Best Holes in Illinois
My list.
In no particular order.
#1 Wildcat Springs--Hamilton, IL
#3 Lincold Park--Springfield, IL
#5 Sinnissippi Park--Sterling, IL
#7 Foundation Park--Centralia, IL
#18 Northwood Park--Morton, IL
It's a pain in the butt - but I thought hole #5 at Morton was just as good as 18 and worth the mention.
Hole 16 at McNaughton is my favorite on that course which is full of good holes.
Alton was a unique course for Illinois because of the terrain, I am having a hard time remembering all the holes, but there were some good ones.
Hole 3 at Lincoln park is a clear #1 hole in the state in my opinion. Can't think of anything in the chicago area that ranks with the holes mentioned on this thread.
#3 at Lincoln Park - I definitely agree!
I placed a temp basket (http://www.flickr.com/photos/deafdiscgolfer/3780704038/in/pool-856454@N20) about 30 feet from the apex where land and water meet for that hole to welcome over 100 deaf competitors nationwide at Deaf National Disc Golf in the summer of 09. They all left remarking about how that hole was the most memorable they have ever played. It left a lot of hearts stopping as they approached the basket. The image i provided shows the basket to the right of the water fountain.
Here's a closer view (http://www.il09.org/IL09/ESivak_Lincoln_3_Water.gif)
I believe Trotter will be posting a temp basket there for the May 2 day 3 round event.
Notables:
#1 @ hamilton
#7 in the long on old course @ rockford
The island hole @ sinissippi
5, 17, 18 at morton
Im partial to #4 @ mcnaughton just for the "line" - holding my breath as I try to nail the line down there and "d-oh" when ninja branches kick it into some nasty schule.
#3 + #11 @ Lincoln
Agree w/ dan on chicago. No good "2 shot" holes that hold a pucker factor
I'm sure there's a couple out in quad cities.
Centralia + alton's on the list to play..
Hole #1 Camden 2--Milan, IL
Tee from top of hill. Tight fairway with huge ravine between tee and pin. The bridge is impressive.
I really need to get back to this course. I was hoping to do so this summer.
I also agree there are some very fun holes at Rock Springs Park--Alton, IL
Can't wait to play the cement tee pads there.
Original hole #1 at the Bradley Park classic course.
Hole # 5 at Morton and Sterling.
Dan hit it on the head with #16 at McNaughton. I also really like #11(Aced it 1-1-1999)
Hole #10 at McNaughton is my personal favorite. Roc, Roc, tap in!( glad not all golfers play smart there)
original hole #10 at Libertyville played in early-mid 90"s
Could go on and on,
