Post by: stpitner on June 24, 2009, 08:02:52 PM
If you don't plan on making the trip for worlds this year, I'm pleased to announce that we have confirmed the tournament dates of August 1st and 2nd for a sanctioned tournament at Jericho Lake in Aurora, IL.  I don't have a tournament name yet, need to come up with one real quick!

More details to come out shortly...

The tournament should be on the PDGA website shortly.  It's a Pro/AM C-Tier.

Challenge at the City of Lights
Registration will be posted online shortly.

Advanced / Rec / Jr's play Saturday, August 1st
Open / Int / Nov play Sunday, August 2nd.

Advanced and Open players will play long tees BOTH rounds.
All other players will play 1 round shorts, 1 round longs.

I do hope to add temp holes, but where or how many is currently undetermined.

More details to come out soon!

Full Tournament Information and Registration (http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/2009/2009aurora.html) is now online!!!  There's going to be at least 20 holes - there will be more if I can find some helpers to get out some other extra ones - probably similar to what you have seen at an IOS.

So if you're not playing at Worlds, come on out to Aurora August 1st and 2nd!!!

AM's: $30 if you pre-register through the mail, $32 if you Pre-Reg online, $35 at the tournament.  Course is in great shape - even 17 is playable (lots of thick rough!).

We have a $20 Gift Certificate for Poor Boys that will be given away as a CTP in addition to all the usual other good stuff!

Again - Pro's and Advanced divisions play Longs both rounds, Juniors play shorts both rounds, all other divisions have one round of longs and one round of shorts.

Registrations are starting to pick up some.  The tournament is this weekend!  I restocked some of my Innova high end plastic that I was completely wiped out on.  Should be a lot of fun this weekend!  Weather reports are looking to be high 70's, low 80's for both days - great temps for some disc golf - especially in August!

My apologies for completely forgetting to mention today's winner in Juniors < 16 - KYLE CHAPMAN!  Congrats man :)  I still have your picture frame.

Scores were posted within 30 minutes of the completion of each round.  I felt the challenge from Jon when he was posting them up at Sterling :)

Advanced played longs/longs, Juniors played shorts/shorts, and everyone else played shorts/longs.

Thanks to all the FVMDGC members that helped today.  Thanks to Adrian Sr and Stan K as well!  Now I'm going to do some quick prep work for tomorrow and finally crash in bed - I've been up for the past 37 or 38 hours now, yuck!

Congrats to Kester Jeffers on his ace of hole 16 during the first round!

Results were posted yesterday shortly after each round was concluded.  There was a playoff for 1st and 2nd in Intermediate, won by Travis Lhotak after a 3 hole playoff.  No aces on Sunday, the fund was split to two players after a throw off - Mike Henry and I didn't catch the name of the other guy, sorry!

$48 of sponsorship money was raised over the weekend for Channahon's B-Tier, thanks for your support!

Thanks for all the help that I received this weekend, especially from Adrian Sr, Stan, Jessica, Travis, and Mukey.  Excellent job all :)  We finished early enough and loaded everything that my brother and I were even able to play another round from the shorts.  I shot a new personal best of 3 down (nothing fantastic) with one disc that is normally in my bag and 4 of my brother's discs.  I guess that just means I need to dump everything that's in my bag lol.

Scott,

Thank you for running so many sanctioned events. It is very much appreciated.  Also, thank you for getting the scores up so quickly.

Excellent work.

The report from the tournament has been posted.

He told me that he wanted to make it of just the tournament, but his producer wanted something that was more informative of just what the game is (you know, just like every other media outlet has been doing lately because none of the producers/editors have heard of it before).

*sniff sniff* I got cut lol.  Rick said he hopes to make a longer version of the video as well.

Nice shootin spaz!

and maybe I should mention to the news anchor that there are more than just 50 courses in Illinois ;)
