Two one day events at the Sinnissippi course is  great news. This is a course that should be on everyone's must play list.

We've been working on a venue for IOS #3 since the Mokena deal fell through. We've also been looking for an opportunity to work with Scott since at least last year. This seemed like a great opportunity to combine efforts. Bruce will be there but without his usual helpers so he can come out without bringing his merch.

Well if you're not bringing your merch what is left for you to do but bug me non-stop? Some people might pay extra to see that!  ;D

Don't take it personally Bruce, but I'm not going.  I will be in Colorado but will get a chance to play Aspen. I wish I could play Sinissippi.

Last Sunday at IOS #1
I had to discuss the details with Scott Pitner www.paperorplasticsports.com
There were many factors involved with the decision but I think it was a good decision.
1. Venue for IOS #3 was a problem.
2. I was a little understaffed last year at Sinnissippi so things should run smoother with the IOS team.
3. This will be a Pro B-Tier thanks to the support of DISContinuum.
4. The best for last. I get to play!

this is gonna be fun. i go play sinnissippi every other sunday, when my wife goes to see her folks in sterling.

there has been some slight changes at the park.

holes 1, 3, 5, & 6 all have a 4th pin location now that add a different challenge to the shots. definitely worth checking out for basket positions at the tourney. the rest of the holes still have 3 pin locations.

hole 2: the big dead tree in the middle slightly to the right of the fairway has fallen, but they planted 3 other trees in its place. also 2 other dead trees up close to the basket positions have fallen down, but its better, you dont have to worry about branches falling from it anymore.

hole 9: after they moved the pad over about 100ft to the left, cause of discs going in peoples yards, the park district built up the baseball field. now its not an open straight shot, you have to throw over a slight incline in the land.

if possible can the walking path be closed. if not expect 20 min delays on holes 3,4,5,&6. every time ive played there this year someone has had to go and stop bikers and walkers cause of a backup at those holes. we had 15 people (most were in 3somes playing, it wasn't one big group) waiting over 20min to shoot hole 3 a week ago. this was only an ok weather day imagine a nice day.

cant wait to play some temp holes there. they were awesome last year.

exciting stuff - I'm already pumped!  Now someone just has to make sure that the baby doesn't come a couple weeks early.  I have the ok from my wife to still be at the event with all the merch even if she goes into labor (cuz that's how cool she is!!!) kid #1 popped out in 4 hours, so even if I packed up and drove to the hospital immediately I'd still probably miss kid #2.  So yeah... should be some fun times!!

brett - jon - ios crew, we should probably have some sort of mini discussion about how to best handle funny money as far as accepting paper brass from waukegan or crystal lake.  it would have to be my reward dollars going out for that particular weekend - but regardless, there's time to discuss through PM's, emails etc.

It looks like Paper or Plastic Sports Reward Dollars will be issued at this tournament, and of course any or all Paper or Plastic Sports Reward Dollars will be accepted at this event.  If you want to spend some of the IOS Funny money, we can probably work out some arrangements, but it would be best to spend that money with Bruce when he is out here at IOS #2 and #4.  Since the brass expired, it's not like everyone has this mass horde of IOS Funny that they've saved up and won't be able to spend at a later date.  Paper or Plastic Sports Reward Dollars WILL be accepted at any event where I am set up to vend.  The full calendar can be found at www.paperorplasticsports.com (dates subject to change at any time).

Not to be the weird one, (Yeah I know, too late).  I'm trying to save up for a mini basket.  I saved my Saturday and Sunday players packs, and plan on doing that at every tourney.  The only problem is at this tourney.  I really like Scott, and appreciate the way he runs tourneys and merch.  Is there a way I could get IOS Paper Funny Money instead?  Or can we work something out?  If not, I might be able to get a couple discs, and sell them, and use some real money to make up the difference  when I need to actually buy the Mini Basket.  Of course this would all be a moot point if I would get my head out of my Hind end on Sundays, because I am capable of finishing in payouts.

I'm open to any and all ideas...

Peace,

We will probably be able to work something out.  If Scott's prices are similar to mine, I can buy some IOS paper money from Jon and trade for your "Scott Bucks" and then spend your "Scott Bucks" on stuff I need.  I don't think it should matter to Scott whether I'm buying his stuff or you are.  I can't guarantee that I can do this deal for everyone, but I'll try to bring enough cash to do it for people who ask.

I will try to get the mini-basket on my next order and then put your name on it.

Jason, I didn't see your e-mail. Tom McManus, can you answer Jason's question? I'd asked that Discontinuum refund his entry fee. If you haven't I then you can put it on Sinissipi...if you have then I guess Jason has to re-register.

Dave O - I also have a mini basket (chrome top) in stock that if you wanted to combine your Reward Dollars with IOS Funny I can likewise work something out, and then spend the IOS Funny on Bruce's merch.  It would just save Bruce from having to order one (btw Bruce, last I checked, Innova was reported as out of stock on those).

Are they showing it on PDGA.com?  They should be showing it with an *.

The divisional split is the same as the other 2009 IOS tournaments, Open, MPG, MA2, MA4 on Saturday.  All others on Sunday.

Pitner will be merching it.  He'll have a couple dozen cool dyed discs done by me plus his overwhelming stack of stuff.  Jon, Brett, Becky and I will be in charge of tournament operations with help from other helpers who may show up to help.  Becky and I are discussing whether to do the two-dog lunch.

I want to do the two-dog lunch one day if Becky does.  I keep thinking, "But who will watch merch?"  Then I think, "Oh, the Pitners will watch merch!"  Do you guys like the two-dog lunch?  I ate it last time and won.  Kira says that the two-dog lunch customers outperform the other players.  I think it is from having more time to relax on the lunch hour.  No worries about getting back on time.  That sort of thing.  And i think the dogs are yummy.

It is not on PDGA.com because Carolyn has been out of the office for a few days.  I'll resubmit the sanctioning agreements to Dave Gentry and see if he can get them up.

Why is it that it takes forever for them to post dates?  I've heard other TD's complain and the last two I've TD'd, it took FOREVER for them to put the tournament up on the schedule?

With that said, I'm stoked to get back out to Sinnissippi!  I've been looking forward to this one for a LONG time.  Now that it is an IOS/Btier that makes it even better!

Thanks guys, I will be registering ASAP.

24 holes this year, or more?

Again, THANKS for all your hard work!

Brett, question for ya. I have already pre registered for this, 3rd place last year has me itching to get back out to one of my Top 5 courses in Illinois. My brother plays Advance Master, but don't have access or an account to pre register online. Can I mail you a check with his info? You can send me the mailing address to dougp72@hotmail.com if this is okay to do.
Thanks in advance, Doug

FYI to everyone.
I have the excel document ready to go with prereg's. I'm awaiting the password for the event to start uploading names. As soon as I get it names will go on the PDGA Tour page.

Brett - Karolyn is back in the office now, so I would expect to get your information from her soon.  She was sending me my certificate information and junk for the weekend.

The Hotstamp for the tournament is attached.  It will look big when you download the file, but the actual image will only be a small 3" diameter stamp that goes around the outer edge of the disc.  It's fairly simplistic, gets the point accross, and hopefully will be enjoyed by all.

While I do need CryZtal Buzzz's, right now it looks like I'm only going to order from Innova.  It's a big order, but it's going to have some fantastic stuff.  I won't post here yet what it is because I have to make sure that Innova hasn't run out of stock on them yet.  Some highlights that I can mention here: Champ TeeBirds, Champ TeeBird-L's, Champ Groove, Star Wraith, Star Boss, Star Ontario Roc, CFR Champ Gators (big bead), and more :)

Not going to get Star TL's, they are in fact Champion TeeBird-L's - they are only available with custom tournament stamping.  Similar to the DX Ontario Roc and DX San Marino Roc and a few other things that I'm ordering - only available with custom stamping :)

Anyone know?

We do first place trophy discs for season points and we do first place trophy discs at each tournament for juniors.  When juniors have the skills to play for prizes, they are welcome to play in the ratings based divisions.

Tim from Fade Gear recommended this place:
Moonlight Bay Marina - http://moonlightbaymarina.com/about.php (http://moonlightbaymarina.com/about.php)

This is also the place where he has arranged for a player party with a live band to play from 9 to midnight.

Should be a great weekend :)

the closest place to camp is ruffet park on rt 30 by rockfalls. moonlight bays camping is no good unless you have a recreational vehicle or wanna get eaten by bugs. a lot of bikers are usually at moonlight bay partying, so it'll be a late night if you try to camp. the bar at moonlight is nice and the food is decent, i have jammed out there on several occasions for birthdays and stuff. hopefully the band isn't Space Juice for they bring a crowd you don't wanna be involved in.

here's a link for ruffet park:

My wife hasn't decided yet, I'm going to guess probably not. I'll find out her plan and get in touch with you. Are you towing or traveling light since you don't have merch?

Travelling medium light.  Probably driving the big towing van.

I need to find out from Becky if she and I are doing the hot dog lunch.

I need to find out from Scott and Brett if I should bring the popstand, or if Scott has that covered.

If I'm not bringing any of that, I'm driving the silver and rust van.

One of the reasons why I go for urban commando camping is for the quiet at night.  The idle humming of two dozen diesel engines, if I cannot find anything better, is nothing compared to one DJ playing bad music louder than his speakers can handle.   ;D

there are plenty of hotels once you get into Sterling. Not sure on the whirpools and bars. Pekin is only about an hour and a half, so never have used the hotels. Heck if I remember right from last year.... turn right out of the park and there is a hotel close, by the Wendy's.

Sr - I'm looking at staying at either the Country Inn or Holiday Inn.  Country Inn I think is $100 a night, but then if you stay for 2 nights you get 15% discount, and Holiday Inn is $89 (pay up front) or $94 (pay when you stay).  Both are in Rock Falls, and you drive past them before you get out onto the interstate again.

There is Trailer camping - Registration recommended, and some tent camping

make it. I will get more information on Wednesday night.

4)  Wal-Mart Parking Lot – ½ Mile East of Course.

That hotel has not been there for 20 years. The building is gone. The closest motels are right off the Interstate exit for I-88 and Illinois Rt. 40 in Rock Falls.

There are always plenty of Bars. Palms, Kellys, and so on, all about 1 mile form the course in downtown Sterling. Right near the course there is also Applebees and a couple other restaurants that serve.

I should have some nice new Gateway plastic at the tournament too.  Any requests?  I know I need to pick up some SS Voodoo's.

Hey all.

We have a big Sinnissippi Course CLEAN-UP day planned tomorrow at 1:00 to 4:00. Anyone in the area would be welcome to help out. Just come on out. Skins start at 10ish.

Looks like FADE Gear  WILL be vending FOOD for the Tournament Saturday & Sunday. All proceeds to go for the local course improvements.
Hamburgers, Hot dogs Brats & Spicey Pork Chop Sandwiches, Chips & Cold Water with Powdered Drink to Mix.

We move the Pins every week. I will check with Pat Gourney today on when he wants to move them. I am trying to get the park district to MOW on Wednesday/Thursday. Plus we have some alternate pin placement areas needing some work.

The stamp looks great Scott. It will be nice to have a small stamp thats in the top right corner of a disc instead of being just centered all the time. I found that if you click the attachment at the bottom you can see the picture a little more clearer. Lovin the big stack of discs in the background. I wont be able to come, but I think I am going to have to send someone with some cash to pick up some of those sick discs from that order you just got.

Anybody with any Gateway plastic requests? I need to restock on some Wizards, and I had some requests for some SS Voodoo's.  anything else?  I plan to order about 50-100 Gateway discs before Sinnissippi.

Hey Scott,

Is there any chance that you would take the time and be so kind as to list your prices for each type of plastic (sta, champion, elite-z, esp, s-series, etc. I know it would take a decent chucnk of time, but it can't hurt to ask so I am asking. The prices that the plastic would be going for at the tourney.

I'm getting pumped for this event :)  Went through my new inventory process for the disc order - saved a LOT of time.

Full inventory with IOS stamp (the CFR Cobra's do not have the stamp) is attached.

How am I going to fit all this plastic in the van?  Although you can see my "inventory specialist" checking out the stash :)

And the other picture is a close and better image of the stamp.

I'm ready, hope to see everybody out there!

If Scott would like me to pick some up, I will.

Because I overslept on April 1st, and because today is the TD report deadline for inclusion in the July ratings, we decided to prepare and submit a projected IOS 3 TD report today.  If your scores change from what Krupicka is projecting, we will amend it later.  This way, those of you who pre-registered, and those of you who have been projected to pre-register, will get projected ratings off your projected scores.  If the projections turn out to be incorrect, it will get corrected with the October ratings update.

Maybe we can get Terry to do the TD report for the 2009 Cold Turkey. Depending on how he projects my scores I can decide whether I want to play.  He will have to run the sub routine to factor in the players who will make the mistake of having a 4th helping on Thursday.  The math may get pretty comnplicated.  I may not be playing IOS #3 but I am sure that you saw the projection that I shot  1022 and 989 rounds ::) using fanatasyfactorthree.

Yes, I'll have the full lineup of Fade Gear Bags at the tournament.  I have VERY few Black holes left, and Tim is sold out.  So let me know ahead of time if you are interested in one of those and I can place a hold on it.  I also only have 2 - Garden Deli's left (Tim also sold out), and I'm sort of saving them as options for the players that win their respective divisions, but I can probably let 1 of the 2 be placed on hold or something.

Everything else from Fade I should have in ample stock, and if not, I'll make sure to get it from Tim :)

Tim,

What kind of prices will you have for hot dogs and the like? Becky, Maddisen and I will be doing registration, and tournament operations all day so it really helps to have food on site. I just need to make sure I bring enough cash. But probably other people are more likely to buy as well if they know how much to plan on bringing.

Thanks,

For those of you who like those dyed discs I do, the Cubs, Bears, Yodas, Vaders, Superman, etc., Pitner will have a bunch of them at this tournament.

For the four of you who asked me to make specials, most of your discs are done or are getting done.

I went out to Sinnissippi today and man it is playing tough.  I think I only had a couple 2's in 36 (holes 3 and 4 were moved to easier placements after I played) holes.  1's new placement is pretty sweet- makes it a little easier on lefties.  8's (new?) placement was alright; lefty and righty route to it.

I will probably be a Thursday 8pm decision.  Sorry guys.  I wish I didn't have an overloaded schedule.  I enjoy supporting some of the best run tourney is Northern Illinois.  I just hope my bachelor party doesn't end up on IOS #4 weekend.  I am SOOOOO hoping for the weekend after (Mike you better read this).

Both my Discraft and Gateway orders were shipped today!  I have no idea what's in the Gateway order as I was expecting 3 boxes of stuff and they only shipped 2.  So hopefully I'll have a bunch of new putters - sorry, wasn't able to order anything else (budget constraints and all!).

From Discraft I ordered over 200 discs including some Ultimate discs, Z-Buzzz's (15 of them), 15 Stalkers and 10 Ringers.  First come first served on this plastic.  Hopefully I'll have them all in their bins by the end of night tomorrow.

I did not place an Innova stock order for this event because of the size of the custom stamp order.  So for those of you looking for more dry-fit polos (Sorry Kenny) I didn't pick up any more.  I did order some Discraft dry-fit polo's though.  The Innova stock selection is still good overall though.

Something like 800 new discs added to the inventory for this event and beyond.  Bring on those player packs and winnings!!

Jon - Tim might still be having computer problems.  I emailed him today with an order and haven't heard back yet.  That's very uncharacteristic of him.

Kenny, not sure yet, but me and my Brother may spend the night in a hotel Saturday night, so he can see the course after tourny ends Saturday. If we do, you can crash on floor free of charge. I should know more tomorrow evening.

On line prereg closes at 8:00 PM Thursday night.  If you are playing intermediate and want to play two days, sign up for advanced.  Double your fun at a great course. Play advanced trophy only and save $10.

From 8:00 last night we picked up an additional 13 entries. Don't wait till the last minute.

ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES THURSDAY AT 8:00PM

Trophy Note: Over the years the IOS team has tried to be creative with cheap trophies to keep payouts fatter. We have been using dyed trophy discs the last few years. At IOS #3 if you win a trophy disc you will get a IOS #3 Sinnissippi Open stamped disc with nothing on it. You can keep this disc, trade it for the same value disc of anything you want to throw, or you can choose to have it dyed as a trophy disc. If you chose to have it died it will be collected and mailed to you after it's dyed with division and place.

Check out this link for IOS #3 discs.

I think this is the largest pre-reg field we've ever had!

If you go with getting the dyed trophy disc I think you'll probably be able to get your name and/or pdga # put on the disc if you put that with the info that will go to Bruce to get dyed.

just a heads up. If you are staying in Rock Falls and are attending the player meeting Saturday night be careful traveling. the police usually do roadside checks on the bridges going from Sterling to Rock Falls at random times between 10pm and 3am from Thursday - Saturday. Moonlight Bay is about 2miles from the course and about 5-7 miles from lodging or camping in Rock Falls. Just figured some would want to know this. remember don't drive drunk.

:icon_joker:

If Krupicka did actually make projections I would love to see them.

just talked to some friends in sterling and all the baskets were moved a couple days ago to the positions Brett had posted. I told my buddy to preregister if he wants to play and he said there was a lot of locals just gonna show up the day of and try and get in, so I encouraged him to sign up today or at doubles tomorrow cause this will most likely fill before then.

Tim,

What kind of prices will you have for hot dogs and the like? Becky, Maddisen and I will be doing registration, and tournament operations all day so it really helps to have food on site. I just need to make sure I bring enough cash. But probably other people are more likely to buy as well if they know how much to plan on bringing.

Thanks,

Jon
Has anyone heard if there will be food to buy at the course on Saturday and Sunday between rounds?

My Discraft and Gateway orders have arrived.  I did not get any FLX Drone's or Pro-D Ringers even though I ordered 10 of each.  I guess from the time I ordered until the time it was filled they ran out of the weights I requested.  I did receive 15 Stalkers of assorted weights.  I ordered Z-Comets and Z-Buzzz's.  Hopefully you'll find exactly what you need!

From Gateway I picked up the following
S-Wizard
SS-Wizard
SSS-Wizard
E-Wizard
SS-Voodoo
SSS-Voodoo
SSS-Magic

All items include chips and a drink.  Drink refills $0.50.
Hamburger - $3
Cheeseburger - $3.50
Brats - $3
Butterfly Pork Chops - $4

Tim said he has all of main condiments available to make for some really good food :).  He plans on starting to have the food available at 12 noon so that tournament staff can get some food a little bit ahead of time before cards start coming in.

As long as my phone has reception at Sinnissippi (it did last year) and we have power (I've heard that there is), I'm officially accepting credit cards!! woohoo!  It's at least Mastercard and Visa, and I think Discover will work as well.  Sorry, I will not be accepting American Express.  Minimum $5 purchase, a 7.75% Illinois state sales tax will also be applied (this tax amount is included with cash sales).

Good times :)

I like to use accuweather.com - seems to me to be a tad more right on with the temps and predictions - sunday is supposed to be a high of 82, 8% chance of rain, and weather.com was mentioning possiblity of rain around 5pm or so.  Overall I don't think it will be a problem at all and should be a fantastic day for disc golf.  Winds expected to be 5-10mph.

This is the position of the pins for the permanent 18 holes as placed for the IOS #3 Tournament. I do not have the distance of the temporary holes.

Hope this helps.

The trophy man got "home" safely.  Actually, I have not been home yet.  I drove straight to work.  Got in 45 minutes late.  I napped a little too long in Battle Creek.  While my eyes were closed I convinced myself I was napping in Lansing at the next rest area closer to home!

I'll go to work on the lettering tonight on the trophies.  (I also have to go to work on a custom stamp concept for Fairfield and an overall series trophy concept.  The custom stamp concept came to me when Jon and I said our farewells at Sterling.)  I'm guessing two evenings to do all the lettering, an evening to apply the dye, it has to cure slowly, so about three days there, maybe in the mail next Monday?

Sinnissippi has always been a tough scoring course for me, a true challenge.
Thanks for running the event.

On a side note; NO Discontinuum tag challenge at an IOS?!?!  That ain't right.  I only got my membership and tag to help out the club and have a little fun with the #'s at IOS events since I never get up to the north-side for anything.  If this is the way it's going to be I will more than likely NOT be getting a membership next year.  I understand that everyone is just SOO busy (not meant to bag staff), but how many club members were there that could've easily put out a box and looked at scores afterwards?  If I had known, this FVMDGC member would've put out a simple box.  Step it up kids!

I know the other Doug shot better the 2nd round, so his name is listed 1st, but since we played it off, shouldn't it show me in 3rd, winning in a playoff? Not that big of a deal, just trying to understand it. Thanks.

Your playoff was only for the trophy.  As far as PDGA points go, ties are only broken for 1st place.

Do it once and you'll understand why nobody wants to do it again.

That, and the person posting scores cannot control the order of the names.  The spreadsheet is locked.  It automatically sorts ties by its criteria, no matter what order the names are typed into the spreadsheet.  In the notes section, the TD report will indicate that you won the playoff for the trophy.  We collect that data and report it to the PDGA, but the PDGA doesn't tweak the results to make it look right.  Even at Worlds, there was a trophy tie at Worlds last year between Paige and Michelle and the winner of the playoff is shown in the wrong spot.

As to the tag challenge, Discontinuum is a volunteer run club.  Anyone can volunteer to run the tag challenge.  It is hard for someone who is volunteering to set up and take down the course, or sort the CTPs and help with scoring, or whatever, to also do the tag challenge.  It is a lot of work and it needs a dedicated volunteer.

I did it at least once, successfully, and could train a volunteer.  Brett has done it often and could train a volunteer.  If I get out there for any tournament where I'm not serving in some other capacity, I'll do tags, if i remember this then.

I'm glad most everyone had fun! We had a funny incident on the way home. Maddisen had fallen asleep in the back seat, Becky was almost asleep, I was driving with the radio on but not loud. We hit a little bump in the highway and something shifted in back and set off the horn! Whoo hoo! Maddisen woke up screaming. I yelled back if she could reach back there and turn it off. She wasn't clicking on all cylinders yet and just started yelling "I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't!"

So, after a few seconds it turned off. Whatever hit it did not fully flip the switch. So every time we would hit a bump, my folding chair packed in the back would bounce and make the horn chirp for a second. Maddisen, still a little groggy and confused said "Stop hitting bounces!"

I wasn't trying to make a big deal of it either.  I just wanted to explain it thoroughly so everyone would understand that there is nothing Jon can do about it.  The spreadsheet sorts ties first by hot round no matter how the data is uploaded, then alphabetical by last name, then first name, then PDGA #.

At a sanctioned doubles tournament once we had a three-way tie that was also tied on hot rounds that was also tied for trophies.  When we uploaded the scores, the players were no longer paired with their partners, but were shown alphabetically.  To re-pair the teams I gave team members fictitious but same middle initials with no space after the period, like John A.Smith and Jason A.Wysnewski.  That worked on the unofficial results, but the official results automatically corrected the last names to the one on the PDGA records.

The PDGA spreadsheet works pretty good most of the time, but it really is not designed for doubles.

Tafe that is stupid to even bring up in any way, shape or form unless you had done something yourself to make it happen.

Wow, i've finally recovered after leaving Friday morning at 10am and getting back Sunday night at 11:30pm.

An event like this takes many volunteers to pull off. It's very difficult when you live a few hours away. I want to thank everyone who chipped in to make it happen. I apologize if I miss anyone.

Tim of Fade Gear did an awesome job and donated a ton of time. Not only did he do course work he made an awesome lunch both days! His crew did an amazing job and I hope the players appreciated it. I hope the winners of Novice, Recreational, Intermediate, and Advanced appreciated the additional added bag to the payout. Please support Fade Gear!

It's very difficult to find cash to add to events. Thank you DISContinuum for supporting such a great event with $500 added cash making this event one of the biggest in Illinois. How awesome is it playing 6 temporary tees with solid tee pads and 6 quality baskets? Thanks DISContinuum!

Scott Pitner of Paper or Plastic Sports stock is second to none. The technology upgrade is a bonus. We need this game to become more official and merchandise is part of it. Thank you Scott!

The course looked fantastic. There are many new pin positions since I last played. The local players that volunteer should be proud. The new bridge on #5 is awesome. It is one of the best holes in Illinois. Sinnissippi is still one of my favorite courses in Illinois.

I want to thank Pat G, Gabe, Tim, and anyone else who moved pins. I know this was a touchy subject leading up to the event. Everyone has their opinions of what is the best placement but for tourney play you have to think about conflicts, balance, time, & flow when there are 100 players each day. Thank you guys!

I want to thank Dana for helping me lay out the tee pads and mark the temp holes. I'm not sure who got the park district to mow the green for # 9E but thank you! That hole is fun!

Thank you Pat G. for running doubles Friday night and to DISContinuum for donating a CTP (Innova Hat, Shirt, Mini, & Sticker). Good turnout and the weather was perfect.

Tom McManus is a work horse. Thank you Tom! He did an awesome job with preregistration and hauled 4 baskets out. Without him i'd never be able to set up 6 holes in the morning and break them down after. Thanks to the players that moved the baskets/tees close to the road for pickup. It was much appreciated!

The IOS team does it's best to offer you the most bang for your buck.
We hope you enjoyed the event!

My legs are feeling it today. What was the total distance for that course? I suppose I should probably add an extra half mile just walking between a couple of the holes. :-)

Through volunteering time and effort, along with the 50/50, Discontinuum Disc Golf club collected $533 for the A Tier that is going to take place in 2010.

I wanted to add Mike Krupicka's name to the list of helpers. He always does a great job in the scorers tent.

Thanks to Jon for getting the scores up so quickly, it is really a bonus. It is something that Jon should be proud of, I don't think they have a world record for that kind of thing, but if they did, Jon would have the record.

Scott's selection of merchandise is unsurpassed.

Thanks to Tim, Pat, and the rest of the Sinnisssippi crew for being such great hosts.  It is amazing that the course has so much play and it is in such great condition. For the locals here, think about Adler Park or Fairfield with he 20' diameter mud circles around the baskets. You guys are blessed to have such a great course.

Thanks to Tyler for running FVMDC bagtags.

Thanks to Glen Gruenke for joining Discontinuum this weekend.

Thanks to John Jordan and the ADV Grandmasters for breaking down the basket on the picnic table.

Discontinuum is a bunch of volunteers who do the best that they can with limited resources who promote disc golf in Illinois. Our club members who buy bagtags help us to put $ towards additional baskets and tee pads that they are welcome to use for events.

It was great to see so many club members make the trip to Sterling.

Thanks to Brett for the sweet alt holes.  They were tough again this year.  I know who to thank when I come down with a raging case of poison ivy.

Things I love:
Sinnissippi Disc Golf course
The temp holes
Bratts by the Fade Gear Guy. (Almost as much as I love his bags.)
The great selection of discs by a dang fine guy.
And the Discontinuum, Sterling, and other people who put so much work into a great tournament.

Peace, love, and tacos,

Thanks Tom. It is because of all the other people you mentioned (and people like yourself that you didn't), that I am able to get the scores up that quickly. Barish once posted that I am a 1000 rated TD, but that's not really fair. The way we run our tournaments is a team effort. We are a 1000 rated TD team!

I think we all do what we are good at and get help with the stuff we aren't so good at.

Not to take anything away from what Bruce has done for the IOS, but Pitner has the best traveling disc golf store that I've ever seen! Without Bruce, his merch and his generous contribution, the IOS would not be what it is today...if it would even exist. Pitner is running a business so partnering with him is a little different than partnering with the serious hobbyist (Bruce) but they bring different things to the team.

Good team effort all around for another successful IOS. I wish we could get 200 players to every event we run! More players=more fun!

:D ;D :D hay guys thx for the good times last weekend.  kinda pissed at my self for not playn this course sooner, its a good lookn fun course to play.  hope theres a tourny there every year.   i had no problem with tag challenge.  theres no rule sayn you have to turn them in and play against the whole field.  its is the norm but if no one is collecting you can always challenge your friends or whoever else and still play for the days scores.  anybody know where to get copys of the pictures taken during play, thought it might be cool to see them.  also wondering if the ratings will be turned in before the 7/21 ratings update.  i need every round i can get to get my rating back up.           thx again had a great time

legs, feet, arm, back, everything was sore after this trny. That walk between 18 and 1, was long enough to smoke 2 cigarettes.
Ever think about playing 9A after 18? When we were playing A, people were walking thru the hole to get to #1. Kind of distracting.

I was thinking the same thing about the hole routing, 9A and 9B both could be played after 18.  Of course, they wouldn'tbe called 9A and 9B because that would be confusing.   ^_^  Or after 18 we could play 9A, a hole using the 9C area but flowing the other way, and 9B.  I agree that there was a lot of 18 to 1 strolling going on in the 9A fairway.  My group was polite about it and paused while Owens and Kutella were putting.  One of them asked, "What are you guys doing, anyway?"  And I said, "We're being polite and waiting for you to putt."  And he said something like.  "Oh.  Huh!"  Kutella made a really nice 25 footer with all the pressure of Sprague and a couple of other pros providing a gallery.

With all the talk about Pitner's awesome merch, I thought I'd post this:

Pitner has an awesome stack of stuff, eh?   ;D

II'll be merching IOS 4.  I'll be taking Pitner's funny money but we'll be issuing IOS funny money.  That would be a good time to cash out your IOS script.

Trophy update:  I finished the lettering tonight.  I'll put the dye on tomorrow.

Monday night I had to do the household check book and budget book and pay the PDGA $997 with a quick accounting of why they got to take that much out of the tournament.  Tuesday night got burned up by a social obligation.  Shannon made the finals in a big Detroit area talent show, and if Shannon were leaving us for Nashville, I wanted to be there 'cuz ten years from now, 5000 people would claim they were there.  The show was great, standing room only, the crowd spilling over into the pool room and dining area.  Shannon was objectively awesome, but the audience voting format killed her.  Everyone was there to vote for their homeboy, and Shannon just didn't have as many homeboys!  The judges got Shannon and another talented kid in the Final 4, but the winner was the guy who packed the place.  Seriously, most people were casting their votes before the show began.  The best group was this Canadian group named Moonshade Slide or something.  The judges didn't like them, and they had a total of four people in the audience.  They were like a time machine to the 60s, Peter Paul and Mary, and Mary's two sisters.  Devine was like, "I bet they have some good dope in the bus," and I said, "Dude, they had to cross the border.  You don't take dope across the border dressed like hippies in a band bus."  They sang this really heavy original song about regrets, and Devine says, "Man, give up your gun and I'll shoot myself right now."

Shannon has some of her music on myspace.  Check it out:

http://www.myspace.com/shannonjohnsonmusic

Here's the guy she lost to:

http://www.myspace.com/ericfritts

O.k., he's good too.

Both of them are playing the acoustic guitar on their myspace songs.

Trophy update:

I got dye on eight of the thirteen tonight.  I might go do the other five but I had to take a break from all the spinning.

I'm doing the same basic thing on all of them.  I've put the name, division and place information around the perimeter and I'm dying that with a band of color that goes with the disc, red on yellow, red on blue, blue on green, black on the orange and red discs.  Then I'm putting some bands dye around the eccentric logo and making a spike sun pattern there.

It is supposed to be cold tomorrow, so I might warm them just a little to set the dye.  They are all Champion plastic, so they will take a little warming, and then the dye will set deep.  I don't want to toast the foils, though, so I'll probably just warm them to 135 or so.

this is getting very ridiculous. The IOS#3  trophies were suppose to mail out by ordinary mail on August 6th, by Bruce's post. Then in a PM he tells me he will give them to Jon at IOS#4, and that Jon can mail them. Now he doesn't even take them to IOS#4?? Are we ever going to get the trophy we won at the tournament back in July?? This is why trophies should be bought not made!!

I never said that Bruce did not bring them to IOS 4. I said that he didn't give them to me. I have assured you that you will get your trophy. I'm sorry that it is not as quickly as you desired.

And when he said that "Bruce" did not give them to him, he did not say that Kira did not give them to him!

When I said I'd mail them, I never said I'd bear the mailing costs alone.  I was assuming I'd get some tournament money for that.

I picked up my brother's trophy at the IOS4, they turned out really nice and was worth the wait.  It's too bad you weren't able to make it out to Round Lake to pick yours up as well.

yea, I'm sorry as well, but a sick wife was more important. I offered to send money for the shipping costs. If you need it, let me know. I have no problem helping out.

No one gave me IOS 3 trophy discs. I told you that I would reimburse you for postage Bruce.

I delivered an IOS trophy at the Homie, Sunday.  The last two IOS 3 trophies went in the mail today, to Coralville, Iowa, and Pekin, Illinois.  Jon, if you are going to reimburse me $5.16 postage for that, you should wait at least three months!   ;D  How about you help out with the 4th Tri-State Invitational [at Mokena] and if either of us remembers, we can settle up then?

I think I hand delivered about 14 trophies and saved the IOS process at least $71.22.  Given the way we were doing money this year, that's effectively $71.22 to the A-tier.

All the IOS trophies in my possession, except maybe a junior trophy from 2008 or 2007, have found their proper homes.  I'll see if i can figure out who that junior trophy belongs to.  Someday.  Any juniors out there feel shorted a trophy?
