Title: Buehrle's Perfect Game
Post by: pdga#7648 on July 23, 2009, 01:14:12 PM
what a catch by Wise in the Top of 9th to save it. Was a homerun for sure taken away. 1st time in 87 years for the  White Sox! Awesome to watch!

No TV in the office.  Listened to scratchy radio and had MLB gameday on the screen.  Its pretty cool to print out the final out showing 27 Rays coming to bat and all of them going down.

What a great catch to save a perfect game.

I got into my car after work at about 3:05, Sox were batting.  At the end of the inning Farmer said, "Sox 3 runs, 6 hits, and nothing else."  Right then I knew there was a possible no-hitter going, since I tuned into Buehrle's first one the same way.  I cranked the radio and enjoyed the reactions of the crowd and the freakin' out Farmio.

Mark Buehrle, Hall of Fame?

5-10 years from now it may not be a question.

My son was at the game and even got paid for it (he's a counselor at a summer camp for kids and this was today's field trip.) He almost became a Sox fan today....  8)

Amusing to hear post-game replay clips of Ed Farmer ACTUALLY SOUNDING EXCITED.

Also amusing to hear Farmer's phone interview on the Score after he'd clearly been celebrating the game...

I was in NY when it happened, but I caught it on SportsCenter and couldn't believe my eyes. Buerhrle pitched great, but he had a great defense behind him that day, and what instinct by Ozzie throwing Wise in their in the 9th. Good stuff!

It's too bad a perfect game only counts as 1 win.  As it stands, they're still in 3rd place in the weakest AL division.  Eek.

Just that they could stand to get a few more wins, and it's too bad one perfect game is still one game.
