I played 7 holes on Snowmass yellow today. Its a good-bad type of thing. I jist missed the last chairlift to the top. I planned to play one of the courses. I walked about half way up as I did not want to miss meeting the rest of the family for an evening concert at Snowmass.
I played 12-18 going downhill. At first I couldn't find the tees and a played 13-14 as uberlongs. I still played 1 over just missing deuce on 18. Its pretty cool throwing 350 with pretty much a stand and deliver release. I was afraid I would fall down the hill if I did a full run up.
18's basket was right buy a beautiful scene where Cyril Neville played on a goergeous evening.
I will ride up the gondola early Saturday to play All of Aspen. Can't wait.
I've been lucky enough to have skied aspen and snowmass and the terrain was excellent! I can only imagine how it would be to play disc there-sounds awesome!
Just Awesome! Have fun up there.
Whoa. Aspen was beautiful, expensive and challenging. I paid $27 to ride the gondola 4 miles up. I could have walked but needed everybit of the energy I saved for the course. The elevation change is beyond the imagination. The gondola ride was beautiful. I will upload pictures when I return.
The front 9 is challenging, but not more than say Highland Park in Joliet. I was +4 and could have done better. There was plenty of elevation change but nothing like the back 9.
I was fortunate to run into Johnny B., the videographer for Kiss the Sky, before the back 9. We needed each other to find discs. We lost 3 between us on the first three holes. Johnny says hi to Bingman who he shot at Mad City a while back.
I was +25 on the back with 2 8's and no pars. I should have had 3 of them but would have been way over par anyway. There are multiple opportunities to have your disc roll hundreds of feet down the mountain. It happened twice on one hole but otherwise, I avoided this. The uphill, er, up mountain, holes are difficult to throw and impossible to walk. i was breathing heavy. The vistas are crazy beautiful. We found a couple of the house putters that they let players borrow on the course. Johnny found some scenic overlooks to let them fly about 500 or more feet down the mountain. One hole called "the wall" is 389 ft straight up. I would get it about 100 feet with a throw and felt good about it. My most understable disc was a Sidewinder and that was not enough. The one disc I lost was a beat Roc. I had a tough time controlling the fade at the end of downhill shots. I could still throw over 300 with a stand and deliver on the downhills.
I had planned to play two rounds but that was it. I asked Johnny how they did it at Kiss the Sky. He tells me that they play one round on Saturday and one on Sunday with two safari holes each day. 18 holes took me about three hours with zero waiting and not too much disc hunting except for the aforementioned hole.
Way fun, but I am looking forward to playing flatland courses.I have had enough mountains.

Wow that sounds insane. I bet you never knew how much energy 1 round could take out of you.
