notice that it does not seem to be
listed on the discontiuum site. (There is a course in Park Forest on
that site that we don't list also?)
Joe X could not locate it. Are the directions correct?

Thanks, Cliff Towne

Mundelein,
alive and well .. alernates a plenty. Burgeoning Black Market selling found discs.
I think course record 8 down ?
Discontinuum has not recognized it as of yet on their page.
Chuckers paradise !
any one ACE #9 yet ?
Someone e-mailed Cliff telling him that he couldn't find the course and that it should be removed from the directory because it isn't there. Just wanted to confirm it's existence. Thanks!
Ew, ew, and more ew.
The course took forever to find. The park district map was misleading. I arrived to see a group of foul mouthed youths endind their game within ear-range of the playground. Not the courses fault, but it didn't sit well. All the sign posts for the holes were vandalised to some degree and nine was missing altogether. The whole course bored me. The first three holes and the last one weren't too bad, but everything in between could use some obstacles or something. The dirt tees and "greens" made everything dirty on a hot dry day. I met a couple of really nice guys right before the nine, but it didn't make up for the course. I'd need to be dragged back.
I think there's a possibility that the course might be pulled entirely. I honestly wouldn't miss it because of all the crossing fairways too.

There's a very vocal minority of disc golfers that talk like that no matter where they are or who is around them. There was one guy yesterday around the leader board and the coversation went something like "Dude, I F-ing parked that F-ing hole down there by the F-ing trees..." This "conversation" went on like this for at least 5 minutes. All the while Maddisen is standing about 3 feet away from him putting up scores on the leader board. Nice...and classy!
this is my favorite course
;DI got my first duece on this course today!
So, considering this course's rating, does that count?
The children I watch were looking for something to do during their sister's soccer (Football) camp and we ended up at the playground. When an eight and six year old think the course is boring and confusing, it's time to do some work.
a deuce is still a deuce, so good job :) Now it will be time to start working on hitting some of those drives so that the particular hole is a deuce all the time, and if the drive isn't perfect, get those putts working for you so that you can hit from a little bit further out. Sometimes a well-placed 3 is always just as nice, but at Mundelein you definitely want to hit as many deuces as you can!
Keep up the good work :)
How is this course I know its not great but is it at least worth trying. For example, does anyone think it's better than Warren or Adler.

Dont waste your time or gas money. I dont even know if its still in the ground.
Not even close. Like Justin said, don't even bother.
Since the course is near my dad's house, I went with my friend. It's a very small course with barely any challenges. It caters to midrange and putters throws but its not TOO bad. If you live near it and just want to get in 18 holes in 30 minutes before work or school, its worth it. They might never have a tournament there but I don't think it was designed with that thought. Personally I think its an excellent place for people who are having troubles putting and want to practice their short game.
Updating my thoughts about this park for new players..
For someone who has played a few years or for someone who can already throw a ton, then yes this park will suck. However, what I've gained from playing here is being more relaxed while throwing mid-range shots and putting. I was constantly having trouble keeping my rocs straight and having a wobble with my putts so one day I kept my drivers at home and just use my mid-range. Most of the holes are rather short but if you have a problem with control and accuracy, this course will help solve the problem.
