Isn't this the same day as Channahon and Hamilton?

I sent Dave an email - hopefully there is just some confusion or I don't know what but it's just defeating the purpose of a fundraiser doubles event to host it the same weekend that a bunch of potential players are already going to be elsewhere.  Maybe there will be a couple of these doubles things,  I have no idea?

Well, Pro plays on Sunday, so maybe he's bored Saturday and figured he'd run a doubles.

Illinois is getting to be like Michigan.  An A-tier, a B-tier and a U-tier all on the same weekend!

I talked to Dave - he's run a couple of these already this year, and was originally going to have it this Sunday, but then moved it to Saturday because of Channahon.  He's hoping that a bunch of the pro's and a bunch of the guys that don't play PDGA tournaments will still come out on Saturday and then play Channahon Sunday.  So I guess for the dubs to expect a lot of pro teams.  He plans on playing Channahon on Sunday as well.

So if you're not playing Channahon Saturday, go play dubs ;)

There will only be one division on Saturday for the doubles and it will be the OPEN division.

Even though I talked to Scott, and he was ok with it.  Some of you think that I am trying to keep people from going to Channahon (Dana Vicich and others).  If you believe this, I am sorry but you are wrong.  Scott always runs a great tourney.  That is why I always go to them.

So, I will have to tell all of the local ams that dont play any tournaments anyway, that they have to play in the open division.  Most of them will not play now, which means less money raised for the Joliet Disc Golf Championships.

You are doing the right thing now, so feel good about that.  Scott is nonconfrontational and he is going to say he is o.k. with it no matter how he really feels.  Blessed are the peacemakers.   ;D

I don't think many people were assuming you were being malicious.  More likely they thought you were unaware or insensitive.

Dave-

I'm sorry that you see it that way.  You hosting a doubles tournament to raise funds for JPDGC is awesome.  But for you to offer divisions (in this case any Am division) that are playing at Channahon Saturday is wrong.  I'm not sure how you don't understand that?  I know that you have the best intentions and meant to do no wrong, but most will agree that you are doing the right thing in only offering Pro divisions.  So thanks for taking the time to host dubs and for only offering Pro divisions this Saturday.

Thumbs Up,

Dana

One thing in slight defense of the doubles previously having AMs is that there is a base of players in Joliet that just will NOT go to a PDGA tournament.

Dana and several others of you are right about this situation.  It is not right for me to have an am division on Saturday because the last thing I want to do is take players away from Scott, because Scott runs an awesome tourney.  I was definitely wrong and could have handled this situation differently.  But, what is done is done.  Thanks to Dana and everyone else for helping me understand what I needed to do to make sure that I didn't step on anyone's toes.

Thumbs up to all of you and thanks for your input, it really helped!

If you are an open player find a partner and come out to Highland Park on Saturday.  We have a little bit of a late start but we always end pretty early!

Thanks again Dana!
