Hey guys, just wondering what is in each of your bags and what type of throws you use each disc in your bag for.
Alright, I'm looking to kill some time here at work so I'll reply to this thread that always gets restarted by some new yokel every 3 months. Afterall, I'm sure you're all dying to know what Dan Michler has in his red Revolution bag. Its not a bunch of DX Stratusses if that was your guess. And other than an occasional thumber, they are all used for normal backhand shots. If I am forced to throw a sidearm, I just randomly pull out a disc and pray for the best.
3 Champ Bosses (headwind distance, hyzer shots)
1 Star XCaliber (no clue why this is in my bag, i stopped using it)
1 Champ XCaliber (super strong headwind or hard hyzers)
1 Star Max (just a backup to the Champ XCal)
1 Champ Monster (thumbers)
1 Champ Monarch (turnover shots)
2 Champ Orcs (for getting a hyzer to flip up flat)
1 Champ Groove (downwind distance)
3 DX Aviars (i use them when I need to airball putts or hit the bin, also upshots within 150 feet)
3 ESP FLX Buzzes (every midrange shot is with these, usually anything up to 300 feet straight)
1 DX Leopard (rollers)
1 Star Destroyer (i need to get this out of my bag, I never use it anymore)
So pretty much the Boss is my go-to driver for most open field shots where I can hyzer to the bucket. Otherwise I'm looking to throw a Buzz whenever possible. I haven't been able to work-in a more stable or understable midrange yet that I can throw with any consistency. I may replace one of those discs I don't use with a Comet.

What are the benefits of having a Buzzz, a Roc, and a Wasp. How do they compare and which ones are useful for which shots? I currently throw a Roc that I like, but have been looking into the Buzzz and Wasp.
I primarily use the KC Roc. I have 2 of them in the bag right now. One is nice and beat and the other is pretty stable. I use them for turnover and straight shots.
I added the Buzz to the bag last summer when Michler gave me his. With my style of throwing i've had problems throwing the Roc in low ceiling situations. I've found the Buzz is easier to throw lower with the glide. It stays in the air and flys while my Rocs tend to drop quickly at the end of it's flight. I also like the stabiltiy of the Buzz when it comes to windy situations. I can throw the Buzz quite a bit further than my Roc and it finishes pretty hard to the left at the end of it's flight.
The Wasp has been in the bag since 2003. It's super overstable and it's a great mid range disc into the wind. It's a great hyzer mid range. I can also throw it on anhyzer in certain situations and it will flex back. It's very predictable.

One interesting thing to see in this thread is who brings duplicates of discs they like and who does not. I do not (other than putters) but would consider if it was more of a wilderness round.
I pack duplicates. I play a lot of tournament rounds on courses I don't know that well. It is easier to lose a disc when you don't know the course, for some reason.
Also, there are two philosophies about throwing: get a disc for every shot, or learn how to throw your disc for every shot. Everybody's bag reflects where they are on the continuum between those two points of view. With only five molds in my bag, I'm toward the Ron Russell end of the continuum.

Midrange
DX Roc (w/ Bevier Blast stamp :), stamp is kinda lame tho)

DX Aviar
I no that I need some more midrange so that is probably where most suggestions would help. I was looking to try and find a Buzzz would that be a good choice. Also let meknow of any other mid-ranges that you think might be a good fit for me. If you need a better idea of what level I'm at click on the link in my signature sectionwhich will take you to my DGCR profile, once your there click on the scorebook tab. I play in the junior division. Finally, would you suggest investing in a Teebird too? Why or why not?
Drivers:
10x KC Teebird - security blanket [note to StrikerME02: This is my most reliable driver; I've got medium-size hands and no disc feels better. If you want accuracy and decent distance, this is it (for me). If you want 'max' distance, maybe not...]
Champ Sidewinder/Monarch (2 of one, 1 of the other)
Star Wraith
Star or Champ Orc
Rogue (currently fav driver, except in a headwind)
Champ Firebird
Star Destroyer
Star TeeRex (good windy driver/putter, and it's replaced a DX Firebird as forehand roller; not to be confused with a TeeRex X, X TeeRex, X Tee-RexXX or Tyrannosaurus)
sometimes Champ Beast and/or curiously overstable Elite Flash
midrange:
Comet and/or Meteor (amazingly dead-straight, but they don't know when to stop...)
DX and/or Ching Roc
Star Cro
Elite Wasp
Putters:
'Soft' Wizard
Champ Aviar
Pro or old SE Rhyno
swapped in occasionally: Star Starfire, Elite Talon, Drone (when really windy), Banshee (see TeeRex), Stratii (I used to think I couldn't play a round w/o a Stratus, but they roll at inopportune times, so I weaned myself off 'em.)
Except for the putters, one of the SWinders/Monarchs and the TeeRex, none of these are max weight. I've learned...
I could shoot just as well or badly w/ half the discs, but I bought 'em, may as well use 'em.

He does throw the Buzzz as his main mid now lol, when he plays... ::)
just broke out a Star Beast yesterday. WOW, where has that disc been?? Very long flight before it hyzers off at the end. Got an xtra 20-30' on my drive. Glad I held on to the 2 I got.
Stan gave me a 1st Run Pro Katana. I've been throwing it for about 3 weeks. I have been very impressed with this disc. If you are a player that has struggled to throw a destroyer or boss for distance because they were too overstable i'd suggest picking up a Katana.
Someone asked me the other day if I was picking up the new latest and greatest driver... I think I havent even heard of the last 10 discs to be released, lol.
Sticking with the now old-school setup:
ESP Flash (2)
Z Flash
CE Firebird
Champ Teebird
DX Eagle
CE Leopard (2)
2nd 1st Run Z Buzzz
ESP Buzzz
Champ Gator
3 S Wizards
You still play, Mike? :)
I should get out a lot more this year. Was pretty busy last year with the new job and the wedding, but this year should be a lot better.
It'd be great to play with you again. I'm getting pretty busy myself now, but I still get out now and then. Congrats with all your achievements over the past year, by the way, looks like you got a lot of good things accomplished!
Pretty much throw all discraft (Represent Michigan!) minus a few innova ive found at courses over the years and happen to like. Make that clear the only innova disc I've EVER purchased is the Rhyno (lots of em though)
Discraft
XS x2 (167, 172g) - Prettty much the go to driver.
Avenger SS - Nasty anyhyzer..only for certain lines
Crystal Buzz - Rockin the Flip City course logo
Z-Storm - old school fatty disc
Flash
Orange Crush
Innova
Champion Coyote
Ryhno x2 - the goto putter
Valkyrie
My current bag is a Fade Bag-the bigger one with a bottle holder on each side.
I went to all Discraft this year:
Elite XS Drivers x2-3 171-173 (slight variety of weight, variety of ages-new to beat up)
AvengerSS (it is either 150 or 165)
2 pro challenger putters
meteor
ESP comet
150 and 165 Storm
cyclone
Z Wildcat
I took out my ROC.......the meteor holds the line better and floats longer.
I also like the ESP XL......they got misplaced at the end of last season so I don't have any in my bag right now.
Man I just saw the post of what I had in my bag from a long time ago. It's not even close to the same right now. However, I haven't gotten back into playing enough yet to really know what I want in my bag. But yeah as for the earlier post telling me to throw a buzzz. Steven hit it on the head, it's my favorite mid-range I've tryed.
2--SSS Wizards
2--Pro Pigs
DX Roc
Star Destroyer
1st run Star Katana
Pro Starfire
Champ Starfire
Star SL
Champ Teebird
Champ Valkyrie
Champ Boss (Nice and stable, no fear of turning over, flex shots, skip shots, flicks, headwinds)
2 Star Katanas (Line Drive and open field distance, 1 beat, 1 stable)
Star Destroyer (beat but still very stable, hyzers, flicks, less stable than boss so longer usually)
Champ Orc (a little beat)
Star Orc (beat)
Star Beast (turnover)
Champ Firebird (overtable)
Star Firebird (stable and longer than the other firebird)
Champ Teebird (Stable)
Star Teebird (Flippy)
Star Leopard (hyzerflip machine)
Champ Roc (Stable)
2 DX Rocs (Ideally beat in different conditions, dont really have a beat roc right now, 1 cracked the other day :P)
ESP Buzzz (good for around 300') longer than rocs, trying 2 beat some buzzzes in 2)
Star Mako (Backup for a beat roc, straight but still stable)
DX Aviar BB (Overstable)
KC Aviar (understable)
3 DX Aviars (Flippy, main approach disc)
There is a lot more to disc choice and what shots i throw but i don't feel like going in to it now unless someone really wishes 2 know.
Looks like my bag changed up from last year as well.

FLX Surge SS (Max Distance Driver, Flex Shots)
Star Beast (Straight long range driver, also holds an anny well)
Star Valkyrie (understable, flippy driver)
Star SL (just taking up space right now, haven't thrown it in a while, pretty beat)
Star Orc (very overstable)
2 Star Teebirds (both decently beat in, but still with a decent amount of fade left in them)
Elite Z Stalker (medium range dead straight drives)
Star TL (medium range annahyzer, sometimes flex)
2 Elite Z Buzzzs (overstable approach shots, sidearm flicks)
FLX Buzzz (Shorter range Buzzz that works better weaving around trees, not as overstable)
Pro D Buzzz (just picked this up today and lovin it, a lot straighter and will beat in easier, very controllable, and gets good D)
Champion Stringray (understable mid, w/ a nice slight fade at end)
2 DX Aviars (one new mold and soft, other old mold and very hard, most shots less than 200ft away)
