I know it coincides with another event - I've had this on the PDGA schedule for months now though.
AM's only. Please pre-register. If you sign up before August 1st, it's $30, from August 1st-8th it's $35, and then at the event it is $40! So definitely pre-register. Contact the Roselle Park District for signing up. They will handle all of the financials. I'll be running the event and handling merch and payouts.
Anyway...

Small question.
If it is AM only, then why the other classes? (advanced, int) etc
all of those classes comprise the entire AM division. There are different levels of AM players, and Advanced, Intermediate, Recreational, and Novice are those breakdowns. Similar to various belt colors in Karate. You play the appropriate AM division based on your skill set.
lol duh.
Damn and I thought I woke up hours ago!
I would love to play this tournament but unfortunately I am allergic to just about everything in the rough there and will not be attending this event.

It is a shame about the scheduling conflict. They have run their tournament on or near this weekend for several years. Go light on custom stamping for this one, unless you have a killer art concept.

your not suppose to be playing from the rough ;D
I probably won't do any custom stamped plastic for Roselle... no need. You can buy some of what I have left from last year lol.
I talked to Vic at the park district, they plan on having some more info on their website shortly about the event. You can call the Roselle Park District to get registered.
So why did you decide to do it am-only?
we're going AM-only mainly based on my recommendation to the park district. Last year we did a split day, and there was only maybe 25 players each day. So that was the reason to drop it to just one day. Since the park district is taking the registrations, they are handling all of the money. Because they want to be on the up and up with their bookkeeping, they did not want to do a cash payout to pro's last year unless I fronted the cash and then the park district would later mail me a check. I didn't have enough money from sales or registrations (keep in mind park district handled the registration money) to do the cash payouts. I even drove over to an ATM to see if I had enough cash in my bank account to withdraw and pay out - I did not unfortunately. So the park district sent the cashing pros a check in the mail.
I didn't want to deal with the hassle of figuring out how to do the pro payouts this year, so I suggested just going AM only. They also hope to introduce this game to a lot of new, local players to come out and play - maybe they play casually only or are pretty good but just not played in a tournament before. I figured that an AM only day would be the best way to go about things.
All registrations are handled by the park district. If you sign up by August 1st you qualify for the lowest entry fee ($30). After August 1st it is $35, at the tournament it is $40. If you are not a current PDGA member there is a $10 fee that is paid at the tournament that goes directly to the PDGA.
The park district registrations forms are found here:
http://www.roselleparkdistrict.com/Forms/registration_form.pdf (http://www.roselleparkdistrict.com/Forms/registration_form.pdf)
You can call the Roselle Park District at (630) 894-4200 for help with completing the registration.
The class numbers are based on what division you are playing:
Advanced 20-8010-A Su 9 am-5 pm 8/9 R/NR $35
Intermediate 20-8010-B Su 9 am-5 pm 8/9 R/NR $35
Recreational 20-8010-C Su 9 am-5 pm 8/9 R/NR $35
Novice 20-8010-D Su 9am-5 pm 8/9 R/NR $35
Junior 20-8010-E Su 9 am-5 pm 8/9 R/NR $25
Prices are the same for Residents (R) and Non-Residents (NR)
Some more information about the tournament is attached to this post.
a bunch of people told me they were going to head out to Roselle next Sunday, should be a fun event! Free lunch for everybody, and I'm pretty sure they're going to go around with the drink cart again this year with pop and water, maybe gatorade too. I haven't confirmed that with them yet.
I think the baskets are going in today across the street. At last report the limestone was not going to arrive in time for the tournament, so if I don't like the spray painted teepads where they will eventually go, I can set the flags wherever I want to :)
Scott,
You ever find that trophy from last years tourney? lol
and you're sure I never gave it to you? man, stuff just disappears on me. I'll reprint it - I do have some extra frames - not sure if it will be the same frame as what everyone else received, but it will be a well deserved trophy in the end. Are you going to be able to make it out this weekend? If not, PM me your address so that I can get it out.

Yes when I saw you out at Oswego you forgot it or couldn't find it. It's okay, just figured I'd send ya a reminder. No worries, I'll let you know if I can make it out. I would like to come but not 100% sure yet.
Course gonna be setup like last years?
i'm going out tonight to see where the put the permanent baskets. There will be grass tees this year again at Chatburg Park, so it will be my choice if I want to use what their permanent tees will be or my own tees.
The hole that runs from foul line to foul line right after 9 will not be played. Only one of the two holes that went close to tournament central will be played (one played right up to it, the other was from the baseball field to the willows). I'm not sure if I'll have tournament central in the same place or not, shade will be very helpful as it's supposed to be a hot day. Be sure to stay hydrated on Sunday!
It should have a similar feel to last year.
They only had a couple of baskets installed when I was there a couple of hours ago before work. On the plus side, as I was walking out of Chatburg, two Park District trucks where pulling in with 3 baskets in tow so hopefully they will be up by this evening when you stop by.
so this is goin to be a 18 hole course now i have only been here one time and found no where to park
park at the elementary school - from 20 take Bryn Mawr Rd to the stop sign at Rodenburg, take a left, just past the stop sign there's an elementary school. Follow the sign that says "Cars only" into the parking lot, park at the far end of the parking lot near the path. Walk down the path, and the tee for hole one is by the baseball field.
They have 5 out of the 7 baskets installed in Chatburg Park. The concrete is poured and anchor installed for another one, and the hole is dug for the 7th basket. They should be set by tomorrow evening.
At first when my brother and I were trying to figure out the holes they sucked. By the time we walked around just about the entire park, we realized that we were trying to play the course backwards. Then things started to click more. You go in a counterclockwise circle around Chatburg park as opposed to clockwise like at the tournament. There are DEFINITELY some tight areas close to homes. That will all just be casual OB. I'm going to try to take some time to get out there again on Saturday with some paint and flags to mark the tees better and then paint arrows to help navigate. It's a HUGE wide open park, the course plays the perimeter in and throughout the trees. Considering what they have been given the course over there is ok, but they could have done a lot in Goose Lake Park as well.
Anyway, I'll update a Google Map and post that here tonight so that people have a better idea of course routing. If the bees aren't there this year, I'm going to put tournament central near the willow trees to try to stay in the shade!

2 temp holes, 16 permanent baskets. You're going to play hole 1, then play 1A - 1I (including everything across the street), then play 2 - 9.
Sounds like its gonna be a blast Sunday!
Hows the rough out there?
Will probably see you out there Sunday
Am planning on going but have a few obligations
The rough is really rough... so just stay out of it. I highly recommend spotters from your group on hole 3, 6, probably 7, and 9. Hole 1 isn't too bad, across the street won't be bad other than just trying to find the disc in an expansive green pastureland (and goose poop land).
My brother and I both had to spend some time looking for discs on 3 and 6, but all was found thankfully!
Fun!
Now we are going to have a hot and WINDY day. Gonna be tough keeping the drives out of the rought
mukey
you must have missed the free lunch for the IN state T
i thought food guided your decision process
My decision is free food/drive + my desire to play
Free lunch @ Roselle as well, plus less of a drive
I know the courses don't compare, but last year I was home by6 or 6:30 from this, was nice to play a Sunday tournament & relax before work
woohoo! I was able to get the day of event late fee erased - it's just $35 to sign up at the event tomorrow ($25 for juniors). Add $10 if you're not a current PDGA member.
I just finished making the scorecards and trophies. Scorecards have a course map on the back, pretty sweet :)

22 players today, hope everyone had fun. I had fun until it dumped rain on us and now I have to spend who knows how many hours drying all this stuff out. *sigh*
